After they pave the Mauka side then it will be the Makai side. It will be slow for a while with all this rain, it may take longer. Any 411 on street action at night?

I used to monger DT up until 2003 and after reading about how the action slows down at times.
Due to LE activity or as is the case now, I was thinking you drive by mongers should get together with the SW's and figure out an alternative meeting place other than Kukui St. For example Pauahi St. , Bethel or even the upper part of Nu'uanu. These are just examples of alternate spots. Just a thought.

Wondering how that thing will work in a high traffic area. That mini-park they are talking about is very off the beaten path. Putting one near Longs, or Kukui St would mean that its going off constantly, and all the people would be getting harassed just by walking to Longs Drugs.
Also, I believe that if they don't notify a person that they are being filmed (the verbal warning) , the pictures are worthless as evidence. Something about people being recorded against their will is inadmissible or something.

Basically, anyone can be photographed without their consent except when they have secluded themselves in places where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy such as dressing rooms, restrooms, medical facilities, and inside their homes, or motor homes. Chinatown is far game.

As for profiting from publicly-shot photos being prohibited, that's simply not true. All you have to do is check out any postcard rack on the island and you'll see plenty of crowd scenes at local landmarks. No way any photographer got dozens of people to sign a waiver.
It's all covered under freedom of speech. All a publicly-shot picture says is "this person was in this location doing this." I could simply report that and, unless the person in question disagrees AND it's somehow incriminating or libelous, there would be little they could do. Photos are even more strongly protected since they are their own evidence.
As for ridicule, that also is not illegal. The Internet is thick with "embarrassing" photos posted by people with camera phones. When these thing get to court it's not because a crime was committed, it's just a lawsuit. Remember "Star Wars Kid?" No one went to jail over that.
