An attorney appeared in court Monday for a Sherrard man arrested for allegedly soliciting and assaulting a woman in Davenport on Sunday.
38 year old Andrew of Sherrard, posted $2, 000 bail Sunday after making a first appearance in Scott County District Court on charges of prostitution and simple assault.
According to a court affidavit, Andrew solicited a woman at 4th and Marquette streets in Davenport about 12:15 a. M. Sunday and agreed to pay her $20 for oral sex.
He allegedly asked the woman to come to Illinois with him, but she refused and, when she tried to get out of his truck at West 3rd Street and Filmore Avenue, he allegedly grabbed her hair to prevent her from leaving, according to the affidavit.

The request from Kerwin XXXXX comes after the end of a lengthy appeal about whether a search warrant and the evidence collected as a result of that warrant be suppressed. The appeal made it to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Kerwin has been in custody for more than two years, his attorney, Anne Laverty wrote. The speedy trial act requires a defendant be tried within 70 days.
“Even taking into account exclusions for pending motions and the appeal,” the 70 days has passed by about a month, she wrote.
Prosecutor Cliff Cronk declined comment.
Kerwin’s detention for two years “has seriously hampered his ability to present his defense,” Laverty wrote. “Defendant can show that key witnesses have relocated and necessary documents may have been lost, and witnesses’ memories fade over time.”
Kerwin could have used an alibi defense on at least one charge, Laverty said, but it will be difficult to find that alibi witness because the crime happened so long ago, as early as April 2004.
He also is in protective custody in the Dubuque County Jail, she said, which “means he cannot easily place phone calls to family or others who may be able to assist in his defense.”
In October 2004, detectives issued warrants for Kerwin and his longtime girlfriend, Melissa YYYYY, then 29, after officers seized graphic homemade movies involving illegal sex acts. The explicit scenes on the 15 videotapes, some involving an infant younger than 1 year and others involving dogs, shocked veteran detectives, said investigators, who said the tapes were made from January 2001 to July 2004.
An investigation began after police heard that Kerwin had paid a man who is mentally challenged to have sex with a female, then videotaped it, according to Scott County District Court records.

Not much of a first report, but it's all I've got...

Latest news on the guy who had been locked up since Decemeber 2004 waiting for a trial on charges that he videotaped:

According to the news the charges against him were dropped. This is since he was not allowed a speedy trial. Note to to others if you do stuff that may be illegal do not make videos of it. He has after all been in jail for more than 3 years and only accused of doing this stuff. The judge in the case however allowed the charges to instantly be refiled, which in my opinion sort of defeats the whole purpose of the speedy trial thing. You are supposed to have your trial within 70 days of being arrested unless there are pending motions and requests for continuances. Neither of these occured here although there were other things that delayed the trial. The judge basicly ruled that although the government did screw up they did not do so intentioanlly and thus this guy can have the charges refiled, and chances are will have sat in Scott County jail for 3 1/2 years without being found guilty of anything. I am not condoning what the guy has been accused of doing here but it seems to me he is getting screwed.
How have the strools been, especially in Davenport?

the QCA strolls sure have not been what they used to be. But, there is still action. With the exception of a few crack-heads whose half life on the stroll is about 2 weeks, the girls are being a little more descrete.

Was browsing the net and came across this forum, so first time poster. Frankly speaking, quad cities does not offer much action, or maybe I am looking at the wrong places. I haven't posted for a while. Not that I haven't been out and about. I can agree with those who say it is dry around these parts....Can; t really agree with you about things being dry. I was in town this morning and they had one of the major roads- think it is highway 61 detoured through the stroll area due to flooding. I was with someone so I could not have stopped had I seen anyone one I wanted to pick up. I did not although I saw a couple of very hefty hispanic women who were trying to flag down cars and a black spinner who gave me the eye when I was at the stoplight by the adult book store.

Back in the QC last night. Flood waters have gone down somewhat allowing one to cruise around a bit.

Carol of Davenport, wanted to plead guilty to a single count of prostitution, but Scott County Associate Court Judge Christine Dalton told her it was too early in the process to enter a plea. She’ll spend her 42nd birthday today in the Scott County Jail unless she can raise $2,000 cash to bond herself out of jail.
33 year old Felicia, told the judge she had a week left in drug treatment and was taking parenting classes before she was arrested with others during the sting.
“The whole prostitution thing, I thought he was asking me if I wanted a ride to work,”Felicia said.
Police say in a court affidavit that Felicia offered to perform oral sex to an undercover officer for $40.
34 year old Angela of Davenport, was twitching and rocking back and forth in her seat when appearing before Judge Dalton.
She denied drug treatment, and her bond also was set at $2,000 while she awaits further hearings on charges of prostitution and possession of dangerous weapons. Police say she had a 3 inch folding knife in her bra when she was arrested.
49 year old Marlene of Rock Island, was arrested for prostitution and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police say in an affidavit she offered to perform oral sex to an undercover officer for $30 and had two syringes and tin foil packet with heroine residue on it.
Also charged with prostitution, 39 year old Michelle of Davenport, was given 60 days in jail when she admitted violating her probation for a prior drug offense. She’s also charged with harassment of public officials for giving police a different name when she was arrested, police say.
“I’m taking this all the way to trial,” she said.
51 year old Pamela of Davenport, told Judge Dalton she was homeless and made her living off of prostitution. Police say she had a crack pipe on her when she was arrested in the 500 block of North Brady Street.
Also charged with prostitution were:
- 31 year old Michelle of Davenport.
- 56 year old Susan no known address.
- 42 year old Deloris of Davenport.
- 36 year old Valerie no known address.
All of the women remained in the Scott County Jail late Friday on various bonds. All also were given court-appointed attorneys who are scheduled to appear in court for their clients on Tuesday.

Let me suggest mile marker 267 on I-80. This is the Tipton-Moscow exit.
There is a closed restaurant building which would be easily remodeled. I believe the name used to be the Cove. There are no towns within 6 miles which would help with law enforcement. Yet, the place is 30 minutes or less from the QCA, Muscatine, Iowa City, Tipton and a bunch of other towns.
I could see this being a great place for coeds to work their way through college...

An unsolved murder has friends and family of the victim looking for justice. Sunday, they gathered in Fejervary Park to remember Agnes Kennedy.

Last year on the night of December 22, a couple coming home found Agnes' body in an alley in the 1800 block between west 7th and 8th streets in davenport. Her family says police have suspects, but not enough to convict yet.
"That she was a good person and hopefully someone out there will see this and come up with some answers that will help us out," says McFedries.
After words from a poem in her journal, the group released 52 balloons to commemorate the mother, sister, grandmother, they called Aggie.
"Closure would be great but we know she's in a good place and she's always in our hearts," says McFedries.
A little over two years ago Kennedy spent time in the Scott County Jail after pleading guilty to prostitution. Her family admits it was something she struggled with. Sunday they ended their day of remembrance with a candlelight walk to the spot where Agnes was found nearly a year ago.
There is a $10,000 reward for a tip leading to the arrest and conviction of Agnes Kennedy's murderer. If you have any information you're asked to call Crimestoppers or Davenport Police.

Let me suggest mile marker 267 on I-80. This is the Tipton-Moscow exit.
There is a closed restaurant building which would be easily remodeled. I believe the name used to be the Cove. There are no towns within 6 miles which would help with law enforcement. Yet, the place is 30 minutes or less from the QCA, Muscatine, Iowa City, Tipton and a bunch of other towns.

Made a road trip last weekend. Was debating between one to Rockford or the QC. QC won but wish I had chosen Rockford.

SAN FRANCISCO — The online classifieds company Craigslist said Thursday that it had reached an agreement with 40 state attorneys general and agreed to tame its notoriously unruly “erotic services” listings.
Prostitutes and sex-oriented businesses have long used that section of Craigslist to advertise their services. Along with their ads, they often include pornographic photos.
Early this year, the attorney general of Connecticut, Richard Blumenthal, representing 40 states, sent a letter to Craigslist demanding that it purge the site of such material and better enforce its own rules against illegal activity, including prostitution. The two sides began a series of conversations about what Craigslist could do to prevent such ads from appearing.
“They identified ads that were crossing the line,” said Jim Buckmaster, chief executive of Craigslist. “We looked at those ads, we saw their point, and we resolved to see what we could do to get that stuff off the site.”
In March, Craigslist created a hurdle for anyone trying to place certain ads. The company began asking its erotic services advertisers to provide a phone number, which an automated system calls. The system reads a series of digits, which the advertiser has to type into a Web page as verification before the ad will appear on the site. Craigslist said that reduced a majority of the illicit material.
Under the broader agreement announced Thursday, Craigslist is going further, asking that advertisers provide valid identification. It said that it will charge erotic services vendors a small fee for each ad — about $10, Mr. Buckmaster said — and require that they use a credit card for the payment. It will donate the money to charities that combat child exploitation and human trafficking. This, theoretically, will let the company confirm not just a phone number but also an identity.

So what if there will be less ads. I hope you guys will not allow these ladies to drive the prices up sky high. Usually the ladies on Craigslist should be the bargain price girls since they do not have their own website. If we all work together here we have the power to lower these prices just like all of us did with the cost of gasoline.

Hit the downtown area early Friday night (about 6:30) and didn't see anything out. I mean, not a soul. SRThe best places are following 67 south from the Centennial bridge until it Ts about a quarter mile sounth of the bridge. You can Follow 67 to Milan, but the best places to look are to hit the neghborhoods for a few blocks west of IL 67 between the river and about a mile south. You can occasionally find what you need in those areas and it si good because it is off the track. All times of the day and night are equally fine. IL 67 itself is kind of dead, but just off the highway is where to go. There are no guarantees, but it will yield results from time to time.

SRIllinois Rt 67 is much less active than the Iowa side of the river. I have seen a few girls along there. At various spots. I did find one there a couple months ago, was quite a ways from downtown near the first cheaper looking motel, going south. Megan Price was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in Scott County for the January 2007 fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, Allen Johnson, in Davenport. Court records show Johnson had been abusive toward Price for much of their relationship.
Price testified in a first trial that ended in a hung jury that she and Johnson were arguing when he said he was going to kill her and came at her to hit her. Fearing for her life, Price stabbed Johnson. She did not take the stand in the second trial, which resulted in her conviction.
In both trials, the district court rejected Price's motion to allow expert testimony that she showed symptoms of battered women's syndrome.

I'm no pro at this, I did it with my cell phone spur of the moment and this is the first time I tried uploading video to a website. The format was some funky mobile format, and when I tried to convert it I lost the sound. I tried youpron first, wouldn't take so I ended up going with yuvutu instead.

When Sugar’s Exotic Dancers closed in December 2006 after a prostitution bust, nearby business owners and residents who fought to get it shut down hoped it would be a first step in cleaning up illegal activity in that part of downtown Davenport.
Nearly two years later, however, concerns about illegal activity in the former Sugar’s building and in another vacant business at 4th and Myrtle streets have frustrated those working to clean up the neighborhood’s image.
The old Sugar’s building, 1037 W. 3rd St., is under close scrutiny from the city’s nuisance abatement attorney, and the building at 1101 W. 4th St. is the focus of an ongoing investigation as an alleged “after-hours” club that may be selling alcohol illegally.
Although police and the city’s legal staff are aware of the issues, they aren’t moving fast enough for some of the business owners and residents.
In an e-mail to Davenport Corporate Counsel Tom Warner, Shelley Sheehy — an activist with the West Central Business District organization — complained about the pace of the investigations.
“Two weeks ago, I was unable to cross 3rd Street on Myrtle on my way to the post office as it was blocked with people and cars,” she wrote. “It was clear that the business at the former Sugar’s was open and people were going in and out of it and the people blocking the street were associated with it. I have heard many complaints about it since. Now we have learned that the property on the west side of Myrtle at the corner of 4th is an ‘after-hours’ club.
“As you can imagine, it is more than frustrating that as a neighborhood we have to be vigilant at every turn that some other criminal business isn’t expanding or moving into our area.”
Sheehy’s concerns were shared by several other nearby business owners who did not wish to give their names because of fear of retaliation. They said loud parties, people in the street at all hours of the night and other suspicious activity have been frequent at both locations.
Davenport Police Capt. Kevin Murphy confirmed that 1101 W. 4th St. is being investigated. According to police and records from the Scott County Assessor’s Office, the building is owned by Robert B. Long and is being leased to Cosby Gibson, who goes by the nickname “Dog Man.”
Neither Long nor Gibson could be contacted Friday.
Gibson was convicted in 2003 of operating a gaming house at 401 Marquette St. when that building housed the West End Social Club. That building is one block west of 1101 W. 4th St. Gibson was also arrested and charged with bootlegging in 2004, according to court records, but those charges were dismissed.
“We are in the process of investigating the complaint,” Murphy said. “We’re trying to stay on top of it. We have to work through the law. No one ever said the law was swift. We work within the confines presented to us by legislators, and we’re doing the best we can.”
Meanwhile, Angela Foht, the city’s nuisance abatement attorney, is trying to stay on top of the situation at the former Sugar’s.
When the building was an “erotic dance” club, it was owned by Dale Labath. Labath also owned the building when it was raided by Quad-City Metropolitan Enforcement Group agents and a crack cocaine operation was taken down in July.
Labath was ordered to submit a nuisance abatement plan with Foht on Oct. 10, which he did. The plan stipulates that there be no illegal or illegitimate business activity operating on the property and that any new merchants or lessees undergo a background check by the police department.
“My concern is, I don’t want the crime, I don’t want drug dealers using that property,” Foht said. “That is my responsibility to address. I investigate any complaint that comes to my attention.”

*Two empty storefronts, one on Davenport’s West 4th Street and one on West 3rd Street, are drawing negative attention from area business owners and residents.
The former Sugar’s Exotic Dancers at 1037 W. 3rd St. has been the scene of two busts — one for prostitution and one for drugs — while owned by Dale Labath. Labath is currently planning to open a third business, specializing in rims and specialty auto parts in the building, according to the city’s Community Services Division personnel.
A building at 1101 W. 4th St., that formerly housed a business called Thinkers Press is under investigation for housing illegal after-hours parties.
The following background on the two buildings was compiled from court filings and interviews with police, city legal staff and neighboring business owners:
1037 E. 3rd St.
The building owned by Dale Labath is the former home of Sugar’s Exotic Dancers, which was shut down by the city in December 2006 after a prostitution bust.
Earlier this summer, Labath, who could not be reached for comment, leased the building to Richard L. Hoskins. Reportedly, the business Hoskins was running sold “hip hop” clothing and accessories.
According to information in search warrant documents compiled by the Quad-City Metropolitan Enforcement Group, the hip hop store did not sell any clothing or contain clothing racks. Quad-City MEG agents, acting on information from an anonymous source, conducted a raid on the building on June 26, and agents found evidence that Hoskins and Wallace Earl Ross, who also lived in the building, were selling crack and powder cocaine from the premises.
After that drug bust, Labath was served with a nuisance abatement and ordered to file a plan with the city’s Community Services Division by Oct. 10. He complied, and under the terms of the plan, he has agreed that future merchants or people inhabiting the building will be subject to criminal background checks by police.
1101 W. 4th St.
According to records from the Scott County Assessor’s Office and the Iowa Secretary of State’s office, the building is owned by Robert B. Long. Police and neighboring business owners confirmed that Long is leasing the building to Cosby Gibson, who was formerly associated with the nearby West End Social Club at 401 Marquette St.
According to trial information from an August 2003 case, Gibson was convicted of keeping a gambling house while working at the West End Social Club. In addition, Gibson was charged in 2004 with bootlegging, but that charge was dismissed.
Neither Gibson nor Long could be reached for comment.

Was in the QC yesterday. I did not expect to find much since it is very cold out. Hit the stroll and after a few passes wound up picking up a dark curly haired WSW mid 30s not too bad looking, at least from a distance. Let her in my car and she said her name was Cindy. Went to the QC on Saturday.

Craigslist has been on the radar of police in the Quad Cities for a couple of years, and is now coming under fire for its sex for sale ads.
"We had a case here in Bettendorf, where we had a complaint from a resident"
The complaint lead Bettendorf police to the Craigslist website, and an online posting that featured a picture of a woman offering sexual services. It also had the prices, and a phone number to call.
"She was a prostitute working out of an apartment in Bettendorf", says Bettendorf police Chief Phil Redington. "We have one of our police officers give her a call and within an hour she was arrested"
Craiglist and its erotic services section is back in the spotlight this week, because of the accused craigslist killer's use of the website to find victims.
"In the Iowa area alone, Quad City area, you can see there's 43 advertisements out there right now, for sex for sale, sex for sale" says Greg Trudell of the Bettendorf Police.
Just last month, Sheriff Tom Dart of Cook County, Illinois, filed a lawsuit against Craiglist, deeming it the country's largest house of prostitution. Dart's calling for the San Francisco based company to shut down the erotic section on the site.
Local police say they monitor the site, and investigate individual complaints about it, but with the worlds oldest profession just a click away, Craigslist, is not on the top of theirs.
Prostitution is one thing, but the F.B.I. says Craiglist had about 2,800 ads for sex involving minors in 2008. Law enforcement says Craigslist, which is free, needs to police itself; the lawsuit still pending.
The C.E.O. of Craigslist says it's looking at possible changes in the site to make it safer for all of its users. Craigslist had revenues of about $80 million in 2008

Well was laid off last week and I decided to celebrate for the entire weekend. Belvidere is fine if you want to add an extra hour to your trip (which I have done before). There are a 2-3 places out there. I can't remember the names off the top of my head but you can check my profile for other posts I have done (I reviewed one of them).

A Davenport woman previously convicted of prostitution is charged with robbery first-degree and prostitution after she allegedly robbed a man with a box cutter, police said.
23 year old Kimberly of W. 2nd St., was arrested Wednesday and was being held Thursday night in the Scott County Jail on $25,000 bond.
Robbery first-degree is a Class B felony under Iowa law that carries a prison sentence of 25 years, 70 percent, or 17.5 years, of which must be served before parole can be granted.
Prostitution is an aggravated misdemeanor that carries a prison sentence of up to two years.
According to the arrest affidavit, at 1:58 p.m. June 11 police were summoned to the 600 block of West 2nd Street. A man who had several lacerations on his right hand told officers he had been robbed by a woman identified as Kimberly. The man told police she assaulted him with a box cutter as he tried to resist the robbery.
An arrest warrant was issued on Kimberly. When she was arrested, Kimberly admitted that she had performed a sex act on the man for $30.
This is the third time that Kimberly has been accused of robbing men.
In December 2007, she faced two counts of robbery first-degree that were eventually dismissed. In one of those cases, the victim, a 91-year-old man, refused to testify. In the other case involving a 70-year-old man, the state could not muster enough evidence and the case was dismissed.
Scott County District Court records show that Kimberly pleaded guilty to a charge of prostitution in June 2007. A prostitution charge stemming from an arrest in September was dismissed in May because a witness was unavailable.
Kimberly was convicted in May of possession of drug paraphernalia, a serious misdemeanor under Iowa law. She was ordered to pay $317 in fines and court costs, which she still owes.
According to court records, Kimberly pleaded guilty of an aggravated misdemeanor charge of forgery in May 2006 in Muscatine County District Court. She was sentenced to two years on probation. She was arrested in October 2006 after she violated her probation. She was then sentenced to three years on probation.
She violated her probation again with her arrest on the Davenport robbery charges in December 2007. She was sentenced to two years in prison in March 2008. She was granted parole in July 2008 but that parole was revoked and she was back in prison in October 2008. She was released from prison in February.

Jesse James XXXXXXX, 58, told authorities he was trying to wean the women off the drug by providing it to them in controlled doses.
However, there was "no question" Jesse James traded crack for sex and took explicit photos of the women, Judge John Jarvey said in U.S. District Court, Davenport.
Trial testimony at times was "bizarre," Jarvey added, noting an instance where Jesse James attempted to compare himself to the Tuskegee Airmen.
"He did all of this and he did it in the name of God Almighty," Jarvey said before handing down the life sentence. He was convicted using the same ruse before, Jarvey noted.
Prosecutor Don Allegro told Jarvey that Jesse James was not crazy like he claimed to be. "He knew exactly what he was doing," Allegro said.
"Life does fit this crime," he said. "This is a bad man."
For the trial, "we had prostitutes coming out of the woodwork wanting to testify against him" and how he negatively impacted their lives. Sometimes, prosecutors will lose sleep over cases that involve life sentences, Allegro said. "I don't think anybody's going to lose any sleep" about this case.
His attorney, Anne Laverty, said life in prison is cruel and unusual punishment in a case that did not involve large quantities of drugs and involved older convictions. Jesse James faced life because of those previous drug convictions.
Jesse James claimed he was the minister of the Temple of Truth and Wisdom, a minister who tried to wean crack-addicted prostitutes off the drug by controlling how much they smoked. He also claimed he had no idea who left nearly two ounces of the drug in his garage freezer, which police found in December 2007 during a raid at his home.
Officers found some of the drug in Jesse James's pocket, and he claimed he was merely holding onto the packet for a prostitute he was helping.
During his trial, several prostitutes or former prostitutes identified Jesse James as their primary dealer. Prosecutors also showed the jury some of his collection of naked photographs of the women he said he was ministering to.
Detectives investigating the December 2007 death of Agnes McFedries Kennedy searched Jesse James's house and a car. They found crack cocaine at the time. No one has been charged in connection with her death.

Pictures aren't fake, they are just professionally done--they are air brushed, touched up, etc. She is cute, but not as good looking as the pictures suggest. I did not enjoy my visit with her. She was drinking when I got there and was a bit tipsy from the start. I got the feeling that she was ashamed to be doing this and it really killed my interest. Would not recommend.
Went out for a little while for later afternoon, early evening hunt, did not bag nothing as usual, nothing for looks out anymore, I am picky, not much of anything, pretty dead anymore, few BSW and few WSW, seen what appeared to be WSW talking on c-ph. Hanging around chicken shack, hanging by alleywith dope fiend associates that hang around area, interested, not stop, she waved twice, cause her associates hanging around and broad daylite out in open, undercover could be watching on main street for someone to make pickup, did nort reconize at first then rembered her as someone I met just once and heard her talked about on earlier posts, at least think she was, longer hair then last fall, and just styled, new outfit on and same features, height, weight as little bit or amanda, looks like the party life or a girls lifestyle is getting her down, definatly notice difference from last October.
