Fortunately (or unfortunately) I did not have time to participate tonight but thought I would post up what I saw for comments. Was heading down JR around 730ish and did not see much but then just before State Fair I saw one walking. A white and blue had passed me and being I didn't have time I kept on going. Started my stroll tonight at about midnight, Went to all notable locations that most of you frequent. Took a stroll around the triangle and up and down a few side sts. I only saw 2 BSW's on I think it was Woodbine st. First time on this stroll so I really didn't know what streets are the best. Decided to move on to the John are stroll. I Decided to hit up the Fort st stroll. On my First pass I didn't see much going on except alot of big rigs parked in dark parking lots with the engines running but no one in the cabs. Turned around and went down Fort again and this time I saw a few more. I was just about to stop for a decent WSW when I saw a Detroit Police van cruising around the neighborhood. It kinda spooked me so just gave up and went home.
Pretty lame I know, If anyone has any suggestions for any more good strolls I'd like to check them out.

And (sorry to sound naive) does 'common sense' pretty much apply to Detroit? Is the crime rate really as bad as people say, or is it like other places where, if you're looking for it, you'll find it, and if you're just doing your own thing people pretty much leave you alone? I did get the sense that. I think it was near the Greyhound Depot (I couldn't tell if it was closed or still in operation. I just saw the sign) you could walk for blocks and see nothing besides boarded up buildings and houses. How far from downtown does this start?
Needless to say I didn't have any luck when I was out there, and I should have 'done my homework' before I left here. I have to say I was a little disappointed with the lack of selection or signs of life in Windsor. As I was leaving the guy next to me was saying that Toronto is a whole 'nother story completely but I didn't get a chance to go there.
Thoughts? Would like some local advice; I'm coming back to Windsor soon. Thanks guys.

I've been reading about how some of the SW's will take your keys, and hold them for ransom, or set you up for worse. It occurs to me that this situation could be foiled fairly easily (or at least slow them down a bunch). How about outfitting your car with a supply of zipstraps long enough to fit through your keyring and around the steering column, and some dykes (wire cutters to remove quickly)? I realize that this won't work for all cars, due to design differences, but I'm thinking that you could think of some other way to keep this from happening. (Like maybe a duplicate set of keys) Only put your car keys on the ring that you have in the ignition. No house keys or other "important" keys. That way, she only gets a set of keys. If you're really concerned about it, after it happens, you can then DRIVE into the dealer / locksmith, and have the locks changed. A tire thumper (like the semi drivers use to check the air pressure in their tires) wouldn't be a bad idea either. Just don't get caught with it in the passenger compartment, as it could be construed as a "concealed weapon", if the cop wants to jack you up. Just my two cents worth.
