Looks like this is a really slow thread - this is the first real report in a year and a half! Ths was on the news:

A brothel in Austin is part of a large scale prostitution ring involving illegal immigrants. The*U.S. Attorney says women from other countries were brought to the*U.S. and then forced to become prostitutes. The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension raided the brothels on Saturday.

Prosecutors have now charged 25 people in connection with the operation. Police*raided places *in Austin, Minneapolis, Richfield and west St. Paul. Investigators say to get customers, brothel operators handed out business cards at places like Mystic Lake Casino.

The*BCA raided the house in Austin on Saturday morning as a part of the investigation. The Austin Police Department say they were notified about the investigation a few weeks before the raid.

The home on 10th Avenue southwest is located in a quiet residential area. And neighbors say they were shocked to learn that a prostitution ring was supposedly running in their backyard.

Neighbors living next to the home say they never saw anything strange.*"Nothing out of the ordinary. I saw...I've actually never seen anyone here, coming in or out, " says neighborhood resident Kyle Kelly.

But on Saturday, that wasn't the case. "The other day I was coming down this way and I saw the SWAT team or the ICE team, the back of their shirts said."

That's when police say they found evidence linking the rental house to a larger prostitution ring in the state.**"The DEA did recover some information which they felt was beneficial to their case," says Austin Police Chief Paul Phillip.

No one was living in the home and Chief Phillip says the house had been empty for some time. BCA investigators add as part of the operation, females from other countries were enticed to come to Minnesota and then forced to perform sex acts for money.

And those at the Centro Campesino in Austin, say this kind of exploitation is a common reality for illegal immigrants in the region. "Once people are here what are they going to do. They don't have any other choice. They don't have an exit," says Jesus Torres with Centro Campesino.*"So sometimes, it is really hard for them to get out of a and it's something the community doesn't know of until it's too late."

Torres says in cases like this, the victims may be threatened with death if they go to the police for help. Some neighbors we talked to who did not want to go on camera say they were suspicious about the home in Austin because there were always a lot of cars parked outside. But for the rest of the neighborhood, they say news like this....Is a big surprise.

"To have something like this in a small town, a quiet neighborhood like this is a shock," says Kelly, *"I'm sure most of the neighbors will say this is shocking....disturbing."

The Austin Police Department says it has never received any complaints or calls regarding the house on 10th Avenue in Austin. Neighbors say since the home was a rental, people moved in and out of the house frequently.

Was driving along Hwy 52 a few weeks back and noticed a club called Class Act in or close to Cannon Falls. I don't often go to clubs but for whatever reason, my car just guided itself off the highway and into the parking lot.

Glad I stopped in. Interesting set up. You pay a reasonable cover at the door (five bucks I think), and there's an alcohol bar on the ground floor. The girls are mixing and mingling in there between sets, so there is some eye candy to go along with your shot and beer.

The action takes place in the basement, where they only serve soft drinks. You can't bring a drink from upstairs down with you, which I guess is how they are able to have an alcohol bar AND fully nude dancers in the same establishment.
