A couple of things to help you.
When looking at Back Page ads, ALWAYS run a tineye search on the pictures. [www.tineye.com] If one finds numerous hits, then the pictures are likely stolen or borrowed and the likelihood of a bait and switch is fairly high.
Then Google the lady's telephone number: see if she has adverts in other cities (if a traveling girl) or if she has posted other places. I find it comforting if I can find the lady on other boards with some of the same pictures. It looks to me like she is serious about being in business.
Watch however, if you start to see different pictures on the links that come up. That means if the original post was a blonde with long hair and the links show a redhead and another shows a short-hair brunette. Well then the chances are increased that his is an agency posting. We all know some agencies are bad for bait & switch.
Finally, if one posts a request for info. Just paste the entire post into the request. That way if she takes her advert down, the info is preserved here and a monger might recognize her number, advert or pictures. [Yeah, don't forget to include the pictures with the info request! ]
Of course one might use the search functions here to see if she was reviewed previously here or in one of the surrounding area threads. Also good if the area code is not a local one to search a bit on the boards from which the area code is native.
Mongers are a odd lot. If one does their homework and provides some information from time to time they are more willing to share in return.

OK so I saw the following advert on BP. {yeah, I know should have been the first clue}

But it seems more insideous than just a shaedown.
That site is allowing "anyone" to contribute to the website and make accusations. THAT is the dangerous part. In fact, they are soliciting input from the general public. One's reputation gets damaged based on a report of some jilted lover or business competition?
From what I saw of the "text messages" used as "proof" none mentioned cash and sex, the act of merely contacting one of these phony girls from some unknown site gets one labeled as hiring a prostitute! I dunno, with everyone's love of the internet, garbage like this is prolly here to stay. Seems like there ought to be a constitutional issue of being able to confront one's accuser and of being innocent until proven guilty? Then again, is just contacting a person enough, or is this one big Libel of numerous gents? Maybe there is a class action lawsuit in here?

Use an app like Texnow. Go into settings on your phone and turn off all audio notifications. Then all you will get is a visual notification on your app just like you get on a text message with an iPhone. So a red bubble with the number of texts you've received.
The only way you would know you got a text is by visually looking at your open phone.

Isn't there somewhere you can hide the burner? A golf bag? Tool Box? Inside the mechanical room? Drawer with old cellphones or old electronics in it? (hidden in plain sight) Somewhere she would never look? How about under a rock in the yard, park, work?
Would it make sense to have the phone locked with an access code or pattern you can't remember from years ago? Could you remove the battery when you hide it and hide the battery elsewhere, then if discovered it us useless or can't be started & incriminate? Would be easy to claim it was an old phone that way.
With GV, you need to link a REAL number and once it is gone so is that GV account. Not sure if TextNow or other Text apps are the same.

I don't own an unlocked phone with dual SIM slots. Phones that have dual SIM slots either have a physical button or interface option to switch between SIM cards. This is useful for those that do international travel. That way they have a local SIM card for calling at home and an international SIM card for calling abroad.

My comments come from a risk management perspective. There ARE situations where it makes sense to dump your GV number and start over. Say a SB decides she is going to blackmail you or some girl with a Pimp comes after you. In those situations just "turning off" GV is an option, but to this chair the more prudent action would be to dump GV and start over. Or if GV layered on the burner, send it to the canal! Oh, and if one was one of the dudes in the WHFT case, THAT might be a place were prudence dictates starting over. Me thinks more than a few Burners went swimming last year as the WHFT case emerged.
Sure, one could dump the SIM card in the canal, but I have to wonder, does a phone have something similar to a MAC Address on a computer? If so, then from a risk management perspective, wouldn't the "Mac Address Equivalent" (MAE) be the same for both the registered phone and the Hobby SIM / phone? If so then the MAE could be searched to find the phone and owner?

Again, think we have different perspectives on tech and things. Two thoughts come to mind. Guy who maintained my tech beat into me something after a long day of digging me out: "Free is Not For Me"! His point was that free often comes with strings attached or allows one to step on landmines. Second, the cost of a burner maintenance is to me the cost of "insurance". So for the protection afforded, I don't mind the minimal cost.

Good luck with your "techniques!I just responded since people think using a 2nd phone is enough to be stealthy, it's not. I also didn't argue reducing risk. But rather most of the risk will come from the providers that are contacted or seen.
1) Cell towers log cell phones that it connects to when they are on (don't need to make or receive a call). If the authorities have the phone number then they can easily get these trace logs along with call logs. As I mentioned, if there are security / traffic cameras where the phone was traced and / or used then they can pull those photos / video as well.
2 and 3) I already mentioned that authorities aren't going to chase down a client unless there are more serious crimes being committed. It's simply not worth their time and effort to do so otherwise. GV layered (forwarded #) on a phone can be tracked as well, it's no more difficult. Though using a non-US VPN with the Google hangouts app (no forwarded #) will hide ones location.
A true burner phone is replaced frequently, sometimes after every use, and is used away from where one lives, works, or will do the questionable activity. Something I mentioned in my prior message. The vast majority of those in the hobby won't treat a "hobby" phone like a burner phone. Most of the time it's used just to hide hobby activities from a spouse, girlfriend, family, etc. As you already concluded and I already mentioned, unless serious crimes are being committed authorities aren't going to waste the time tracking down phone activity.

Me personally don't think LE is going to take the time or energy t get all legal stuff necessary to trace you're phone or it's movement. My opinion. But one safety tip I can offer is leave it in the car. Which brings me to my point. When you get out of the car, close and lock the door manually. They can clone your key fob and get into you're car where you're jewelry money and other valuables are kept. I leave my wallet, extra cash, phone and all jewelry in the car when I go in anywhere.

As with many of these sites, they want to appear to be more active than they are.
