You're right, I'm not going to sit and search for each provider's info from everyone that sends requests. I do not sit and tend to this 24/7. Again, I have a life too and a lot to do when it comes to this hobby alone, never mind the rest of my life, such as checking & responding to emails, PMs, the board, screening/requesting reference verification from providers, providing references for requesting providers, checking out info currently going on in the hobby, scheduling, actual appts, and more. And you want me to hunt down your references' links too?

Is it really THAT hard to simply provide the links for your references and is THAT what this is really all about? You overcomplicated this for yourself and put more work into whining about it than just providing the darn links!

I think when it comes down to it, I may be correct in my assumptions about your line of thinking about this business and the providers in it. It seems you think that providers are of lower value than yourself and they 'work for you'. I could be wrong about your superior complex but there are several clues within your posts that lead me to believe I'm not.

Among other clues, you're so "confident" that you flaunt all of your real information including your name, email address, what line of business you are in, what specific property you sold and when, the assumption or fact that unless you do something really egregious (*you spelled that wrong Mr. "that's not a real word" "I have this degree and that", etc.) your degrees, and more. You're either incredibly stupid, full of it, too tightly knit with LE for my likings, or the arrogant a$$hole you appear to be (which may be true even if one of the other options are also true)!

Either way, let's just both be glad we figured it out right at the beginning =)

I'm in a bit of weird situation.

I have been seeing the same provider for a while now, but she is no longer in the business, and using her for a reference is not an option. Another provider I saw was almost 3 years ago and I do not know if she would remember me enough to give a reference.

How do you provide a reference to see a provider if you have none? It is like the when you are looking for a job and they all want experience, but how do you get experience if no one will hire you.I'm sorry for the late reply. Again, I haven't been on the board in a week or two.

Well, a 3-year-old reference probably wouldn't work for most providers that require references so even if she did remember you, it may have been too long ago to be acceptable for most.

It can definitely be tricky to get a reputable provider to see you without a recent reference, which does make it hard for someone new to the hobby or someone like you who has stuck with the same provider who is no longer in business and can't/won't be a reference. Unfortunately, reference verification, for a lot of us, has to be enforced for obvious safety reasons.

Frankly, I hate to have to turn down people because of lack of references when sometimes I do think they may be honest gents who really are just new or not yet well established, but we have to do what we have to do to keep safe. So, you have a couple of options:

A) keep trying different providers. There are some who will take a chance on you (but you have to be wary of these providers too and make sure they are legit because I question anyone who doesn't ask for references). I would keep in mind that many providers will not accept CL provider references so if you are trying to get a good reference CL may not be the way to go (nevermind that CL can be one of the riskiest places to find a provider so be careful and do your research).

It is VERY risky. Not that *every* provider out there would take advantage of such information, but it only takes one to screw up your WHOLE LIFE. (Of course the same could be said for the provider if they get a raving psycho for a date.)

I understand that they need it for their safety, but I need it for mine as well.

Basically, I consider it a "no-harm, no-foul" situation. They're up front about what they want, and I'm not willing to give out that information; so I don't waste my time (or theirs!) by searching them out.

I've lived in Austin and Chicago and seen some GREAT ladies over the years (anyone know Sage of Chicago, for example? MAN can she speak French!); but I simply won't go see a provider who requires my personal information.

I do NOT tell them exactly where I work (that's opening up the door for trouble IMHO). I also will not give my full name to someone that I don't know. I don't have a problem telling someone that I trust (but, trust must be earned). If you can provide them with a good reference (one that is well known, and has reviews) that should be enough. (I also know that some ask for 2 refs., that's their option)

This stuff is just common sense, I mean you wouldn't give your credit card number to a stranger, or your SS#. Why would you give them the opportunity to use something against you? (after all you don't know this person, or what they will do with your info.). I understand the need for them to be safe (I don't have a problem with that) but, I need to know that I'm going to be safe in return. Trust must be earned, it's not given to strangers (not by me anyway). Don't underestimate what some people will do for money (remember it's the root of all evil). The provider and the client should be able to come to an agreement and keep each other safe. If you don't feel safe giving info. They ask for, you have other options. Just tell them your uncomfortable giving them that info., if they turn enough guys away, they will figure it out (sooner or later). That's the way I see it. Think with the big head (and not the little one), that's always best. Besides that you (Blackhawk) have all kinds of good references? I can't imagine that providers are turning you away? I know Whitney very well, she is a great provider. What has been put out on TBD is not even close to what actually happened. No one seems to want to talk about what this psycho guy did to her and many other ladies. A mob mentality has taken over TBD.- she was not banned for what she did. All I can say is, chalk this up as an expensive lesson learned. As I said on an earlier post, TRUST, must be earned. Use extreme caution until the person you are seeing can be trusted. I've been in the same boat that your in (just a much smaller amout of money). I learned that you only carry the amout of money that is needed (unless you can trust the person you are seeing). I also know that you never leave an untrusted person alone with you stuff. Like Julianna, I, too, require a personal check (extended ONLY as a courtesy to people with no refs-not as a requirement; you have the option to say no thanks and we both go on our way with no hard feelings) if you want to continue to try to work something out. I'm never upset if someone doesn't want to provide info, it's totally their choice and I respect that as I hope they respect my requirements even if they don't like or choose to meet them. Personally I prefer the refs over the personal info any day. It's just my way of trying to give referenceless (I know that's not a word so please don't attempt to correct me) gents an opportunity for an alternative if they would like one.

LOL Totally agreed but when it comes to this type of arrest, they don't weigh their conviction probability against the effort of arresting you or citing you. They figure by whatever exchange was made via phone or email and you showing up, they have all they need to arrest and that you will likely plead out anyways and go on about your business. They don't have to put in any effort after you show up other than the paperwork; they don't have to find you or use CSI (I love that show LOL) related skills to make any determinations. This arena is a totally different ballgame than many of the other "illegal" arenas. It's probably the easiest for them too.

It's great to hear that you understand and can appreciate processes like mine (most gents do but there are always a few whiners and I never understood that except that they must be so stuck in SW mentality that they can't grasp anything else). But we've been over that a million times on the board so I won't get any farther into that again except to say "to each his own" as always.

Blackhawk, you were not correct in your actions with regards to your posts about Mrs. J. What you posted about her weight and attitude were, by your own admission, "what [you] had been told." That is not information. That is hearsay. You have no idea if the information you were passing along was accurate or not. That in no way is going to help a client to decide whether or not to make use of a provider’s services. If you were seeking the services of a lawyer or a doctor, you would not want information from someone who had never employed them. You would want a first-hand account.

I will agree with you that a provider should not use a client’s real name on the board. That could have disastrous consequences for the client’s life. However, posting negative comments about a provider’s services (and in this case weight and attitude fall under that category) could have disastrous consequences for her business, and by extension, her life. If it were your own opinion formed from your own experience, that’s fine; but if it is only rumor and innuendo, then you have also crossed an ethical line.

I have personally met Mrs. J, and in my experience, she was extremely sweet and charming. She is a beautiful lady with a gorgeous figure, and I think her photos accurately portray that. That’s my own opinion, which I formed through experience.

If you feel it is really that important, encourage that person to post their experiences. Only accurate information will help alleviate frauds such as bait-and-switch, which you say you are trying to prevent. What you have to realize is that by passing along gossip—which is what you did—you are just as guilty as a bait-and-switcher, because you are doing the same thing. You are passing along inaccurate information. Your motivations are not the same, and I don't believe you did anything out of malice, but the outcome is still identical.

I noticed in your response, you indicated that your "information" came from "another hobbyist or respected provider." What strikes me about the statement is that unless they have worked together, providers are normally not going to have any first-hand knowledge of each other's sessions. If Provider A gives you information about Provider B, it therefore has to be something a client (or someone else) has told her about Provider B. In this case, the information you get about Provider B is now 3RD HAND!! I don’t think this type of information is going to help anyone make a better decision as to whether or not this provider is worth seeing.

As I said in my last post, I normally do not involve myself in these kinds of spats. However, it just grates on my nerves when someone wraps himself in the virtues of the free flow of information, yet does not abide by the principles on which those virtues stand.

In the past when bad info has been posted on a provider, hobbiest have been able to come on here and post correct info. I have tried to post information on great providers and share on others. I for one have had the girl in the picture not be the girl at the door. IMHO Weight and attitude is in the eye of the beholder. I have talked to Ms J and have no problem with her going forward. PW, she is the semi escort from Dickson. If you feel it is really that important, encourage that person to post their experiences. Only accurate information will help alleviate frauds such as bait-and-switch, which you say you are trying to prevent. What you have to realize is that by passing along gossip—which is what you did—you are just as guilty as a bait-and-switcher, because you are doing the same thing. You are passing along inaccurate information. Your motivations are not the same, and I don't believe you did anything out of malice, but the outcome is still identical.

I noticed in your response, you indicated that your "information" came from "another hobbyist or respected provider." What strikes me about the statement is that unless they have worked together, providers are normally not going to have any first-hand knowledge of each other's sessions. If Provider A gives you information about Provider B, it therefore has to be something a client (or someone else) has told her about Provider B. In this case, the information you get about Provider B is now 3RD HAND!! I don’t think this type of information is going to help anyone make a better decision as to whether or not this provider is worth seeing.

As I said in my last post, I normally do not involve myself in these kinds of spats. However, it just grates on my nerves when someone wraps himself in the virtues of the free flow of information, yet does not abide by the principles on which those virtues stand.

Personally I prefer the refs over the personal info any day.
