The answer is that the subject matter of this forum attracts an inordinate number of idiots.Don't flatter yourself too much. :) Being a member of a lot of different forums out there, I know it isn't the subject matter of the forum that attracts the idiots, it's simply the fact that there is a forum available on a subject matter the idiots feel they have a right to inflict their opinions on others with that attracts them. If your forum had a different topic, you'd attract a different flavor of idiot, but approximately the same number, and just as self-righteously opinionated.
So, the real answer is that it's a forum. It attracts idiots. The longer you are here, and the more you post, the higher the chances of an idiot settling their cross hairs on you are.
I have been here a few years. I don't post a lot because my opportunities for enjoying the hobby were low when I joined, and steadily decreased to my current opportunities of "none". I, personally, do not have a thick skin. I have been drawn into one flame-war on this forum, and as soon as I realized I was being egged on and behaving just as poorly as the one egging me on, I self-moderated and deleted all of my posts in that thread. I try to keep my head down now, especially since all I have left to contribute are opinions instead of reports, and we already have enough of those floating around. (See comments about idiots.) These organized groups often provide their volunteers with updated talking points, pre-written political messages to be posted by the volunteers in blogs and forums, and even pre-written jokes that the volunteers may post elsewhere in said forums to camouflage their true political intentions.
I've observed this phenomenon in my other forums, so I guess it was only a matter of time before these political operatives would infest the USASG.

I have recently been arrested for pissesion of an controlled substance and would like leniency to be showed toward me.

Some of these people are very deserving of banishment. Insulting the site without proposing a way to fix it or repair a problem is nothing more than bitching and complaining. Harsh words towards the webmasters and Admins is stupid, because without them we have no site. We need policing from troublemakers, as well as a gate against stupid mistakes. I have made some, and the Admin caught them before the post went up. And I APPRECIATE it. You don't learn without paying attention to every detail to protect the site, others, the hobby and YOURSELF.
I especially love the guy who tried to get a reduced sentence on here by offering to bribe LEO with info about mongers and AMPs. He has photo and video proof?
