CL Search 9446I had a similar experience a few years ago. I was meeting up with a girl at a cheap motel, and there was this guy hanging around. As I got out of the car and walked toward him he tried to look like he wasn't just waiting there, but I could tell he was sizing me up. I trusted my senses telling me that something didn't feel right and I just kept walking past the girl's room and decided against meeting up with her. Within a week there was a posting on a local online board that she was running a scam and her pimp/boyfriend was robbing people at knife point.
Always go with your gut instinct. Better to be wrong but safe than take the risk and get beaten up, robbed, or arrested.

Finished up some business in the valley and spent Friday looking for some action. Started off with Angelica. She already had a report posted before. I called and spoke with her, she confirmed those prices and mentioned they may be negotiated.

Based on the reduced number of ads (at least on the Phx boards), I think we're seeing an initial knee-jerk reaction that will dissipate as providers gear up with anonymous debit cards. The new policy will hopefully cut down on the spammers who post 3, 4, 5 or more times a day, but I don't think much more will change.
What no one seems to be focused on yet is the fact that CL will still require a subpoena before releasing any credit card or phone records. Judges don't issue subpoenas for "all the ho ads on craigslist." Cops have to subpoena a specific ad/provider. And, let's face it, if it's gotten to the point of warranting a subpoena, you're screwed anyway.
As a provider I've known all along that if they want me, individually, they're going to arrest me, regardless of any precautions I take. The girls out there would be wise to avoid heaping fraud charges on top of everything. I still use the same debit card I've been using on BackPage for months.
It's a tough line we walk, trying to balance staying hidden from cops with being visible to clients. I just hope this new policy doesn't push a lot of girls from misdemeanor prostitution into felony fraud.

VI like your perspective Verotica, but why would a false name on a purchased prepaid credit car be considered felony fraud? I would guess that the person would have to actually commit a crime with the card. But sheer anonymity seem harmless to me, but then again the "Law" is often so flexible that I really wonder what is law. Also, what about the Patriot Act? Do subpoena's even hold a precedent now?

Using an alias, in and of itself, is not fraud. Lot's of people use aliases every day (movie stars are a good example). I am not a lawyer, but I really doubt someone could get felony fraud charges for using an alias with a prepaid credit card, as long as they aren't using someone else's real name without permission (identity fraud). As long as Craigslist is getting their $5 and you aren't doing anything illegal with the card itself, I don't see how anyone would be defrauded of anything. I think this would especially be the case if someone used their "working name" (the alias that they post under) as the name on the card.
