There are several good spots, including the parking area of gindee's strip club. I've used it a few times. Customers who might catch you will snicker but nothing else. Don't let the SW take into any residential street areas! Very bad reactions from locals if caught. Price is usually 20-25 bbbj, 40 FS, 50 for anal if you dare!

There is now action to speak of in New Haven. The SW scene is non existent. Some occaisional action near the Kimberly Ave bridge, but I wouldn't recommend it. I have never been to the 'tokyo leisure club', so I thought I would give it a shot. First I had to find the place, it's in the back of a small center and you can't see it from the street. The Tokyo Leisure club is just up past the Zodiac, on the same side of Main Street. The Leisure Club is on the other end of the buildings, and is hidden in back. I stopped by the Zodiac a couple of times, and it is always heavy, unattractive women that are not worth the money. The Leisure Club has a range of women, some older, but I have had some great times there, and everything is on the menu. It was always a late night stop for me after drinking in New Haven. I'm assuming that you are referring to the shorthand for "Incall" and "Outcall" - "Incall" meaning the girl has a place of her own, and you meet her there for whatever services you are requesting, while "Outcall" means that the girl does not have a place of her own but will meet you at a location of your choice such as a motel on the Berlin Turnpike, or the hotel right off of Exit 42 (?) of the CT Turnpike, etc. If you look at the ads in the back of the Advocate, you will often see "In/Out" or "Outcall Only" which tells you where the girl is willing to meet you. Both choices have their advantages and disadvantages.

Asian spa owner claims bias in Milford's code enforcement

MILFORD -- A New York City woman claims in a federal lawsuit
that the city targeted her Boston Post Road massage parlor for
shutdown based on racial discrimination.

Hyon S. Choi, 46, of Flushing, N.Y., filed the lawsuit against
the city in U.S. District Court in Bridgeport, alleging that city
officials wrongfully went after her Ginko Spa at 554 Boston Post
Road because she is Korean.

The lawsuit also names as defendants Mayor James Richetelli Jr.
and Police Chief Thomas Flaherty.

Richetelli on Wednesday vehemently denied any wrongdoing, saying
that Choi simply violated city code. Ginko Spa was one of several
massage parlors the city shut down in May, charging the
businesses with operating without proper permits.

"As mayor of the city of Milford and police chief of the city of
Milford, it's our responsibility to enforce the ordinances and
the statutes for the protection of the citizens of Milford,"
Richetelli said.

Neither Choi nor her attorney, Mark F. Katz of Stamford, could
be reached for comment Wednesday.

In the lawsuit, however, Choi is seeking a restraining order
against Richetelli and Flaherty to prevent them from enforcing
regulations against her business again. The suit also seeks an
unnamed amount of money compensation for her "lost profits,"
injuries and attorney fees.

"Injunctive relief from this Court is the only relief that can
adequately protect the rights of plaintiffs," the lawsuit says.

Flaherty could not be reached for comment late Wednesday.

The lawsuit claims that Choi's constitutional rights were
violated because her massage parlor was the only one in the city
owned by a person of Asian heritage. The lawsuit claims nine
other massage businesses, all of which were allegedly owned by
people of other nationalities and races, were not cited for
violations.

However, Happiness Spa at 457 Bridgeport Ave. and VIP at 232
Boston Post Road also were cited May 2 for operating without a
permit.

Police said in late May that an undercover officer from the
department's Tactical Unit went to the Ginko Spa only after
police received a tip that it was back in business after having
been closed earlier in the month.

The officer was offered a half-hour massage for $50, police
said.

The lawsuit claims city officials falsely charged Choi "with
violations of the Milford Code, and, without legal authority,"
ordered Choi to close the business.

In May, state tax officials cited Choi with failure to display a
tax permit, a misdemeanor. City health officials also said at the
time that Ginko Spa contained health concerns, including
inadequate hand-washing facilities.

The lawsuit, however, suggests that Flaherty and Richetelli
"used and threatened to use" Milford regulations to deprive Choi
of her civil rights.

Richetelli said the suit would not change the city's stance on
massage parlors that allegedly operate without a permit.

"She (Choi) was running an establishment that was not following
the laws," Richetelli said, "We will continue to enforce those
statutes."

If we're thinking of the same Cookie in New Haven I can tell you what happened to her. Milford church buys out sex store lease

MILFORD — In a move touted as a
step toward exorcising pornography
from the city, Kingdom Life Christian
Church announced Tuesday it would
buy a Bridgeport Avenue building
leased to an adult video store and try to
drive the business out.

The store, Video Pleasures, has a lease that ends
in December and an option to renew for three
years. But church officials say their $245,000
purchase is the beginning of the end for the store
and only the beginning of their campaign to buy
out adults-only stores here.

Kingdom Life Bishop Ray Ramirez said church
leaders are already in talks to buy out other
pornography-related shops the city.

Mayor James Richetelli Jr.; State House Majority
Leader James Amann, D-Milford; and State Sen.
Win Smith, R-Milford, joined Ramirez Tuesday in
announcing the purchase of the building.

The officials said the announcement — two days
before the opening of a major new adults-only
store here — is the first step towards ridding the
city of moral blight. For the past six months,
city officials have led a crusade to restrict
and drive out adult businesses.

Ramirez said his 2,000-member congregation
already raised through donations half the money
in less than week, and he plans to close on the
property this week. Frichele Realtors of Norwalk
owns the parcel, and Ramirez said the owner of
Video Pleasures is a New York State resident
whose name he did not know.

Ramirez said the idea for buying the store came
one day as he walked past the store with his
daughters.

"I decided that day it had to go," Ramirez said.

Richetelli said Ramirez and the congregation
made great financial sacrifices to close the deal,
including church members’ forgoing vacations,
selling second cars and donating a month’s pay.

Ramirez said the store’s operator could decide in
December whether to exercise a three-year
option to remain, but he hopes to persuade the
owner to leave Milford.

"This is a great day for Devon and the city of
Milford," Richetelli said. "The porn shop has a
lease, which the church has vowed not to renew
when it is up. In short, Video Pleasures’ days in
Devon are numbered."

The city has four other adult bookstores along
Route 1 and a strip club on Woodmont Road
called Keepers. A new adult bookstore called
Penthouse Boutique is slated to open Thursday,
and is expected to draw protest from residents.

Ramirez said he contacted several other adult
establishments to gauge whether they’d be
interested in selling. Ramirez also said a
business is in discussions to purchase
another adult establishment in the city,
though he declined to elaborate.

"We’re going to keep moving on; we’re hoping to
inspire others to do what we’ve done," Ramirez
said. "I’m not under the delusion that we can do
it ourselves."

However, Daniel Quinn, owner of Penthouse
Boutique and numerous other adults-only retail
stores in the state, said there is no amount of
money that would make him sell.

"I’m going to have to buy the church and reopen
the store," Quinn said.

Quinn said the city’s current adult ordinance is
fair, but he said a proposed new ordinance might
be too restrictive. He also questioned why the
city would waste so much energy and taxpayer
money to oversee adult shops, when they all
follow the law.

"Could I really exist here if people didn't want
it?" Quinn asked. "Wake up, it’s 2003."

Richetelli said the city is powerless to drive out
adult businesses by ordinance because state
statutes give them protection under grandfather
clauses, meaning shops don’t have to comply
with local zoning laws.

Amann and Smith pledged to reintroduce
legislation that would eliminate protection for

Milford porn wars heat up on 2 fronts
Church raises $200,000 to buy out video shop

MILFORD — In the saga that could aptly be called
Porn War: Part II, a Christian Church on one
side of the city revealed Monday it has raised
nearly $200,000 in its effort to buy out an adult
video store.

On the other side of the city, however, the owner
of a separate mega adult-only emporium said he’s
going to re-stock his store with or without
the official OK.

In fact, said Daniel Quinn, owner of Penthouse
Boutique, his lawyer says his store might
not even be an adult establishment as defined
by city ordinance.

Quinn said that to meet the city definition of
an adult business, at least 50 percent of his
inventory would have to be pornographic.
An architect measured the store Monday and
concluded only 30 percent of his store is
adults-only, therefore an adult permit from
the city is not needed, Quinn said.

Quinn was prevented from opening the Banner Drive
store last week when city officials said
he did not have the proper permit.

On Boston Post Road, there’s no question the
video store targeted by Kingdom Life Christian
Church is of an adults-only nature. And there’s
no question the congregation remains determined
to drive it out.

Kingdom Life Bishop Jay Ramirez said Monday
that his congregation had raised an additional
$85,000 since last week and now has $200,000 of
the $245,000 needed to purchase the property at
116 Bridgeport Ave. that houses the Video
Pleasures store.

Money has poured in since the announcement last
week that the church will buy the building, he
said.

Ramirez said that while many people outside
Milford want to contribute, for now he is only
accepting donations given by his 2,300-member
congregation.

And back over at the Penthouse Boutique, Quinn
said his lawyer decided he could not give away,
as he had planned to, $500,000 in adults-only
items because it turns out the city ordinance bars
distributing free porn.

Quinn said he would bring back sex toys and
videotapes for sale as soon as possible, despite
the city’s claim that he has to wait up to 30 days
to obtain a permit. Last week, Quinn removed
half of his store’s $1.5 million adult inventory
so he could open before the bureaucratic red tape
was cut.

He said Monday he believes city officials stalled
the permit and were harassing him.

"The mayor (James Richetelli Jr.) is wrong 100
percent and has violated my first amendment
rights. We don’t even come close to 50 percent
adult products. The mayor is so anti-porn it’s
unbelievable," he said.

Richetelli declined comment Monday. Quinn said
he would meet with his lawyer today to choose a
date to re-stock the store.

"The porn is coming back," Quinn said.

Penthouse Boutique held a grand opening party
last Thursday that featured several Penthouse
Pets.

On Saturday a Penthouse Boutique cashier was
issued a $77 citation by a police officer for
selling body lotion in violation of the city’s
adult ordinance.

While Quinn’s business struggles to open with all
its products in place, the owner of Video
Pleasures is weighing whether he will exercise the
option to stay in the building for three years.

Ramirez said he has been overwhelmed by his
parishioner’s generosity.

"They are so committed to the idea to get this
business out of here and they’ve put their money
where their mouth is," Ramirez said.

Ramirez said he would accept outside donations

As I've been discussing with a couple of you, I've been reacquainting myself with marlowe's after having been disappointed with the quality there... They have some nice, pretty new girls.

I agree with you. Though I prefer the amps because of the extra services, I will frequent Marlowe's 2-3 times a year because of it's uniqueness.

No, this was a totally different place. This women named Melody ran a full brothel in the black rock section back in the late seventies and early eighties until the feds came in and shut her down for good. I knew of Tiki Gardens, it was already closed by the time I got to CT. The place I'm talking about was about a quarter mile south of that one - something like "hidden valley spa?" Devon massage parlor reopens

MILFORD — A Devon massage parlor that has run afoul of the city for years and previously allegedly engaged in illicit activities that resulted in it being closed in May, recently reopened, though city, police, and zoning officials pledge to keep a watchful eye on the establishment.

Zoning Enforcement Officer Linda Stock confirmed Monday that Royal One Spa, at 89 Bridgeport Ave., reopened late last month.

She said the massage parlor now has one masseuse certified with the state and it is licensed by the state to be open.

In May, Stock ordered the business closed because it didn’t have a state-licensed masseuse. At the time, Stock said neighbors had called and complained the establishment was operating and clients were going in and out at all hours. In August 2002, the Royal One spa was closed after police said a masseuse offered an undercover cop sex for money.

The city last year closed down several massage parlors in an attempt to rid the city of the alleged illicit activities that take place there. Businesses closed last year alone were Happiness Spa, 457 Bridgeport Ave., VIP spa, 232 Boston Post Road, and Ginko Beauty Spa, at 554 Boston Post Road for operating without permits.

Stock said Royal One has reopened as a holistic relaxation and massage therapy business. Owner Sik Kim could not be reached for comment. Stock said the business had not paid any fines because it closed.

Stock said she would keep a close eye on the business.

"I told the masseuse if she’s not there when I pop in then they shouldn’t be open," Stock said.

Stock said Ginko Spa remains open and has a licensed masseuse. Stock said VIP Spa is waiting for a licensed masseuse but plans to reopen and Happiness Spa remains closed.

"It’s dead and buried, they are out," Stock said of Happiness Spa. "I’d like to see a business come in there. Something other than what it was, of course."

Ginko Spa Owner Hyon S. Choi of New York filed suit against the city last year, alleging the city wrongfully went after her spa because she is Korean. The city closed the spa because it did not display a tax permit and the facility had inadequate hand-washing facilities.

Stock said she always learns of it, when a massage parlor reopens.

"People call and tell me," she said.

Stock said she has not received any new complaints concerning Royal One.

The Rev. Kenneth Fellenbaum, chairman of the Board of Police Commissioners, said he believes the city’s excellent reputation for being a safe community is likely drawing the wrong type of clientele to the massage parlors.

"Unfortunately, we’re this nice little community off a major thoroughfare between two major cities," Fellenbaum said. "It’s easy on and easy off (highways)."

Fellenbaum said, "Our city, legislative leaders and police department will do whatever they can do to discourage this kind of activity."

Police Capt. Keith Mello said officers would continue to monitor the spas to ensure the businesses operate within the law.

"We expect all business establishments in the city of Milford to comply with all our codes, regulations, ordinances, and state statutes," said Mayor James Richetelli Jr. "All of our code enforcement and enforcement agencies in the city will continue to regulate and monitor all establishments for compliance of the law."

I read a post about Zodiac in East Haven, and for reasons unknown, felt the urge to check it out.

It's listed as 190 Main Street, but for the life of me, I could not find it, I drove back and forth about 5 times, it looks like the street numbers go from 168 to 600 (town line change maybe) maybe it was the Gods telling me to save my money.

Anyone have a LandMark for approximately where it is?

I've never been to Zodiack, but I went on a recon mission a while back. From what I remember it's across the street from Stop & Shop, basically in the main business district. From what I've read it's HJ only. Supposedly the Tokyo Leisure Club has a fuller menu; I went there a while back but wasn't interested in the overweight granny who was working (I posted more details of that trip here, I think it was back last October). If you want to check that out, it's also across from Stop & Shop, but it's in the back of the building, right next to the firehouse and even more dificult to find than Zodiack. I've asked around about these spots and have never heard anything favorable. Good luck, and please let us know how it works out (though I'm not sure I want to hear a favorable review, a good AMP in New Haven would drain what little is left in my savings account!).

And as long as I'm posting, I'll take the SW question too. I've for the most part moved on from SWs and am strictly AMP these days, but that is mostly due to my newfound preference for Asian chicks (I certainly have nothing against them). But as I'm driving through the old neighborhoods for whatever reason I still tend to keep my eyes open for them (let's call it a sociological experiment). The SW scene in New Haven isn't too thriving, but from what I remember it does pick up as the weather gets warmer. I think it's safe to say that almost any SW you find is gonna be a crackhead. So if you stick to the neighborhoods that sell crack, you might find one. Sometimes you'll even see a relatively cute one, but be prepared to drive around for an hour or two looking. Ferry St between Grand Ave and Chapel St and the surrounding sidestreets could be your best bet, very late at night is probably the most fruitful time. Mostly HSWs in this area. Then Chapel St between the hospital and the boulevard has some decent looking WSWs from time to time, but I wouldn't really count on it. Finding a SW in New Haven really requires patience and a full tank of gas from my experience!

Zodiac is on the ground floor. The door is on the alley (or driveway, whatever) from the street to the big parking lot in back of the stores on that block. No sign except right on the door itself, at least there wasn't when I used to drop in there a couple of times a year about 25 years ago. The staff was not Asian (I think they were mostly Italian) and very, very stable. In fact I dropped in for old time sake maybe 8 years ago and two of the same women were still there! The years hadn't improved them any more than they have improved me. I'm not really surprised to hear that FS might be available, but I never looked for it there, and wouldn't have wanted it.

Sort of like Marlowe's, up the road, but generally shabbier. Zodiac is near the bottom of my list of reasons why I sometimes regret that my job doesn't take me up and down the CT turnpike as much as it used to when I was younger. (But man, I wouldn't mind if the old Tropical Retreat would reopen.)

Surprised to see that GF says Zodiac is now FS. Last time I was there was a couple years ago. I believe there was signage visible from the street, but it did take some time to find the entrance (didn't ask at the restaurant...). Running way behind on business last Thursday evening I deceided to stay over night in New Haven instead of my scheduled overnight in Springfiled, MA. called the wife and informed her of the change of plans and called ahead for a room at the Holiday Inn Express on the East Haven line. I stopped at the light on Ferry across from St. Patricks and this old Nissan pulls up next to me and a girl rolls down the window and ask's me if I want a date. Spent some quality time with the NH sisters Monday night. They asked me about the board of course. We spent an hour and a half at a Branford short stay. City shuts down brothel, illegal store in 2-family building

NEW HAVEN — A bluish two-family house that played host to a brothel and illegal store with rotting produce, CDs and movies was shut down on Friday by police, health and housing officials.

Police Lt. J. D. Smith, district manager in the Hill North policing district, said he received a call Thursday that a store at 55 Vernon St. was causing a nuisance, and complaints came in about a month ago of prostitution in the area of Vernon Street and Sylvan Avenue.

"We interviewed a bunch of folks last night and everything’s still under investigation," Smith said Friday as he walked through the dark first-floor unit of the two-family house.

Police left Thursday around midnight after questioning a man and four women said to be of Mexican and South American descent. The women initially fled upstairs and police chased them into a second-floor rental unit.

Identities were not released but Smith said they showed identification with Union City, N.J., addresses, and the man presented a document claiming it was a sales and tax license, but police and city officials deemed the store unlicensed.

Smith said he met Friday morning with officials from other city departments at the police substation and they then went to the house at about 11 a.m.

However, the operators had cleared out with about 20 bags of rice and chicken parts, and the apartment entrance was wide open.

"We’re trying to figure out what part everybody played. I’ve never seen anything like this," Smith
said.

Shelves were packed with shriveling onion bulbs and garlic cloves, rotting mangoes and banana, and a scale hung over an empty cash register.

Movie videos and $10 Latin music CDs lined the walls while pornographic flicks were tucked behind a sheer white curtain.

I saw the sisters early this week. They are moving out of their apartment this weekend and going to a hotel for a while. No word on when they will get a cell phone or where they will be permanently.

I agree with Stoners thoughts. I had over 40 requests for the sisters digits. Most from posters with less than 5 posts. Those that got the number never posted their meeting with the sisters. I would say they need to be careful though. More publicity than they need. This is not a game. They are two good kids.

They told me when i saw them last week, they were going to a motel over the weekend until they find a place. They also may stay with a few friends, that is not known yet. I just gave them my number and told them to call when they have it all worked out.

I'm wondering if anyone has had success meeting providers in any other settings besides clubs, the Advocate, or on the various strolls.

I'm reserved about the semi-public aspect of the clubs, can't actually see who you're going to get when you call from the Advocate, and I've actually never seen a sw in about 15 times I've cruised Ferry Street, Edgewood, Chapel etc. Maybe my timing is off or I can't pick-up the vibe.

One guy I know volunteers at the free food pantry and meets girls who are low on cash that way. Another time my friend met someone in court who was being tried for prostitution. Or how about the methadone clinic or Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

Anybody have any success with any "alternate" means of meeting providers?

For those of you who may not be familiar with this concept, a "hard return" is created when you press the "enter" key while typing, thus artificially shortening the length of the text by forcing it to begin on the next line. Hard returns are also caused by some word processing and email programs.

More preferable would be a "soft return" wherein the text is allowed to continue automatically on the next line when it reaches the right side of the screen thus automatically adjusting to the varying width of each viewer's screen.

If your reports are being composed in a word processing or email program that is artificially inserting hard returns in the text, then please consider composing your Forum reports in another program or in the Forum's "Add New Report" window.

To avoid delays in future reports, please consider composing your report in the Forum or in a word processing program that does not insert hard returns in the text. Thanks!

The courtroom idea is interesting. Sometimes you see arrest reports in the paper with name, age and address. I've never done it but have tought about looking up those names and addresses to see if they have #s in the phone book.

Regarding Newhall, back in 1997-1998 I worked in Science Park right across the street from the old gun factory building. Pretty boring job so I had lots of time to look out the window. There's crack nearby, so by rights there were SW's also. I'd see them from my desk on the 3rd floor.

I also used to spend my lunch breaks walking the neighborhood during nice weather. On one walk I bumped into the best looking BSW I have ever seen in my life. Actually, she was one of the best looking black women I have ever seen, on the streets, in a magazine or anywhere.

I couldn't resist so we went back to her place, which resulted in my returning to work almost an hour late. I worked with all older ladies in that office, and they just knew something was up. They were like a bunch of mothers for me, and I don't think they ever guessed what actually happened. But they knew something was up.

I tried the 'Nicole Richie Look Alike' ad in the Advocate. It was $180 for incall in Milford. She was Blonde and White, but that's about the only resemblance to Nicole Richie. Even though now that I think about it Nicole Richie is only half white.

When you select this link, the program will display a dialog box wherein you may enter your comments about the report. After that, please select the "Send Report Now" button at the bottom of the screen, and the Forum software will send me an email with your comments and a link directly back to the report. This makes it very easy for me to read your comments, and then go directly to the report where I can effect the appropriate response.
