There is not much SW action here either, unless you get very lucky. I haven't been out lately though, but doesn't look like things have improved from the quantity/quality of posts on this board. There is an AMP in Milan, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Strip clubs? Really depends on what you are after. In Davenport, I was just at Tuxedos two nights ago really late. The quality was good. Daisy Dooks is also a good place for quality girls. They both run specials on Monday, I believe. I would stay away from The Amsterdam. Northern Exposure in Mt Joy is usually pretty good too, they have much better lap dance area since they remodeled. In Illinois, I think The Body Shop may be closed, at least it was two nights ago. Jolly Roger, well, that's just an experience you have to have once in your life.

Since Evy Mensch moved her Davenport hair salon, Evy's Hair Hut, to the corner of 2nd and Myrtle streets, she looks out the corner window of her business and sees it all.

Drug deals, men picking up prostitutes, fights, drunks meandering in the street.

"If there are girls around, the drug dealers are around," Mensch said.

She often walks in the backyard of her building and finds people either drinking or sleeping. Too often, she picks up the broken booze bottles she finds.

Davenport police have long battled the vice crimes of drugs and prostitution in the downtown area. On June 3, the city designated the central city a Crime Control Strategy, or CCS, zone.

Criminal damage to the downtown parking ramp and harassment of those using the skate park and basketball court at Centennial Park were cited as reasons to begin a CCS zone, Lt. Rick Chase said.

A shooting in Centennial Park early June 11 that left two men wounded caused city leaders to order the park closed from midnight to 5 a.m. daily.

The CCS zone runs from the Mississippi River to 4th Street and from Marquette to LeClaire streets. Police call it a no-tolerance zone where officers have no discretion in the issuance of traffic citations or taking anyone to jail who is found breaking the law.

"Even someone driving a car with a burned-out headlight is going to get a ticket," Davenport Police Chief Frank Donchez said.

Program impact

From June 3, when the program began, through Aug. 26, Davenport police have arrested 271 people and issued 538 citations.

The charges have run the gamut, from prostitution to drug possession to driving while suspended to public intoxication and consuming alcohol in the parks.

"The goal is to get this whole area cleaned up," said Chase, who supervises the program. Not just patrol officers, but officers with the Tactical Operations Bureau and the NETS program have provided help.

"The neighborhood response has been good," said Davenport Alderman Bill Boom, whose 3rd Ward includes the CCS area. He also has a business in the area, Mary's on 2nd.

"They're calling for these enforcements in this area," he said of his business neighbors. "The police are complying, and obviously they're being very effective."

Boom said, however, that he has received calls with accusations of racial profiling.

"We're discussing that with command staff, but so far, there is no evidence to indicate that is the case," he said. "An area that receives intense attention like this is going to feel the heat. That's the intention."

Riding around the downtown area and through Centennial Park, police Capt. David Struckman said the strategy will continue for the foreseeable future, and it is not taking resources away from other areas of the city.

"I liken it to a zone defense," Struckman said. "We find out what the bad guys are doing, and we apply a zone defense to combat it."

'Entrenched history'

Struckman said police are working in an area with an entrenched history.

Mensch said that those engaging in vice crimes loiter on the front step of her business. Not only is it a place to sit, but they have a clear view of 2nd and Myrtle streets. From that vantage point, prostitutes or drug dealers can easily spot police coming, or wave down customers coming from any direction. Their customers can see them, too.

Also, loiterers block the door to her business, she said. Mensch and police regularly chase them away. A "no-loitering" sign hangs prominently in the front window.

"The girls will stand around on the sidewalk, and when my male customers park to come in, the girls run up to them," she said. "When the men walk out, the girls beg for money.

"I'll go out and tell them to leave my customers alone, and they'll say, 'It's a public sidewalk.' I'll tell them, 'I'm working right now.'"

Shan Singh, who owns the convenience store across the street from Evy's, said he has had far fewer problems since the police crackdown.

Before, he would have to go out to his parking lot regularly and chase away people who would park and wait for prostitutes or drug dealers, and often he would call police. The effort took him away from his work.

"It was bad for business," he said, because the people loitering would not buy anything but took up space that paying customers would use.

"The police have done a good job," he said. "It's good for business. Customers don't want to come in if they see people just loitering."

Centennial Park

Donchez said the city now has far fewer problems at Centennial Park, and that includes less litter and broken glass from beer bottles that need to be cleaned up. The surrounding neighborhood also has had fewer problems.

"There were groups of over 100 people getting to the park and causing trouble or meeting there for illicit purposes," Donchez said. "There were assaults, and there were fights, and the park was not being used for its intended purposes."

The safety of the people who want to use the park for fishing or boating was being jeopardized, he added.

Andy Ode, 17, a student at Davenport West High School, spent his summer at the Davenport skate park and is glad to see police cracking down. He has seen the problems firsthand.

"After the lights come on, they'd come down and sit in the parking lot and start fights and everything," he said. "There was one guy, 16 years old, who got beat up. Those people are all in their 20s. What are they doing here causing trouble?

"We worked for years trying to get it here," he said of the skate park. "It's irritating. I was at every meeting when they were trying to get this open, and I don't want it shut down because people are being stupid."

In the QC yesterday and today.

Last night hoped to find something on the stroll and did not see any girls out. Not even the ugly ones I would have passed on. This was in several different visits to the stroll bewteen 5PM and 11PM. Maybe the police action mentioned in the news article just posted has had some effect.

Also said I would get a bit better price since we would split the money the girl who answers the phone gets since she was eliminating the middle woman.

Told her might be willing to hook up later today, but she said her day job shift today would be from noon to 8. So for me a no do. I'll be at a meeting here in town from 10 to noon and am supposed to get back to the office at some point before 5 today.

Saved her number for the next trip to town. I did not get permission to give her number out to anyone else.

A Davenport mother says her 11-year old daughter was riding her bike home from the Davenport skate park Saturday when a man in a car tried to kidnap her.

"He literally picked her up off her bike, the bike fell to the ground, and he threw her in the back seat", said Toni XXXXXXXXXX on Monday.

Bell says her daughter Jasmine was crying in the backseat, and a man on a bicycle came to her rescue. She says the man, a regular at the skate park, asked the man in the car what was going on.

"The older gentleman told him he wanted to date my daughter, so he obviously picks up prostitutes. And the gentleman that saved her said, well let me get in and talk to her, and that's when he grabbed the keys from the car, and started pounding on him and punching him, and let my daughter out of the back seat of the car," XXXXXXXXXX said.

Davenport police say they believe the attempted abduction which happened in an alley around 2nd and Brown is the real deal.

Neighbors and the girl's family are heralding the rescuer as a hero.

"He probably saved that girl's life", said neighbor Wanda XXXXXXXXXX. "He deserves a medal". "He's my daughter's hero. He's our hero. If is wouldn't have been for him, God knows what would have happened to my daughter. I only know his name is Jeff", XXXXXXXXXX said.

Meanwhile, police are trying to track down the suspect in the attempted abduction, saying they have some good leads.

"Hopefully they catch him, so it doesn't happen to someone else's child", XXXXXXXXXX, who had just moved into the neighborhood a month ago, said.

The man is described as white, with gray hair, driving a car that could be a VW Bug, or look similar to one.

After several days of investigation the cops have actaually solved the case and have announced the entire story was "concocted" by the child. But police were not able to find either man, the unknown good Samaritan who saved the girl never came forward. The would be abductir would have no reason to.

"This shows why he didn't come forward," said Capt. David Struckman of the Davenport Police Department. The Iowa Department of Human Services is now involved with the case, Struckman said.

Detective Dave Morse tracked down the vehicle involved into the incident as belonging to60-year-old Marvin of West Point, Iowa. A search warrant was obtained and itwas impounded, officials said. Marvon traveled to Davenport voluntarily to be interviewed

They say XXXXXXXXXX was driving on Brown Street in Davenport seeking a prostitute. 40-year-old XXXXXXXXXX of Davenport used the girl to entice XXXXXXXXXX to pull his car over. Both Jeffery and the girl voluntarily got into the car. That's when, police say, Jeffery attempted to take XXXXXXXXXX's money. XXXXXXXXXX refused to hand it over, so Jeffery hit him in the face and head several times and took XXXXXXXXXX's money. Both XXXXXXXXXX and the girl left the scene. Police added that the girl was upset. When her mother confronted the girl, she came up with the "attempted abduction" story.

Detective Dave Morse tracked down XXXXXXXXXX's vehicle and obtained a search warrant. It was then impounded, officials said. XXXXXXXXXX traveled to Davenport voluntarily to be interviewed.

The girl and her mother are not likely to be charged in connection with the case, officials said. The girl is considered a victim, and officials are unable to determine the mother's role in making the false report.

Police indicated that XXXXXXXXXX knew XXXXXXXXXX from past involvements with prostitutes. XXXXXXXXXX is charged with solicitation for prostitution and will turn himself in on Monday. XXXXXXXXXX, who was the "Good Samaritan" in this tale, is being held in the Scott County Jail under $10,000 bond. He is charged with second degree robbery and using a minor to commit a felony/contributing to a delinquency of a minor. At this time, no charges have been made against the girl or her mother.

XXXXXXXXXX has a lengthy criminal record that includes convictions for sex abuse, weapons, burglary, drugs and domestic violence. Documents also indicate he has scars from gunshot wounds.

The area where the incident took place accounts for 79 of the 105 prostitution arrests in Davenport in the past year, said Police Chief Frank Donchez. It offers a warning to people going to the area looking for sex that they can become victims themselves of violence, he said.

Turns out the guy who picekd up the 11 year old girl then beat up is in real trouble and a bit of a pedeophile. Seems someone mtaching his description was reported earlier this year offering 11 year old girls $200 to have sex with him. They showed the girls his picture after this incident and they confirmed it was him. So it appears as if he was not as much of a victim as one might think. You should still however be careful out there.

The guy who beat him up wound up charged with second-degree robbery and using a juvenile to commit a crime.

They had over 100 some arrests in 1 year? Was a nice night last night, decided to go for a drive. Wasn't planning to participate, more of a scouting mission. Drove around what I thought was the stroll around 9pm, 11pm, and 1am. I stopped by the one in Peru this weekend and things have not changed. I left happy, but did end up tipping more than I should have. I'm not sure what kind of experience the other member had, but I have never been denied service there (four out of four now). The tricky part might be figuring out the nonverbal communication. They tape record (audio) every session, as a legal safeguard to prove that nothing illegal was ever asked for or paid for. This makes negotiations a bit more difficult.

Just to clarify. I am not actually recommending for or against this place (although I guess I did say "recommend" in my last post). The quality and cost of service is highly variable. That's why I went so long without a visit. I have found it more worth my while to wait until I have an occasion to visit Chicago or catch people traveling through Iowa for much better service for the same or less cost. I simply wanted to mention that The Spa(s) are available options.

I am not local to the QC, but have been there a few times. I have posted previously regarding my extremely poor experience at Island Spa. Have seen a couple of independent massage providers in that area, but experiences were also poor. Have nothing to recommend.

Yes chippy you could read some of my reports on that place, sometimes its ok other times it sucked, haven't been there in awhile, I got hooked up from a service and was seeing a old sugars girl named m., 120 for everything, but she left town a couple of mos ago, been looking for a new hook up with out any luck, been wanting to try the blond on bp but I heard she is bad news! this guy made the news a few months ago. looks like he has not learned from his mistake. it also appears that a couple of the prostitutes who he approached have enough civic duty to call the police on him. he could have gottne lucky with any of the three he did find. three more than i did when i was in town earlier this month.


a 61-year-old man who was to be sentenced today for attempting to solicit an 11-year-old for sex is charged with trying to pay someone tuesday to find him an **** prostitute.

davenport police arrested marvin at the corner of 2nd and myrtle streets about 1:40 p.m. tuesday.

marvin approached a known prostitute and offered her $50 to find a14-year-old girl to have sex with him, the arrest affidavit signed by officer barry peiffer said.

marvin made inquiries of at least three women, police said. two of the women called police.

when officers arrived on the scene, the two women pointed them to marvin who was talking to a third woman at the time of his arrest.

marvin was being held tuesday night at the scott county jail on a $2,000 bond.

he has a first appearance hearing scheduled for 8:30 a.m. today, the same time he is supposed to be sentenced on a solicitation for prostitution charge from september.

the sept. 12 incident happened a block away from tuesdays incident, near 2nd and warren streets. court records say that marvin was in the area looking for prostitutes when he met jeffrey, 40, of davenport, who was with an 11-year-old girl.

marvin told police that jeffrey attempted to prostitute the 11-year-old for $200. when marvin declined the offer, he said jeffrey beat and robbed him.

records say jeffrey and the girl got into marvin's car and jeffrey hit marvin in the head, face and neck and then stole $150. jeffrey and the girl left marvin in a semi-conscious state and jeffrey took the girl to her mother.

the incident was reported to police as an attempted abduction.

jeffrey was charged with second-degree robbery and using a juvenile to commit a crime.

two weeks earlier, records say marvin had visited davenport seeking young girls to have sex with him.

tuesdays arrest affidavit says that marvin is living in davenport. the sept. 12 report has him living in west point, iowa.

Did you use a credit card? If so, I would check your balance right away and cancel that card. Usually scammers like these won't rip you off for a lot because that would encourage victims to seek prosecution. If they only rip you off for a small amount of money, most victims are willing to eat it to avoid the potential embarrassment involved in going to the authorities. Still, there is no telling where your credit card number could end up.

There are a few reputable verification services that one could end up paying for, but in general do not trust an ad that requires you to pay something up front.

a davenport man was sentenced to up to 30 years in prison in scott county this morning for using an 11-year-old girl to rob another man he knew was soliciting **** prostitutes.

40 year old jeffrey , was found guilty last month of second-degree theft and using a juvenile to commit a crime. jeffrey will have to serve at least 70 percent of his time for the second-degree theft charge, to which he was sentenced to 15 years.

hes a serious threat to the community, judge mark cleve said, citing jeffrey extensive criminal history in deciding his 30-year sentence.

the judge denied jeffrey hand-written motions to seek a new trial and change of counsel. in the motions, jeffrey claimed he was trying to protect the girl and that some evidence relating to the sept. 12 incident was not presented during the trial.

OK not that much of a trip since it is only a 75 minute drive from home but I did have to spend the night.

In St Louis right now some friends got starnded due to airport closing so I being nice guy came down to fetch them and take them back to central Illinois. With no responses to my earlier email, I decided to spend some quality time making first hand observations of the street action. Off and on observations from about 3 PM to 10 PM of the known spots in Davenport and Rock Island. If you spend the time and look under all of the rocks there are providers out there. Not a lot but enough so there should be some reports. Several of the old standby providers made appearances. It seems that they basically make a hurried effort to find a date, spending a minimal time looking, and then are gone to avoid Leo. Who by the way continues to be very much present including several parked in unmarked cars in Davenport watching the events as well. I saw several women who did not fit the normal SW profile but definitely returned the look as they went about their normal business. Times are still tough and these women were open to suplimenting their income. Spoke with several and this was the case. Unfortunately there were also several SW who look to be too young who gave the look. Several were being walked by what I believe were their pimps. Not much to report on the known watering holes on either side of the river. Several regulars made quick entrances and soon left. Did not see anyone who was actually working or looking for dates in the bars so the pressure to clean up the area has worked to that extent. There were several SW out the entire time on both sides of the river who I saw being picked up by their customers on a number of occasions.

The two they picked up on Wednesday night were at the bottom end of the scale. I would suspect that most of the members of this fine forum would pass by without a slowdown. That being said, last night's bust was curious in that it was for "loitering for" rather than the act itself. Further, the woman picked up had been charged with intoxication the night before.

The issue with CL is that there are so many places to search, which doesn't make searching quickly easy. Have you had better luck on CE or MR or other?Seems like the greatest activity is in the morning hours 9-11 on Casual Encounters. They don't linger. Either they are flagged or author removed within 30 or so minutes. It has been the happy hunting grounds all summer.
