Eugene Eulogies
This is for the people who care about the girls on the street. Eugene has recently lost two of it's nicest girls. Pretty much, all the working girls in Eugene are addicts. That makes it all too easy to end up with tragic consequences. That breaks my heart.
Elisa
Elisa was one of the prettiest girls on the street but quiet, a hard worker. She was one of the heaviest heroin users I've met, and for most of her career, was one of the real street regulars. She made the news a few years ago when she brought a lawsuit against a Eugene policeman who forced her to have sex with him. She told me she had been offered a quarter mil to settle, but she and her lawyer were holding out for at least a half mil or more. She died last month from a staphylococcus infection. This is the cause of all the abscesses you see on a lot of the girls. The next time you see one, encourage the girl to get over to a clinic and get it treated. It usually works out ok, but it can also get really dangerous.

Maneli was my favorite girl. Although I picked her up on the street, I don't know how much she worked the streets for mongers like us who go around in cars. She had a number of regulars, and a lot of the Eugene activity seems to be with pedestrian customers who live in the neighborhoods. Maneli was a heavy user of meth and heroin, and before she went to jail, was probably getting up to Elisa's dosages. In spite of that, she was one of the nicest girls I've known, and I always enjoyed the time I spent with her. In spite of her heavy use, she always dreamed of getting her life back together. The problem, one of her friends told me, was that getting high always had too much allure for her. She went to jail a bit over 4 months ago, got out 2 months later, didn't show up for her parole meeting, and 3 days later got picked up and sent back to jail for another 2 months. She got out a couple of weeks ago, and it really seemed like she might be ready to straighten out. This time she did show up for her parole hearing and was trying to get into a rehab program immediately. I was told that she was quite upset when that couldn't happen. Back in one of her normal haunts, she shot up again. After 4 months in jail though, she had lost her tolerance for what she normally took, and died of an overdose. What a shame.
I really liked both of these girls. I go out on the street to satisfy needs I have, and have always felt it was a mutually beneficial relationship. In return for satisfaction for me, the girls get some financial support. The kind of girls who will get into this business, all seem to have a more than normal amount of warmth and empathy. I like them all. Maneli and Elisa, though were above the average and deserved better than they got. I loved them both and will continue to miss them for a long time to come.

Update on Eugene, Salem
I recently got a PM requesting info on the Eugene Strolls, and thought I would respond with a general update. For those interested in what’s going on, don’t forget to go through the Archives since most of the info there is still good, although things do drift a bit.
Salem
Salem is pretty slow now, so I don’t cruise there much nowadays. The main action is still on Broadway between Market and Pine. Pine and Highland were active for a while and I still include them when I try Salem, but a drug house in between the two streets has gone out of business and mostly killed that activity. It might pay to check some of the other traditional Salem strolls occasionally. Things might get more active on one of them if a drug house opened up nearby. I believe I might have seen some activity on Portland Rd not so long ago, but didn’t follow up on it.
Eugene
I do most of my cruising in Eugene and Springfield nowadays. In Eugene, the stroll is still on 6th, 7th, and 8th between Madison and Polk (mostly 6th and 8th). Eugene is slower than it used to be, although I still get about half my contacts there. I used to think there was nothing in Springfield, but for now I think it’s more active than Eugene. Some of the Eugene girls have told me they now go to Springfield for their dates. The shift may be due to police activity. Last fall there were some big busts that put a lot of people in jail, and this may have shifted activity over towards Springfield. In Springfield the stroll is Main between Mill and 14th. Be especially careful since the Springfield Police Station is just a block away.
I do most of my cruising around noon and manage to succeed pretty much every week. Most of the girls though, tell me that they do most of their strolling late afternoon through rush hour and later at night. Bad for me.

It's an AP article in Saturday's Idaho newspaper, it says police arranged an undercover sting at a Salem motel on Wednesday, 5: 00 PM. It gives the three names. I will not repeat them here. It says police did the undercover operations "after getting a tip that women were posting ads on craigslist.com for sex. " Wow, I had no idea such things went on.
Police set up times to meet the women.
Last week I was in Corvallis driving north on 9th street when I saw a probable 35 to 40 year old lady walking north on the west side of the street near Rite Aide. She had most of the looks of a WSW. I thought I would take this as an opportunity to report on my research of one of the recent hot topics: Desirees.
For reasons not entirely clear to me, Eugene has been a town where there are few independents, more services and—call them what they are—too many pimps. In general, I’ve regarded such relationships to be parasitic on the provider and hobbyist both. Therefore, it was with great reluctance that I approached Desirees, given that they are a service and that until recently they charged higher than the average rate. Fee is now $$, and the tipping policy is negotiable. They are now mid-market as prices have risen in general.
Cory has run Desirees for about five or six years and has been able to maintain a staff that can be depended on to give service that consistently meets expectations. Some of the women who work for her are better than others, but the best always seem to move on to greener pastures before I can post a report. My favorites were Madison, Joleen, and Sadie. All were gone within a month of my seeing them. Most recently, Alexis has moved on, but is now an independent who posts on CL. My expectations have always either been met or exceeded and I've never had a really bad experience. Senior members can get more information, if interested. Two recent experiences have been with Tori and with Tyler.

Anyway, I was looking at the reports to check out the action in Eugene cause I am going to Roseburg to visit my family and thought I would partake if anything was good. I saw the piece on LE sting using CL. Down here in OC we have a very aggressive LE vice. OC is famous for that. But we also have a great scene for the hobby. Saw nothing on Broadway.

Springfield prostitution sting makes 29 arrests

SPRINGFIELD - Eight members of a visiting adult soccer team were snared in an undercover prostitution sting in downtown Springfield over the weekend, and now each man faces misdemeanor prostitution charges, police said. Springfield police arrested 21 others in the sting, which took place Friday and Saturday nights. The soccer players hailed from Half Moon Bay, Calif., and were in town for a tournament, Springfield Sgt. Rich Charboneau said.
They were accompanied by two Roseburg men at the time of their arrest. The group approached an undercover female officer in a two-car caravan - eight men in a Nissan Armada sport utility vehicle and two others in a sedan. Each man made a separate deal with the female officer, Charboneau said.
Now each one has a Springfield Municipal Court date to face prostitution charges, he said.
In all, 28 men were arrested for prostitution and one woman was arrested on a warrant for drug possession.
The youngest man arrested was 19; the oldest was 75. It was the second undercover sting this summer. The first netted 18 arrests.
Springfield police routinely target the downtown area for such operations, typically focusing on illegal drug and sexual activity, Charboneau said. Last summer, detectives performed five stings in the area. Police plan the stings in response to complaints from businesses and citizens, the sergeant said. They are most often conducted in the summer because the mild weather encourages loitering downtown, he said.
Charboneau said it appears that downtown Springfield has a regional reputation as a place to pick up hookers. Frequently, those arrested in the undercover operations come from surrounding communities. In the latest case, the men came from Cottage Grove, Veneta and Pleasant Hill, as well as from Eugene and Springfield.
He said only about one-fourth to one-third of the people who approach the undercover officer actually make a deal and get arrested. In all, about 100 people made contact with the officer over the weekend. "It is a shame that we have this many people coming down, looking for love in all the wrong places," Charboneau said. "We're going to continue doing these (stings) until our numbers are down."

Obviously this is not the first sting in Springfield nor the last so be very cautious in that town. Remember that Police do not get into your car and let you drive away so do not discuss what you want nor a price any where near where you make a pickup or you will be the next one. It is also too bad that there is no legal outlet for these 100 people over the last weekend.

They set up a under cover person to meet her at a hotell and busted her. They said the neighbors complained of several vistors coming to the house for 1 hour at a time and leaving. Just wanted to pass this along for those of you that are mongering to be more discrete if posible.

Recently Springfield police conducted two stings in the Downtown area after complaints from business owners. They went after SW and johns.

Maybe it's the weather or the time of the month, but there has been nothing on the stroll in Eugene. At least not that I've seen thus far. I've been pretty consistently cruising 6th-8th, and even dropping over to 5, and 4. I've seen more cops than possibilities really. Police target prostitution customers, arrest 10
SPRINGFIELD — Police arrested nine men and a woman Wednesday night in downtown Springfield on prostitution charges.
The effort, which ran from 4 p.m. to midnight, was part of an ongoing police effort to rid downtown of prostitutes and potential clients, Sgt. David Lewis said.
Wednesday’s operation focused on prostitution customers, Lewis said.
All 10 people arrested are local residents, Lewis said. All were charged with prostitution, a misdemeanor that applies to anyone attempting to engage in sexual conduct for a fee.
One of the men was also charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, police said.
There was a report on nightly news a few nights ago that the Eugene LE had run a sting and were pursuing SW and some johns. So be careful in the Eugene Springfield areas.

Once again the Springfield LE are running stings against prostitution and drug dealers in the down town area. Last night's news indicated that a large number of individuals were arrested in the downtown area after complaints about dealers and prostitudes. Be especially careful as they seem to be using male and female LE decoys.
I was visiting Salem on opening day of the state fair. Drove in from Silverton/Molalla area and saw two or 3 HSW about three blocks east of the fairgrounds. While at the fair I was talked too by a couple of college aged girls that were trying to earn some $ for their tickets. They left the midway with me and we took care of business in the back of my van. Thanks for the hand stamp at the gate. They can come and go at leisure. I was visiting from the Fort Worth Texas area. Also saw several WSW along Lancaster ave during the day. The fair was great. Better than when I used to be an exhibitor.

but eugene police investigating the shadowy world of online prostitution had a hunch that the woman’s act might actually involve offering sex for sale.
undercover detectives responded to an internet posting for the woman who calls herself kimberly rae (not her real name), and set up a meeting with her tuesday night at a eugene motel.
police said their suspicions about the 25-year-old eugene woman proved true when she showed up at the inn, ready to exchange sex for money.
she was arrested and taken to the lane county jail on a misdemeanor prostitution charge.
“people involved in this sort of thing should be real cautious,” eugene police detective rick lowe said.
“we want to let them know that if they aren’t careful, they could find a police officer answering their ad, or ordering up a police officer for themselves,” he said.
during tuesday’s sting operation, detectives cited and released several additional people on prostitution charges.
lowe said the suspects included both prostitutes and people seeking to pay women for sex after finding out about them online.
lowe wouldn’t say exactly why the woman known as kimberly rae went to jail while the others didn’t.
but he said some suspects are more cooperative than others, and that eugene police continue to investigate local ties to the rapidly growing internet prostitution business.
according to police, an estimated 15 to 30 advertisements for eugene-area prostitutes are posted online each day.
“it’s a new way of advertising for them,” lowe said. “it’s getting out of hand, and we are actively investigating it.”
in november, popular internet classified site craigslist pledged to work with attorneys general in 40 states — including oregon — to clean up its “erotic services” feature sometimes used to advertise prostitution.
craigslist officials, police and the national center for missing and exploited children acknowledged in a joint statement that the web site can be used to facilitate illegal activities.
as part of the deal, craigslist now requires people who post ads offering adult services to pay a fee with a valid credit card and provide a telephone number. craigslist agreed to share those customers’ information with police if subpoenaed to do so.
“this agreement was a good start in trying to detour and crack down on inappropriate content,” said jan margosian, a spokeswoman for the oregon attorney general’s office.
but authorities understand that craigslist isn’t the exclusive online outlet for prostitution advertising.
according to police, several other internet classified sites post prostitution listings, often under the cloak of “adult services” offering activities such as massage and exotic dancing.
in addition, police said at least two web sites have been established exclusively to promote prostitution services in the willamette valley.
on the sites, johns — commonly known online as “hobbyists” — review the work of women they meet, often using nonexplicit terms to suggest what other potential customers should expect.
lowe said the hobbyists typically operate the review sites.
engaging in sex for money — either as a prostitute or a john — is a misdemeanor crime in oregon. however, it is a felony for someone to promote or compel prostitution.
lowe said the fact is that nowadays in eugene, the majority of people offering prostitution do so through online advertisements — and that the “street-walker” has largely become a symbol of the past.
but other than that change, police say the business basically operates the way it always has: with women exploited by men who profit from their work.
many prostitutes have been forced into the sex business, said wendy maurer, a victim’s advocate for sexual assault support services in eugene, an agency that serves sexual abuse victims.
“we know there are a lot of people working in the sex industry who are not voluntarily doing so,” she said.
maurer added that ideally, police would not be arresting prostitutes who may not know where to turn when the going gets rough.
“we would love to see police crack down more on sex offenders, and not on women doing this kind of work,” she said.
lowe said detectives with eugene’s vice squad aren’t focusing on people involved in online prostitution solely because they care about ending sex-for-pay operations.
the bigger issue, he said, is that the sex trade sometimes involves **** girls, as well as more serious crimes such as assault, robbery and drug use.
“it all goes hand in hand with prostitution,” lowe said.
police pointed out that when kimberly rae was arrested, she was armed with a large “fighting-style” knife.
lowe has heard the criticism from people who believe that cops should ignore prostitution and spend their time investigating other types of crimes.
“people say, ‘don’t the police have anything better to do?’ ” lowe said.
“it’s really not a top priority for us, but it is a priority,” he said. “when we hear about unreported assaults or robberies, that’s when we take action and try to find these people.”

Police this week arrested a Eugene woman who allegedly ran a local online prostitution service.
Lisa Nicole Dempsey, 31, was lodged Wednesday night in the Lane County Jail on a felony charge of promoting prostitution, after an undercover Eugene police officer allegedly met one of her sex workers at a downtown motel.
Dempsey was released from custody Thursday on her own recognizance. She has not yet appeared in court on the felony charge.
Police said Dempsey set up online advertising for several prostitutes, arranged meetings with clients on behalf of the women and received a portion of the money they made.
“She had several people working for her,” Eugene police Detective Rick Lowe said. “And she was actually trying to recruit others online.”
Lowe said Dempsey drove a 22-year-old woman to a downtown motel on Wednesday.
An undercover detective was waiting there, and the younger woman was cited on a misdemeanor prostitution charge after she agreed to exchange sex for money, police said.
Police set up the meeting by responding by telephone to an advertisement Dempsey allegedly posted on an Internet classified site.
Lowe said Dempsey, who has no prior criminal record in Oregon, recently moved to Eugene from the Las Vegas area.
Investigators believe the alleged online madam was previously involved in prostitution in Nevada, Lowe said.
In a separate case this week, Eugene police detectives on Thursday arrested another woman who allegedly advertised her services via an online classified site.
The woman, Marilyn Mae Sims, 23, was jailed after an undercover officer arranged a meeting with her at a home in Eugene.
Sims faces felony charges of methamphetamine possession and first-degree child neglect, as well as misdemeanor charges of prostitution and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Several people were cited earlier this month on misdemeanor prostitution charges after another undercover operation.
Detectives with the Eugene Police Department’s vice narcotics unit recently began focusing more on online prostitution because they say it has become more common locally.
According to police, several Internet classified sites post prostitution listings, often under the cloak of “adult services” that appear to offer activities such as massage and exotic dancing. Other Web sites have been established exclusively to promote prostitution services.
Engaging in sex for money — either as a prostitute or a customer — is a misdemeanor crime in Oregon.
However, it is a felony for someone to promote or compel prostitution.
Eugene has another first-class provider in Zyla Love. She is petite and discreet. My one complaint, to get it out of the way, is that she books appointments only via email and does not use the phone. We had a very difficult time making our schedules work.
