Yes I did, would it be a good business decision to start haggling from $20 on up? Don't think so? Would it be a good decision to try and get $10 or twenty off, and get less than a commited performance? Don't think so.

A Davenport woman who prostituted a young girl for $100 in November, and the man who paid for her, were sentenced Thursday to a combined 32 years in prison and life-long probation.
Ileaser Geane Parker-Tatum, 42, of 1233 Scott St., and Glenn Dewitt Holland, 66, 719 W. 14th St., Davenport, pleaded guilty to charges related to prostituting two young girls. The other incident allegedly happened more than a decade ago.
Assistant Scott County attorney Julie Walton described the case as “sick and twisted” Thursday in court. According to court records, police were notified Dec. 4 of possible child abuse occurring at Ms. Parker-Tatum's residence.
On Nov. 17, Ms. Parker-Tatum allegedly arranged for Mr. Holland to perform a sexual act on an 11-year-old girl for $100, for which the girl was to receive $20. It happened inside a car while Ms. Parker-Tatum was driving, court records state.
Police allege that in 1995 Ms. Parker-Tatum and Mr. Holland had a nearly-identical arrangement with a 14- or 15-year-old girl, the records state.
Judge Marlita Greve sentenced Ms. Parker-Tatum on Thursday to a maximum of 22 years in prison, saying her criminal history of drug use and prostitution shows she hasn't reformed from other treatment.
Ms. Parker-Tatum pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree sexual abuse, pandering and child endangerment. Mr. Holland pleaded guilty last month to third-degree sexual abuse and lascivious acts with a child. Both received indeterminate sentences, which mean they could serve less than half their sentences based on a determination by the Iowa Department of Corrections.
Pleading before the court, the defendants admitted what they did. "I would like a chance to make amends," Mr. Holland said. Ms. Parker-Tatum told the court both God and the children forgave her, and she blamed her actions on drug addiction.

I'm not sure one way or the other, but one day earlier this week or maybe late last week I was driving throught the 3rd street area and caught a momentary glimpse of a girl coming down one of the side streets between 3rd and 4th streets near the 3rd street market. The look I got at her was very brief and I am not 100% sure but when I saw this pic my first impression was that it could have been the girl I saw. Possible this was simply because both the girl I saw and the one in the pic have large breasts, but there are other similarities too. When I circled around for a better look and to try to figure out if she was working versus just a girl walking down the street she was gone.
Someone just made me aware of this by a PM. Said it is new 2 area.

An East Moline man and Moline woman were arrested Sunday night in a sting that began with an ad on craigslist.com for a 'head specialist.' Police say Amanda Marie Hardy, 26, 3620 Pine Ridge Ct., and Roy XXXX, 38, of XXX XXXXX, were involved in a pimping and prostitution deal that used the popular Craig's List Web site to arrange meetings.
Both were arrested after an undercover police sergeant arranged a meeting with a woman after responding to an add on Craig's List for 'head specialist available,' according to an affidavit filed in Scott County District Court.
Bettendorf police Capt. Steve Brauer said before George Ramos was promoted to sergeant, he was the computer crimes expert at the department. Still, he occasionally re-visits his old post, as he did with this case. 'I just know he saw it, made the contact and went from there,' Capt. Brauer said.
The two met around 9:40 p.m. at the Traveler Hotel in the 400 block of 14th Street in Bettendorf, the affidavit states. The woman offered to provide oral sex to the plain clothes officer and was arrested, according to the affidavit.
Originally arrested under the name, Amanda Brahimi, Bettendorf police learned today that Amanda was using an alias. When the woman was being arrested, a truck with temporary Illinois tags left the parking lot. It was the same truck the woman rode in before meeting with the undercover officer, the affidavit states.
The truck allegedly returned to the hotel parking lot after officers took the suspected prostitute away. Police stopped the vehicle because its rear license plate wasn't lit, the affidavit states. The man allegedly gave contradicting stories about his actions and what he knew about the woman.
After Amanda was at the Scott County Jail, she told an officer there that she and the driver of the truck, identified as Roy XXXX, would share the money from a prostitution job he drove her to, the affidavit states. Then, they'd usually go get something to eat afterward, the affidavit states.
Amanda was charged with prostitution and Roy was charged with pimping. They both made first court appearances on the charges this morning. Their attorneys are expected to appear for them Tuesday morning.
Court records show Roy is currently on a six-month court supervision for an endangering the life of a child charge out of Rock Island County. Amanda has two prior prostitution arrests in Scott County in 1999. Roy and Amanda remained in the Scott County Jail late today on $9,750 and $6,500 bond, respectively.

What a pair of losers! How sad to think that these two are roaming the streets of the Quad Cities. This young lady if she had her head straight could be making much better decisions regarding her life. She needs to get rid of this creep and get into a program to straighten out her life. Here's hoping someone can talk some sense into her.

A Milan spa which recently came under fire after an employee was charged with prostitution may soon reopen if an agreement can be reached regarding access to the building.
Village and police officials met with Island Spa owner An Song, 63, and her lawyer today at a public hearing to determine if the business at 3422 E. 1st Ave. complied with city ordinances; specifically one stating that massages cannot take place behind locked doors.
Milan police shut down the business shortly after March 30 after receiving several anonymous complaints of alleged sexual acts being offered for money.
Hui Kim Chong, 44, of Colorado, an employee of the spa, was charged with prostitution April 12 after an undercover investigation conducted by Milan police.
There is a warrant out for Ms. Chong's arrest. She faces a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by a $2,500 fine and a year in jail.
According to Ms. Song's attorney, Matthew Leddin of Gallagher Millage & Gallagher, Davenport, it is believed Ms. Chong returned to Colorado after charges were filed.
According to Milan police, people entering Ms. Song's business could freely access the building's front door but had to ring a buzzer to gain entrance past the vestibule. One officer, who asked not to be named, said there was a camera in the entryway so that employees could determine who was trying to gain access -- which officers said could prevent police or state regulators from entering.
Mr. Leddin said there are no locks on any of the massage rooms.
After discussing city ordinances, village administrator Steve Seiver requested village attorney Lincoln Scott and Mr. Leddin draft an agreement that would allow Island Spa to reopen on the condition that Island Spa's doors not be locked during business hours.
The business is expected to reopen in a couple of days after an agreement between both attorneys has been reached and receives Mr. Seiver's approval.
Village officials did not discuss the pending prostitution charge or license and registration of the business at the hearing, as these will be handled by the state.
A 'Closed by order of Milan Police Department' sign on the door of the spa has been removed.

This could get deleted but attorney Matthew Leddin mentioned in the case below I knew throughout college but I haven't talked to him in about 8 years. He was my roommate for one year- a year too much! Not exactly the most honest and trustworthy guy. He was the kind of guy I'd hate to admit being a friend of. With her gone there may not be anyone around who can tell newbies from regulars at this point. In the end I think they will go back to business as usual after a short period of paranoia, I doubt many AMPs could survive on legit massage fees alone. I don't remember the camera in the entry the story mentions. Does anyone else remember a camera there?

If it's the Mary Ann I'm thinking of that has been mentioned several times on here, you are absolutly correct. She is definately P2P, but from what I hear very reasonable price and service wise. Curiosity got the better of me tonight and I stopped by Island Spa. I am happy to say things are buisness as usual. Was greeted at the door by Penny but was handed off to a new face I have never seen before. The only difference I found was that they are much more cautious about things now. Got asked lots of questions about if I had been there before and such trying to feel me out. Pretty much the standard service but as I was getting ready to leave I got into a conversation about the trouble they have had latley. I was told that there troubles stemmed from a problem customer that they had to eventually refuse service to, once they did this he went to the local LE. I was told that they were not acutally caught doing any thing they wernt supposed to be doing. So for what it is worth thats my story just though I would pass it along.

There hasn't been anything in Clinton since way back when Silk & Satin was open. I ordered some carry out from there, right before they went out of business. Thin black girl. I think I'm going to set a posting record today.
I just noticed a new CL ad, posted at 8am, which is odd, because I've been looking at CL all day. I think the person who I mentioned in my "Fishy" post may have taken down her ad and replaced it with this one, but I can't be sure. Definitely not the same phone number.

Tuesday, Scott County Attorney Bill Davis took only one day to present his case against the 21-year-old Davenport woman, who is charged in the Jan. 5 stabbing death of her boyfriend, Allen 'A.J.' Johnson, 34, of Davenport. In his opening statements, Mr. Davis said his case would be short and sweet with Ms. Price's own words making up a lot of it.
Jurors heard from a 911 operator who answered Ms. Price's frantic call after the stabbing at 316 S. Elmwood Ave.
Throughout the day, Ms. Price repeatedly cried in the courtroom as she listened to her own words as they replayed. 'We were fighting and I, so I stabbed him. I'm sorry,' a crying Ms. Price said on the 911 tape.
Davenport police Officer Jennifer Brewer was the first officer to arrive on the scene. She saw Mr. Johnson lying twisted on the floor just inside the front door. 'All he could do was gurgle,' Officer Brewer said.
A six-inch common kitchen knife was found on the floor. Asked if it was the same one as entered into evidence, Officer Brewer, who appeared a little shaken, said, 'This is something that's actually stuck in my head.' Scott County Medical Examiner Dr. Barbara Harre said the stab wound punctured the right ventricle of Mr. Johnson's heart. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Inside the house, police found plastic baggies, a scale, a mirror with cocaine on it and several packages of cocaine in the toilet. Dr. Harre said a small amount of cocaine was found in a baggie in Mr. Johnson's sock.
Detective Rick Voy testified about an interview with Ms. Price after the incident. On a tape of the interview, Ms. Price explained in a mumbled voice about yet another fight regarding a drug run earlier in the evening before the stabbing.
Ms. Price said she was assaulted by Mr. Johnson outside of his house and later he attacked her again. 'He was coming at me like he was going to hit me and I stabbed him,' Ms. Price said. She was sobbing when asked by the detective if she stabbed him just one time. ''Yes'', she replied. "Then what did you do with the knife?'' ''I pulled it out'', she cried, asking several times if the detective knew how Johnson was doing.explaining how she stabbed him once, dropped the knife and Mr. Johnson fell down the stairs.
Ms. Price said some of Mr. Johnson's last words were, 'There's going to be murder charges on you.' Prosecutors played a 30 minute portion of the tape, but Defense Attorney Dave Treimer asked that the rest of the tape be played for the jury, including the part when Price finds out Johnson has died. It is then Price is told that Johnson ''passed away'' at Genesis East Hospital. She appears stunned, stares straight ahead for half a minute, then collapses into tears, ''I wanna be with him, I wanna go see him''.
Mr. Treimer has a motion to allow battered women's syndrome in as a reason for the killing, but Iowa law hasn't yet recognized it as a defense, he said. Judge David Sivright has yet to rule on the motion.
For the defense, Ms. Price's mother and sister took the stand, explaining the abusive relationship between Ms. Price and Mr. Johnson. 'There were always black eyes and bruises,' said Elizabeth Price, Ms. Price's mother. Heather Price explained in long detail about seeing Mr. Johnson assault her sister multiple times. Even after being assaulted and told to leave Mr. Johnson, Heather Price said her sister would always say, 'No, I love him too much.'
Tremier told the jury Johnson dealt drugs, that the house he was living in was the subject of a police search warrant, and a detective testified some crack cocaine was found in the toilet when authorities arrived to investigate the stabbing.
Wednesday the 21 year old Ms. Price took the stand in her own defense and told the jury she stabbed Johnson because she was afraid she was about to be beaten again.
Defense Attorney Dave Treimer took Price through nearly a dozen alleged prior incidents of abuse, Price referring to a handwritten list of alleged prior physical altercations with Johnson, including a time when she says she was kicked so hard in the stomach, she lost the couple's unborn baby, but says she lied to hospital staff about what happened. ''I told them I got in a car accident and they told me to come in, and when I came in the baby had no heartbeat'', testified Price.
At one point, she showed the jury how she stabbed Johnson once in the chest during the fatal fight. ''I threw the knife at him, I had my eyes closed, and oh God'', wept Price.
But under cross examination, Scott County attorney Bill Davis hammered away at her testimony. He asked why she stayed with Johnson all those times, and hinted she didn't stay for love, but for drugs and sex. Davis asked her about comments she made to friends about attacking Johnson if he ever hit her again. ''I did make the plan in the future to try and stab him, if he hit me again, and I had no intention of killing him'', said Price. Davis countered. ''But you did intend to stab him, didn't you? Price replied. ''yes, I wanted him to go to the hospital to see what it was like to spend time in the hospital like he did to me''.
Wednesday under questioning by prosecutor Davis, Price admitted she had worked as a prostitute for a month at the now closed Sugars in Davenport. She said she had been doing drugs since the age of 13, and still smoked pot and snorted cocaine, but says the reason she stayed with Johnson through the abuse, was because she loved him and didn't want to live without him.
Johnson's family shook thier heads in disbelief several times during Price's testimony. While the jury may aquit her or find her guilty of four lesser charges, Johnson's aunt Letha Knox says she ''is praying justice will be served.''
Price was offered a deal if she plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter, but chose to go to trial instead. The case is currently being delibirated by the jury. If convicted Price is facing up to fifty years in prison. If she is not found guilty, or if her sentence is probation Ms Price will be single and available.

A former Sugar's "dancer" will face a second trial for second-degree murder after a mistrial was declared Friday. Authorities plan to proceed with a new trial against defendant Megan Price, 21, of Davenport, Scott County Attorney Bill Davis said. A pretrial conference is scheduled for June 22.
The nine women and three men on the Scott County jury deliberated for portions of three days but failed to come to agreement on a verdict.
During the trial, Price admitted to fatally stabbing her boyfriend, Allen Christopher Johnson, 34, of Davenport on Jan. 5, but she claimed it was done in self-defense after she endured months of physical abuse during their 11-month relationship.
The jury heard two recorded confessions, one in a 911 call made moments after the stabbing and a second that was videotaped a few hours later at the Davenport Police Department. The jury heard further testimony about drug use and infidelity during the relationship and that Price talked with friends about stabbing her boyfriend as a way of stopping the beatings.
Price was surrounded by her family as she left the courthouse and declined comment. Her attorney, David Treimer, however, found something positive to take from the jury's inability to reach a verdict. "Any day you can walk out of the courtroom in a murder trial is a good day," he said. "I'm just disappointed they didn't deliberate to a not-guilty verdict."

Davenport has always had a street scene. It ebbs and flows. I would say that lately we are in low tide. There are a few choice SW out there. But the quality and quanity vary.
That being said. Your Radison Hotel location puts you very close to the stroll. Check out the map listed here. I wouldnt recommend the Illinois side but the Iowa side is accurate.
The nicer weather brings them out, but next week is Sturgis on the River which will be near the stroll. I would guess that having 15000 bikers in town might make things more interesting.

A Davenport woman accused of killing her boyfriend will go back on trial Aug. 6. The first trial of Megan Price for second-degree murder ended earlier this month with a hung jury. The new trial date was set during a brief hearing Friday in Scott County District Court.

Thirteen people found Monday a bad day to shop for sex in downtown Davenport.
In a sting using undercover female Davenport police officers, 12 men and one woman were arrested for prostitution. All were misdemeanor charges.
A 39-year-old woman was arrested for interference with official acts and harassment of a public official for telling one man he was speaking to an undercover police officer, according to police.
The men ranged in age from 17 to 26, according to police. Five of the men were from Davenport, but one man was from Dubuque, Iowa, and another man, who works for a local trucking company, provided an address in Buckeye, Ariz. The Davenport woman arrested for prostitution was 19.
The men solicited various sex acts for $20-$40 according to police reports.
The sweep, involving officers from the department’s vice, patrol and NETS units, worked from about 4 p.m. to midnight on detail, according to police. About 20 officers were involved.
Arrests were made from River Drive to about three blocks north, and from Pershing Street west to South Concord Street, according to police.

They weren't supposed to be together, but a Davenport couple were joined again Monday, arrested with 11 others in a prostitution sting.
Lee Andrew Ford, 42, allegedly offered a woman $20 for a sex act, according to affidavits filed in Scott County District Court. The woman was an undercover police officer posing as a prostitute. Mr. Ford was arrested and charged with prostitution at about 10:30 p.m.
His wife, Melissa C. Ford, 39, was arrested about 4 hours earlier in the same area, 2nd and Warren streets, according to another court affidavit. Mrs. Ford was arrested when she tried warning a man that the woman he was talking to was an undercover officer, the affidavit states.
She was arrested again a bit later in the area of 4th and Myrtle streets. During the arrest, she allegedly slipped the handcuffs off her wrist in an attempt to flee, the affidavit states. She was charged with interference with official acts and harassment of a public official.
She joined her husband Tuesday morning, appearing via closed-circuit TV in Scott County District Court.
The Fords are scheduled to appear in court today over a temporary protective order for 'relief from domestic abuse.' It was filed last week.

Despite warnings from others I called Rhonda yesterday to see if I could set up an appointment. She told me she was getting kicked out of the hotel because of the Bix crowd and wanted to know if she could come to my place. Instead we agreed to meet at a spot near the hotel. I could hear a dog barking in the background. When I arrived in the hotel neighborhood (North Brady) there was a police cruiser there. Investigated and saw LE questioning a black guy with a dog in the distant parking lot. Hung around, Rhonda was a noshow. Maybe she finally got nabbed.

Asked her if she had serious health problems and got a blank stare. Wound up taking her to a gas station, she wanted cigarettes. She was in there for about 5 minutes when a cop car pulls into the station lot and parks where she would not see it, if she came out. I check my pockets and oh shit my DL is in my wallet in the trunk of the car. I put it there so it would not get stolen. Figure even though she will really be pissed. I take off. Do not think she will see me again if I call her. Cop car follows me almost all the way to I-74. Makes me real gald I did not wait for her.
Also Rhonda is back up on craigslist. She says this time it is really her. The last few ads that were up about her she claims are fake! This time she lists her hotel phone number and room number. She will be there until tomorrow- guess that is when the money runs out.

The Supreme Court of Iowa suspended Bill Davis' law license Monday. Up until the suspension Davis had been the attorney for Scott County. This suspension forced him to take a leave of absense from his job.
Court filings report Davis didn't file trust account records for one of his private practice clients.
He says, "It's a case of omission it wasn't a mistake it was stupid and I did it and now I'm being held to answer like everybody else and I should be."
He was reprimanded by the Iowa Attorney discplinary board for the second time last week. Davis says the county should not notice any change in his office because his first assistant will most likely be appointed on an interim basis by the county board Thursday night at 5:30.
The Scott County adminstrator, Ray Wierson, agrees, "I would suspect that they would be appointing the first assistant attorney who is Mike Walton."
Bill Davis says he hopes this suspension can be resolved quickly. "I will be driving those papers to Des Moines tomorrow and filing them with the clerk.I am very hopefulI will be unsuspended and reinstated very shortly like within a week."
Davis says he closed his private practice in April last year and this is left over fromthat time. He says hecould not speak specifically to the paperwork in question because of attorney-client privilege.
He wants to be reinstated before the murder retrail of former Sugars dancer Megan Price begins in August.

The number in the CL ad is the same one she gave me. She is rather cute. 1000% better than all but one of the girls I saw out on my last trip to town. Guess as the old saying goes YMMV. I think she was rather upset that she was not getting as much $$ as she wanted. A lot of girls especially ones on Rockford, think that they can raise thier rates by a factor of 3 or 4 just by going online. They are not worth it.
I ran into Rhonda last night/early this morning by accident. After a long night at TBS and Jolly Rogers I did a check of CL and called the motel ad. No idea it was her. I would agree that she is very cute, and thin. She looks better with her clothes on. The habit will eat her up quickly if she is truly into it, which I don't doubt.
I had a good time with her, but then I paid her only a little less than what she wanted ($ vs $.5). For FS incall in a hotel with an attractive gal, it was not out of line IMHO. Seems you guys are more interested in looking at a picture of a girl you know nothing about. The one I dubbed notbrenda has 597 views, while poor brenda who is available and looking in the QC has only had 127 views and her picture has been up here for a day longer.
BTW notbrenda is not available in the QC. She may be available. I got her picture off of a CD a friend gave me as a joke. I am guessing she is what would be considered a semi-pro. I cant actaully run the CD since it is all for Windows and I have a Mac. But from the accompanying literature the girls on the CD are all from Eastern Europe and speak english, they also all have what would here be considered decent resepctable jobs: dental assistant, accountant travel agent etc. However they get paid poorly and cant afford decent avactaions. They have thus signed up for a serice where a guy from the US (or other well off country) will pay for their vacation for a week or 2 to a resort in the Caribbean andin exchange she will be your girlfriend while you are there. When Elizabeth was 3, her father showed her how to smoke marijuana. It got much worse after that.
Pregnant at 16. Homeless at 17. Death of a newborn child at 18. Alcoholic and drug addict at 19. Pregnant at 21. Weighed 330 pounds at 23. After gastric bypass, down to 83 pounds and a nervous breakdown at 24.
Then an OxyContin addiction, morphine overdose, prostitution, her kids taken away by the state and a first suicide attempt.
Elizabeth, now 28, has triumphed over the myriad obstacles, addictions, and nightmares in her life and now helps others by volunteering at the Riverside chemical dependency treatment program at Trinity West in Rock Island. She asked that her last name and photo be withheld because she's a regular at Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
"Going to meetings every day was the only thing that was keeping me clean," the single mother of three said recently. "They were people like me. They loved me not because of how much money I had, how many drugs I had done. They loved me because I was in so much pain, I couldn't love myself."
Women like Elizabeth will be the clients at the $2 million, eight-unit Douglas Park Place (DPP) complex at 720 9th St., Rock Island. In addition to providing a safe, affordable place to live, DPP will offer a key link to counseling, treatment, parenting education, and help with job training.
"It's really important for women to come together and support each other," Elizabeth said. "This place opening in Rock Island I think is wonderful, to allow women to have a place to raise their kids that's safe and drug-free, to have that check-and-balance system so you're not going to be able to run rampant."
"It's so easy for single moms especially to get trapped with stress, with financial insecurity," she said, speaking from experience. "Someone has told them, 'You're not smart enough, you're not able to do this.' I never thought I'd be able to stop using drugs."
Single moms "desperately want to be a good mother, but a lot of them just don't know how. They're surrounded by people doing drugs, and it gets to the point where anything is OK -- the most unacceptable behavior becomes acceptable, and it's the kids that suffer the most."
Kicked out by her stepfather after she had her oldest daughter in high school, Elizabeth had her second child six weeks early, who died shortly after birth.
She was given her own place by grandparents, but fell in with wrong crowd and took pot, acid, cocaine and heroin.
After her son (now 7) was born, she ballooned to over 300 pounds and had gastric bypass surgery that "went horribly wrong." Elizabeth ended up in the hospital on morphine for 28 days. When she left, she "was a full-blown addict," and was hooked on the painkiller OxyContin.
With money made as a prostitute, Elizabeth paid a nurse to steal morphine from cancer patients, she said. She also stole drugs from her grandmother.
"I overdosed; I almost died," Elizabeth said. "I was in the ICU for three weeks," and had her first visit with the Riverside treatment program, but convinced a doctor she'd never do drugs again and was released.
Then, the state put her kids in protective custody and on Easter Sunday 2003, Elizabeth parked on the I-74 bridge, intending to jump. She called Riverside from there, and said "Tell my kids I'm sorry. I love them but I can't do this."
Miraculously, a drug counselor who lived in Henry County went into the office that night at 10 p.m., answered the phone, and talked Elizabeth down off the bridge.
She completed three weeks of inpatient detoxification at Riverside, attended group and individual counseling, and then did six weeks of outpatient treatment.
After still using drugs, she failed urine tests and was kicked out of the program. She smashed dishes at home and cut herself with the pieces. She begged her way back into Riverside and started going to 12-step recovery meetings.
"I laid my head down on a table and started to cry. I don't want to be a junkie anymore," Elizabeth remembered. "I just did it with everything I could. I was humiliated, so full of guilt."
She started leading NA and AA meetings at Riverside in 2004. She met a guy with whom she had a daughter in 2005, but that relationship was abusive and they "fought almost continuously," Elizabeth said.
Still, she married him and later in 2005 she showed up at her sponsor's house covered "head to toe" in bruises, "like someone had just pummeled me for months," she said. Her now-ex served jail time for domestic battery.
Elizabeth lost it again, went on a drinking binge for three days and in March 2006, tried to kill herself by using a razor on her wrists and her leg.
She began a "long, painful journey back," completing the Riverside inpatient and outpatient programs again. "I knew it was a life or death decision. I knew this was not the way I wanted to live."
She's been clean and sober ever since, is working for an in-home hospice care, and still attends the 12-step meetings regularly. She got custody of her son back, and last week sued her oldest daughter's dad for full custody.
"What got me through it the most is the relationships I built with other people who are recovering addicts," Elizabeth said. "They're people that knew what I was going through, that understood my pain."
She wants to go back to school (she had attended Black Hawk College) and open a counseling center to help single parents get their kids back from foster care.
"She is wonderful. I'm confident that she is going to be a success," Ametra Carrol, incoming DPP on-site manager, said of Elizabeth.
"That's what Douglas Park Place is about, to help women be a success. We want it to be supportive," Ms. Carrol, a former crack addict herself, said. She hopes to open DPP by Sept. 1.
"I want to be a good role model for my children," Elizabeth said. "The only way I know is to continue to go to meetings. My kids deserve to have a good mom."
Nice work, Mister Quick. Although this forum is about having a good time, sometimes a serious note needs to be sounded to remind us all of what the "street life" can do to a female.

Getting out of jail will be a little easier thanks to a decision by the Iowa Supreme Court to lower the amount of bonds that some inmates can pay to be released.
The court also ordered that police no longer stack crimes to ensure higher bonds for people charged with crimes. Instead, courts now can impose only the bond for the highest criminal charge.
The order, filed Aug. 2, takes effect Wednesday.
The court said the changes were made as part of a periodic review of the bond schedule that found that modifications were warranted.
The change will mean, for example, that someone charged with prostitution will face a bond of $2,000, rather than $6,500 for the aggravated misdemeanor. The person could be released after paying the bond, or paying 10 percent to a bail bondsman.
Bonds won't change for many more serious charges, including assault, murder, sexual abuse or robbery.

I was in Davenport Friday night and spent some time on the stroll. Did not see anything that looked too good so I went over to Jolly Rogers for a little while to kill some time. Had a little fun there and hit the stroll again around 2:15 am. I ended up picking up Laura and we made a trip to her house near St. Ambroze college. It was late and I was tired so we just did a bj for .25.

I got into Davenport about midnight last night and decided to look for some fun. I make several trips around the stroll and didn't see anything worth stopping for so I made a visit to Jolly Roger's. Once again I was treated to a little rubbing under the bar and had some fun.

Police say she was a week away from becoming homeless.
On Tuesday, a posting on craigslist.com was titled, 'Soon to becoming (sic) homeless, will exchange sex for a place to stay - 57.'
The ad, which listed a photo and phone number, said the woman could please a male roommate in Davenport sexually and 'if I don't charge you money, it isn't prostitution said the police.'
However, the law says, 'A person who sells or offers for sale the person's services as a partner in a sex act, or who purchases or offers to purchase such services, commits an aggravated misdemeanor.'
Friday, Brenda G. Harris, 57, of 3574 Heatherton Dr., Davenport, appeared in Scott County District Court on a single count of prostitution. An affidavit in support of the charge says Ms. Harris was responsible for the ad and she admitted it was wrong.
Police were tipped off to the ad around 4:15 p.m. Thursday when someone called in a complaint of prostitution at Ms. Harris' apartment, the affidavit states.
Ms. Harris was released from the Scott County Jail after her court appearance this morning. An attorney is expected to appear for her on Monday.
This isn't the first case of Quad-Cities police becoming involved with the Craigslist Web site for sexual services.
In May, Bettendorf police arrested Amanda M. Hardy, 26, 3620 Pine Ridge Ct., Moline, and Roy , 38, of East Moline.
Both were arrested after an undercover police sergeant arranged a meeting with a woman after responding to an add on Craiglist for ``head specialist available,'' according to an affidavit filed in Scott County District Court.
The ad was discovered by a Bettendorf sergeant who occasionally monitors potential computer crimes.
Amanda and Roy were arrested at the Traveler Hotel in Bettendorf when police set up a sting.
Amanada was given a two-year suspended prison sentence and a year of probation after pleading guilty to prostitution in August. Roy is set to stand trial Sept. 24 on a single charge of pimping, a felony.

My business has a location in Davenport. When there were breakins going on, the Davenport police didn't seem all that well tooled to fight crime. Maybe they were off chasing old lady prostitues.

I guess I don't understand why the DPD couldn't have had a female officer go to her residence and let her know that what she is doing is a crime and to offer her the names and numbers of social organizations in case she goes homeless. Problem solved, ad taken down, a woman who is about to lose everything keeps some dignity, she finds a place to go AND the taxpayers save money.

It's going to be a trend more and more so, that places like Sugar's moves from the downtown streets to online arrangements. Sites similar to Craig's List that cater purely to sex are popping up by the dozens on a daily basis. There is no way the authorities will be able to police cyberspace when they can't keep the actual streets safe.

My girlfriend should be glad that she is not on the Iowa side of the river. She lost her job last spring and moved in with me and a am pretty certain that I would not be supporting her if we were not having sex on a regular basis. She had the attention of two Aldermen, Meyers and Howard, Mayor Winborn, the City Manager Craig Malin. and the outgoing Police Chief. There wasn't any tipster, they had been monitoring her for weeks. All fun aside, she had a weapon and was telling people in her apt complex that she was going to use it on anyone that left after seeing her who didn't pay cause she was old and ugly. That was the real reason of concern on this lady. The weapon was secured after her arrest. The prostitution isn't a big deal, but a unstable and mentally challenged individual with a weapon is serious. She needed to be taken out. My Ninja MEG friend filled me in on this one. I guess it was pretty comical, see they busted her twice. Once a week ago then Thursday night again. Both times she came to the door and said "I am guilty". I might ask Meyer about it at Church next sunday. He loves to share. By the way, the paper screws stories up all the time, there are a bunch of facts not correct in thisarticle for example. Like this very minute she is sitting in jail, not released.

Something I have notice on the QC CL postings is it is very easy to find the spam b the title. If it says "Quad Cities, Ia/il" in the title, it is spam. The spamnots just take the location from the title page. Real posters either just say Quad Cities (we all know what states they are in) or else the specific city they are in (Davenport, Milan, etc). This does not work for other areas since they will have the name of the city in the title bar (Peoria, Chicago etc).

Welcome to my first QC report. Let me say I am not sure I got the name right as she did not speak clearly, but I was not that interested in the name. She was roaming the stroll west of downtown Dport. She was highly drunk as she told me she had been drinking for 12 hours over mean treatment by her boyfriend. she was also high on crack. I checked for marks but there was nothing too obvious. She was blonde, about 40, heavy on top, but also rather heavy in the middle. She was very affectionate the moment she climbed in the car. She wanted to go back to her place, but it was a dump and watched by half the lowlifes on the block. She wanted .4 for mouth action- negotiated her to 2. Skills were actually pretty decent. The Mann Act, also known as the White Slave Traffic Act, was the vehicle that grand juries in Rock Island and Davenport used to indict Helen Van Dale in 1922. She was an associate of local crime boss John Looney. She was considered queen of the underworld in the Quad-Cities during the early 1900s when most cities had red-light districts. She operated several brothels. Brothels were legal and openly available within segregated vice districts of cities.
The Mann Act enacted in 1910 was named for its sponsor Rep. James R. Mann, Illinois. It deals with prostitution and child pornography. Prior to 1910 there was a large movement of the population in the country from the countryside to the cities. The typewriter, telephone switchboard and the growth of department stores made it possible for single women to support themselves. As a result, life in the cities became freer for single women. There was a sort of moral panic developing concerning the lives they led.
Efforts to pass the act were backed by increasing media frenzy. It was alleged that young females were coerced and/or drugged at train stations to get them involved in prostitution when they arrived in the city. There was even a wild belief that drugs were shot into women while they were walking. Those women would then supposedly wake up in the morning and find themselves in a brothel where they were forced to stay. Thus the term "white slave."
The legislation was intended to stop interstate trafficking of women. The act made it a felony to knowingly transport any woman or girl in interstate commerce for "prostitution, debauchery, or any other immoral purpose." In 1922 Ms. Van Dale was arrested for transporting women from Rock Island to Davenport and back again for immoral purposes. At the time she operated the Palmer Inn, on Nahant Road.
Sections 2421 to 2423 of the Mann Act prohibits transporting any individual, male or female, in interstate or foreign commerce in the U.S. for the purpose of prostitution or sexual activity which is a criminal offense under the federal or state statute or local ordinance. Section 2423 relating to the transportation of a minor provides for a stiffer penalty. Ms. Van Dale was often accused of transporting minors.
Section 2423 of the law was amended in 1978, 1986 and again in 1994. In 1978 Congress amended the act to attack the problem of child pornography. It made that provision gender neutral for both boys and girls who were sexually exploited. In 1986 the law was amended and made the entire act gender neutral. References to debauchery and any other immoral purpose were changed to "any sexual activity for which any person can be charged with a criminal offense." The change took the government out of the business of defining immoral. On Sept. 13, 1994, President Clinton signed the Violent Crime Control and Law enforcement Act. It includes an extension of the Mann Act that provides new tools for fighting both American sexual abuse of children overseas and international child pornography, which has the special patronage of pedophiles.
In the 1900s communities appointed vice commissions to decide if prostitutes participated willingly. In 1915 the Supreme Court held that under certain circumstances a woman could be indictable as a conspirator in her own transportation. In 1932 the court held that a woman who merely assents to her transportation was not guilty of a substantive offense under the statutes.
In the Van Dale case the alleged vice queen was accused of seducing 15- and 16-year-olds from their homes. When the crime clean-up came in Rock Island she moved to Davenport transporting all of her girls to Davenport.
Helen Van Dale, alleged white slaver, in her lonely cell in the Scott County Jail, was disappointed that her "friends" did not come to her rescue according to the Davenport Democrat and Leader Dec. 12, 1922. She was alleged to be the sweetheart of Tom Cox the chief of police of Rock Island.

This happened a few weeks ago. Kind of a shame these girls seem to have a knack of picking loser boyfriends. Not sure why.
The mother of a man fatally stabbed by Megan Price described a Scott County jury’s verdict of voluntary manslaughter against her as a mixed blessing.
Lucille Bea, whose son, Allen Johnson, 34, was killed Jan. 5 at his Davenport duplex, said she hoped the jury would find Price guilty of second-degree murder. Instead, the jury returned the verdict on the lesser charge Wednesday after three hours of deliberation.
Megan Price, 21, of 3232 Davenport, was originally charged with voluntary manslaughter. Claiming self-defense, she decided to go to trial rather than plead guilty to the original charge. At that point, prosecutors upped the charge to second-degree murder when the case went to trial the first time in May.
“I’m happy for the verdict because she took my son’s life,” Bea said. “We kind of figured it was guilty.
“We were hoping for second-degree murder. When they said voluntary manslaughter, my heart dropped.”
Price and Johnson dated for nearly a year. They argued earlier in the night and were arguing in an upstairs bedroom when the stabbing occurred, according to testimony. Price’s mother and sister testified to incidents of domestic violence during the relationship that preceded the fatal stabbing.
It was the second trial for second-degree murder for Price. The first trial ended with a hung jury after deliberating for parts of three days in May.
Taken into custody following the verdict Wednesday, Price is scheduled for sentencing Sept. 6.
She faces a 10-year sentence with no mandatory minimum sentence. If she had been convicted of second-degree murder, she would have faced a 50-year sentence with a mandatory 35-year minimum sentence.
“It is a victory, but not the victory we wanted,” defense attorney Dave Treimer said. “If ever there was a case where a woman defended herself, it was this.”
He intends to appeal the verdict based on testimony on battered women syndrome being disallowed in the trial.
Scott County Attorney Mike Walton was pleased that the jury reached a verdict, saying the crime fit both charges. Voluntary manslaughter is a lesser charge included in second-degree murder.
The voluntary manslaughter charge is a crime committed in “the heat of passion,” Walton said, while second-degree murder includes “malice aforethought.”
“I think malice aforethought was the tough part of the case,” Walton said.
The case involved testimony of domestic abuse. Price admitted to police she stabbed Johnson at his duplex on South Elmwood Avenue during an argument after several months of physical violence.
A recording of the 911 call Price made after the stabbing, sobbing hysterically as she waited for help, was played for the jury. Her video-recorded statement was also shown to the jury. She admitted to stabbing Johnson when she thought he was going to hit her. She also asked about his welfare during the interview.
“Even if a woman is being abused, is it reasonable to kill the abuser?” Walton said. “I said no, and I think the jury said no.”
Along with her video-recorded statement she made to a Davenport police detective, Price testified in the first trial. She didn’t testify in the second trial. Treimer couldn’t say what the difference was for the jury.
“We’ve done it both ways and didn’t get a verdict in the first,” he said. “She was eloquent in her interview with police.”

A Florida man was jailed over the weekend for allegedly exposing himself and attempting to solicit sex from a waitress at a Bettendorf restaurant.
Steven Bryant Smith, 54, of Clearwater, Fla., was charged in Scott County Court with misdemeanor public intoxication and prostitution. He's scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 29.
According to an affidavit filed in Scott County District Court, on Friday, Mr. Smith asked the front-desk clerk at the Holiday Inn to call an escort service and get him a woman for $200.
On Saturday, police were called Bennigan's restaurant - adjacent to the Holiday Inn at 909 Middle Road - shortly before 10:30 p.m. after a waitress allegedly saw Mr. Smith with his pants undone and exposing himself, the affidavit states.
Although Mr. Smith said nothing to the initial waitress, he offered another waitress $200 to go to the hotel with him to "get naked," the affidavit states.
Police say the man appeared drunk and had a blood-alcohol content of 0.14.
Mr. Smith was taken to Scott County Jail. He went before a judge Sunday, where he was appointed a lawyer. He remained in jail late Monday on $2,000 bond.

Angela Marie Hennes went missing for 10 days in January. Her body then turned up in a farm field off Seven Sisters Road, in rural Scott County. Face down in the fetal position, her body had been badly burned.
Toxicology reports show she had no drugs or alcohol in her system. The last anyone saw her was when she was leaving her apartment on an unusually warm January day.*
Did anyone see anything? Scott County Sheriff’s investigators are asking, as they slowly, maddeningly piece together evidence that will one day reveal a killer.
“We haven’t given up,” Sheriff’s Capt. LeRoy Kunde said.
New information comes in daily, Kunde said. But what is really needed is a witness to blow the case open, someone who may have seen the
41-year-old Davenport mother of two sons at some point between Jan. 3 and Jan. 13, 2007.
In the hopes of sparking a memory, the Scott County Sheriff’s Department released more information about the case this month.
According to investigators:
Hennes had a troubled past that included drug problems and engaging in prostitution to help pay for the habit.
She could often be seen walking along 4th, 3rd and 2nd streets between her residence at the Ledo Apartments, 411 W. 4th Street, and Myrtle Street. Often, her boyfriend could be seen walking with her or on the other side of the street.
But there was much more to her as a person, Kunde said.
“She got caught up in a bad lifestyle,” he said. “But everyone who knew her, everyone we’ve talked to, has described her as cordial, polite, likeable.”
It is evident, he said, that Hennes had the capacity to have done much more with her life.
Sheriff’s Maj. Mike Brown said that Hennes’ burned body was found about 4 p.m. Jan. 13 in the 15000 block of 100th Avenue, also known as Seven Sisters Road. A vehicle’s tire tracks were also discovered.
Before it was blocked off, he said, the area was sometimes used by prostitutes and their customers.
“The pathologist said she had been dead two maybe three days at most,” Brown said. “But she had been missing for 10 days. What we want to know is what she was doing and who she was with those other seven or eight days.”
He added that Hennes’ cell phone went off the day she disappeared, which was Jan. 3.
Gerald Bolt, the farmer who discovered Hennes’ body on his property, estimated at that time that he had last checked his property on Jan. 10, a Wednesday.
“Her boyfriend said he last saw her about 9 p.m. or so,” Kunde said. “He said she was heading to the grocery store. He thinks he may have seen her get in a vehicle later.”
Jan. 3, a Wednesday, was a warm day for the month with the high reaching 50 degrees. The low was 31 degrees. The next day, Thursday, was even warmer with the mercury hitting 52 degrees.
It was unusually warm the next week with highs mostly in the 40s and 50s. It wasn’t until the day her body was found that the high temperature remained below freezing. Yet, there had been traces of snow on several of those days.
For a time, investigators were concerned she had been killed by someone just passing through, possibly a long-haul truck driver.
“But those were not 18-wheel tracks we found,” Brown said. “I don’t think you could get an 18-wheeler in there and then get it out again.”
Besides, he said, something that big on that road would have looked out of place.
“The big questions are: Where was she those other seven or eight days,” he said. “Who was she with? Where were they all that time? What were they doing? And did anybody see them?”
If she was not being held against her will, then did she know her killer? Did she trust him? And why was she killed?
The Sheriff’s Department has not released the cause of death. As Brown explained, they want to be able to hold something back so that “wannabes” can be weeded out when they call, and they do. They also want to be able to verify any information that may be given to them by the killer when, not if, he is caught.
Hennes’ family
Hennes leaves behind family in the area. One of her sons, Matthew William Hennes, 24, lives in Davenport, and her other son, Daniel Jacob Priester, age 9, is being raised by his father Daniel Priester of Bettendorf, according to Scott County court records.
She is also survived by her parents, William and Linda Hennes, of Davenport; brother, Jeff Hennes; grandmother, Doris Ricketts; and many aunts, uncles and cousins, according to an obituary previously published in the Quad-City Times.
The obituary also stated Hennes was born Nov. 4, 1965, in Omaha, Neb., attended Davenport Catholic and public schools and graduated from high school in 1985. She went on to attend Scott Community College.
Hennes’ family has declined to comment on the case.
Sheriff’s investigators, with help from Davenport and Rock Island police, have questioned many people on both sides of the Mississippi River. But they have not been able to zero in on one suspect.
A dangerous profession
Those who engage in prostitution or pick prostitutes up for sex are taking a huge risk, said Davenport police Capt. David Struckman.
Calling it a “profession of desperation,” Struckman said that prostitution is often used to pay for a drug habit.***
“But it’s dangerous because most of the time you don’t know who you’re dealing with,” he said. “The prostitute doesn’t know who’s buying her services; and the person buying the services doesn’t know the medical or criminal history of the person they’ve picked up.”
Will the person paying for services get rolled, or will he pay for only so much and take advantage of the girl and demand more and do more, Struckman asked.
And then there is the chance of contracting a disease that can be carried to others.
It is not a victimless crime, Struckman added.
“If you take it at prima facie value, a man has paid a woman for a sex act,” he said. “It’s an agreement between two people for consensual sex. That’s one thing.
“But think about all the ramifications. What is she using the money for? What crimes might be involved around it? There could be a pimp somewhere, which is another crime. It just gets deeper and deeper and deeper.”

FIGHTING CRIME IN DOWNTOWN DAVENPORT
Security cameras are being set up around a 15-block area of the central city. Police patrol cars have the capability to tie into the cameras and record videos of crimes occurring.
That project is continuing, said interim Police Chief Don Schaeffer, adding that the cameras are being placed on public and not private property.
Former Police Chief Mike Bladel, who helped spearhead the use of cameras, said it would have been nice had they been set up earlier.
“Our personnel are aware of the issues,” Bladel said, adding that the department has been able to continue the focus to reduce street and vice crime in the downtown area.
Davenport police have fought the drug and prostitution culture in the downtown area over the years.
For the past several months, officers have been targeting the downtown area, and it has made a noticeable difference, officials said.
SEVEN SISTERS ROAD REMAINS CLOSED
A portion of Seven Sisters Road, where Angela Hennes’ dead body was found in January, remains closed to public access.
The Scott County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution to downgrade to “C” status part of the road, also called 100th Avenue, in March. Gates and no trespassing signs have since been put up on the road between Telegraph Road and West Locust Street.
A farmer found the burned remains of Hennes’ body in a field off the one-lane road, just outside Davenport city limits.
Area farmers complained to the county board that for years the stretch of road attracted “people and their girlfriends” as well as garbage and other unwanted items.
$5,000 REWARD
There remains a $5,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever killed Angela Marie Hennes.
Anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, should call, Scott County Sheriff’s Maj. Mike Brown said, adding that what may seem unimportant may be the clue that breaks the case.

Mid-November, I was downtown Davenport, trolling and mongering. It was earlier AM and I spotted a blonde SW on 2nd and Myrtle. Jumped in and we were off to a secluded spot. I initially just asked for HJ, but she was persuasive and I was.... feeling good. Got a bbbj and fs for two jacksons. She was spinner type, which I like, and she mounted me easily in the car. That was the fun part.
The not so fun part was that after we finished, my car wouldn't start. Ended up spending most of the wee hours of the morning trying to get a tow and get back home. My car was parked in an awkward spot shall we say.

Hit the Quad Cities yesterday to do shopping also decided to try and get lucky. Did not figure I would find much due to the weather. I was right.
Hit the stroll area mid evening and saw a couple of really desperate and ugly black girls out. They were dressed like it was summer and it obviously was not. Saw a few other cars cruising and those guys also ignored these girls, so I was not setting my expectations too high.
After awhile a saw a white girl who was all bundled up so I could not tell much about her. She did not look huge even in all her winter clothes so I figured she was not a whale of any sort. Saw her a few times and she acted like she was working but could never seem to get her attention. Turns out this was not much of a loss. I saw her take off her hood while she was getting into some other guys car. She was a brunette looked 40ish although she could have been 20 and a drug user. She was also on the "not so" side of attractive.
So then I see nothing at all out, except for the black girls who were not dressed for winter. About when I am about ready to give up a blonde girl driving a van gives me a weird look when I am stopped at a stop sign. I follow her and catch up at a red light. She is definitely giving me the eye but takes off a bit faster than I do. She makes it through the next light before it turns red, I am not so lucky.
I decide to start heading back out of town. The girl in the van is now flashing her brights. She has circled around behind me. I pull over and she pulls up next to me. She is on the better side of average looking. She tells me she saw me about a year and a half ago. Remembers my name, my job and where I took her. My memory is not as good. She tells me she will head up the block, park her van and come back to me. Cool. I read a report of girls doing this on the Rockford board.
She pulls away from me. Another car pulls up beside me and stops. In it is the brunette I had seen earlier and 3 big black guys. She jumps out and asks if she can have a ride. I tell her she just left a perfectly good car. She then says she wants to date me and had seen me earlier. I tell her I am not interested, but she seems unwilling to accept the fact. In the meantime the blonde in the van had parked it and was walking towards me, but seeing what was happening she goes back to her van and takes off. I am now pissed. I tell the brunette "OK, get in". The black guys in the car pull away, I could not have left since they were blocking me in. Davenport police are investigating the suspicious death of a Davenport woman and say she may have been the victim of a homicide.
Agnes McFedries Kennedy, 51, of Davenport, was found about 8:30 p.m. Saturday December 22 lying unresponsive in the alley in the 1800 block between West 7th and West 8th streets, Davenport. A couple returning to a residence near the scene discovered the body, police said.
Kennedy was unresponsive when emergency personnel arrived. She was transported to Genesis Medical Center, West Central Park, where she was pronounced dead.
"Due to the suspicious nature of the death and many unanswered questions, the death is being investigated as a homicide," Davenport police Capt. David Struckman said in a press release Sunday, Dec. 23. An autopsy was conducted Monday in Ankeney, Iowa, but results weren't immediately available.
We are in the process of gathering physical evidence, interviewing associates of the victim to determine her activities (Saturday) and attempting to contact any other persons who might have knowledge regarding the events that resulted in the death of (Kennedy), Struckman said.
Kennedy, the daughter of well-known Quad-Cities auctioneer Scotty McFedries, had numerous minor brushes with the law over the past few decades.
She had been found guilty of such charges as driving while barred, theft, failure to maintain control, speeding, registration violation, prostitution, driving with a suspended license, harassing a public official, operating a vehicle while her license was suspended and failure to maintain a safety belt.
"We know of her past. That has a lot to do with who she hangs out with," police Capt. David Struckman said Monday. "We have a person of interest we're looking for, but that's all he is right now, a person of interest."
Agnes McFedries Kennedy was known as "Aggy" to those who knew her while serving time in the Scott County jail.
"She was in there for different reasons including prostitution and stuff but she was really a sweet lady" said Misty Siek a former inmate. According to Siek, Kennedy was a prostitute to make her living.
"She was always careful tried to be safe andI know it's not the best thing to do to get money but she said she wasalways careful."
Siek was shocked when she heard the news that the body of the lady she first made friends with while in jail was discovered in an alley laying in the snow Saturday night.
Did she ever say anybody wanted to hurt her?
"No not really, she did say she had a couple of John's that were pretty rough with her" responded Siek.
"She doesn't live in that end of town where her body was found I don't think. She had the wrong idea of how to get money butI don't think anybody deserves to die like that."
In February 2005, the gentle-natured and soft-spoken Ms. Kennedy was interviewed by a reporter with The Dispatch and The Rock Island Argus about her life as a prostitute. The article used a pseudonym for Ms. Kennedy.
At 26, with three kids and a minimum-wage job, she couldn't pay her bills and Ms. Kennedy said she made the ultimate moral compromise. She went from working as a junior high school teacher's aide to working in a so-called "massage parlor" that in fact was a front for prostitution.
For the next 20-plus years, the life of prostitution came with a price. Though she eventually married, it didn't last. Some of her children, now grown, hated her, she said.
In the 1980s Ms. Kennedy was married for a time, but she continued to work until 4 a.m. at a massage parlor while her husband played Mr. Mom. "That didn't last long," she said.
And she'd been in jail numerous times for strings of prostitution arrests. The latest came in June 2006. She served 30 days in jail. Her longest sentence was two years in jail for prison.
"The social ramification of my behavior has been devastating to my family," she said in the interview. "If I would have known full circle what I know now, I would have stayed at my nasty minimum-wage job. I can't make yesterday better. I can't change it."
Ms. Kennedy believed prostitution was a victimless crime. "If you eliminate prostitution, you put a lot of people in harm's way because there is no place for people who are sexually frustrated to turn," she said.
Following the interview nearly two years ago, Ms. Kennedy said she'd continue to be a prostitute "until men don't find me attractive anymore."

Two known prostitutes have been killed in Davenport in less than a year, prompting some to believe a serial killer is stalking those who walk the streets. It also gives the police the chance to take a break from their regualr activities and pursue a real criminal, or criminals as the case may be.
Authorities are reluctant to make such a judgment, though, considering the dangerous lives of prostitutes. "Right now, there is no indication the two (slayings) are related," Maj. Mike Brown of the Scott County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday. "It's a high-risk lifestyle," Scott County Attorney Mike Walton said. "If someone has contact with many strangers, there's always potential for danger."
On Saturday, the body of Agnes McFedries Kennedy, a self-described lifelong prostitute, was found in an alley along the 1800 block of West 7th Street.
Davenport police Capt. David Struckman said the 51-year-old's death was being investigated as a homicide, because of its suspicious nature and many unanswered questions. No new information was released Wednesday in the case.
The badly burned body of Angela Marie Hennes, 41, was found in an isolated farm field in the 15000 block of 100th Avenue on Jan. 13. She had been strangled. Her death remains unsolved, with a $5,000 reward being offered for information in the case. Her friends said that sometimes Ms. Hennes worked as a prostitute -- statements confirmed by her three arrests for prostitution.
In both cases, police are working to establish where the women were and whom they were with before they died. That can be difficult, because it wasn't uncommon for both women to go for a period of time without contacting friends or family because of their lifestyles, Mr. Walton said.
In Ms. Hennes' case, police are looking to fill the gap of time from Jan. 3 until she was found 10 days later. "That 10-day span hurt our investigation," Maj. Brown said. "We're still needing leads from the public." Maj. Brown said investigators believe Ms. Hennes' prostituting had "a strong connection" to her death.
Both women served time in jail for prostitution and other offenses.
In Davenport, when police conduct stings, it's not uncommon for women arrested for prostitution also to be carrying crack pipes. It's the combination of drug use and constant contact with strangers that leaves prostitutes vulnerable, Mr. Walton said.
"Getting in and out of cars with men they don't know to do drugs or have sex leaves them in a situation most people are never in," he said.
In an interview with a reporter for The Dispatch and The Rock Island Argus in February 2005, Ms. Kennedy -- who was identified by a pseudonym in the story -- said there aren't any safety nets protecting prostitutes. She said she had been seriously hurt three times in her then 22-year career as a prostitute.
"I guess I look pretty confident because most of the time people won't mess with me," she said.
She said it scared her to know some people think one less hooker is a good thing. "Nobody wants to be a missing (prostitute) that no one misses at all," she said.
Mr. Walton he was unsure if Ms. Hennes' and Ms. Kennedy's deaths were related, but that the cases would be compared for similarities, including the manner of death or any unusual aspects of the crimes.
"Obviously, that's something that would be looked into," he said. "At this point, it's premature to say because these two women were murdered that it was a serial killer."
Prostitutes are considered the most at-risk targets of serial killers.
In May 2006, Larry Bright, 39, pleaded guilty to seven counts of first-degree murder and one count of drug-induced homicide in Peoria County. He confessed to killing eight women who engaged in drug use and prostitution during a 15-month period in 2003 and 2004. He has been sentenced to life without parole.
In recent years, Washington, Florida and British Columbia have also had a series of murders of prostitutes.
Maj. Brown said after consulting with profilers with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, local authorities don't believe Ms. Hennes was killed by a serial killer, although they didn't rule it out.
He said Wednesday he doesn't believe the deaths of Ms. Hennes and Ms. Kennedy are related.

Police are interviewing people of interest in the case, said Capt. David Struckman. A significant portion of the criminal investigation division is working case, he added.
Family members have declined to comment. In her obituary, they said she had an abounding sense of humor that automatically gave her a great, genuine almost perpetual smile. McFedries-Kennedy also had abiding generosity. If she believed she had something you liked, it was yours, mattering not if it was clothing or a trinket, she would make you take it and in the end convince you that you were doing her a favor.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Agnes L. McFedries-Kennedy will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Cafe on Vine (the former John Lewis Coffee Shop), Fr. Conroy's Vineyard or St. Anthony's Care and Share Program.

More aware than most of the "other fellows" perspective it gave her a very kindly demeanor easily seen.
Her greatest attribute, though, was her abiding generosity. If she believed she had something you liked, it was yours, mattering not if it was clothing or a trinket, she would make you take it and in the end convince you that you were doing her a favor. Her penmanship was impeccable and she had a special flare for art and decorating.
She enjoyed baseball, long walks, music, the arts, reading, frequenting the John Lewis Coffee Shop, and helping people in need. Agnes believed in God and shared pamphlets of faith with others. In earlier years, Agnes also had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church Hand Bell Choir and played for several years.
Survivors include her children, UFC fighter Andrew McFedries, Desiree McFedries, Athena Kennedy and John Keenan McFedries; grandchildren, Camarion and Chrystopher; mother, Jean McFedries, father Quad-City auctioneer, Scotty McFedries, sister, Kate (Jeff) Heuer, brother, Norman (Dorothy) McFedries, all of Davenport, and sister, Jennifer Mayweather, Beverly Hills, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
The essence of her life shall live on in our hearts forever.

I have nothing against the gal, I used to always toot at her all happy and keep driving by. Kinda funny for me. A 22-year-old Muscatine woman is charged with robbery first-degree after she allegedly robbed an elderly man Saturday, Davenport police said.
According to the Davenport Police arrest affidavit, at about 10 a.m., Kimberly Nicole Lynch, of 510 Liberty St., Muscatine, got into a vehicle being driven by a 91-year-old man in the 600 block of Marquette Street and asked for a ride.
She is alleged to have asked the man if he wanted to die and intimated she had a gun pointed at him from under her coat, police said.
A struggle ensued, but she overpowered the man and took his wallet from the chest pocket of his coveralls, according to the arrest affidavit.
Lynch then took money from the wallet and fled on foot. She was captured a short time later.
She was being held Saturday night in the Scott County Jail on $25,000 bond.
During a hearing in Scott County District Court, Lynch pleaded guilty in June to a charge of prostitution, an aggravated misdemeanor under Iowa law. She was ordered to pay $495 in court costs, given a suspended jail sentence and sentenced to one year on probation.
She was convicted in February 2006 in Muscatine District Court of a charge of theft fifth-degree.
Robbery first-degree is a Class B felony under Iowa law that carries a mandatory prison sentence of 25 years upon conviction. At least 70 percent, or 17.5 years, must be served before parole can be granted.
There were lots of comments on this article. Many of them suggesting that just maybe the 91 year old guy was looking to pick her up. Although I figure he would be at the age where a guy has lost interest in sex. Have been told this happens somewhere around age 60 from relieable sources.
Other comments suggested that the reason that the two prostitutes in Davenport were killed last year, could be because they acted like this and deserved it. I never met Agnes but did meet Angie who seemed like a nice girl. Even if a girl rips you off she does not deserve to die.

Police execute search warrants in Davenport homicide

Detectives investigating the killing of Agnes McFedries Kennedy have searched at least three residences and two cars, seizing drugs, clothing and a variety of other items that may give them clues about her death, documents filed in Scott County District Court reveal.
No one has been charged with the death of McFedries Kennedy, 51, who was found dead Dec. 22 in an alley in the 1800 block between West 7th and 8th streets in Davenport. Police believe, according to the search warrant documents, that her death happened elsewhere.
“It is apparent her body was moved,” the search warrant for her apartment states.
The searches included an alleged crack house a block away from where McFedries Kennedy was found, a building she was known to frequent, documents state. The house, at 1831 W. 6th St., is being purchased on contract by Jesse James Stewart, 57.
Stewart was arrested after a search warrant was served at the home a week after McFedries Kennedy’s death. The subsequent search revealed 78 grams of crack cocaine there. Stewart is charged with drug possession and keeping a drug house, according to court documents.
He was charged in July with domestic abuse alleging that he strangled and threw a woman to the ground, but those charges were dropped.
A Ford Taurus registered to the Temple of Truth and Wisdom at that address, 1831 W. 6th St., also was searched. Police seized jumper cables, a seat belt cover, roll-on deodorant, an empty cigarette box and several cigarette butts from the car, court records show.
The search of an apartment at 801 W. 15th St., which McFedries Kennedy shared with William Morgan, gleaned a light blue towel from the kitchen, some crack cocaine paraphernalia, a white leather coat that belonged to McFedries Kennedy, a purse and a sock from a kitchen freezer, court documents state.
A search of an apartment at 1002 Ash St. yielded a navy pea coat, a cell phone, black flip-flops and a can containing drug paraphernalia. Police searched the apartment after investigators “learned that the last person who talked to Kennedy on the phone, approximately 45 minutes to an hour before she was killed, said she was leaving at that moment with a man by the name of Kenny (Kenneth Odom),” according to court records.
Three people also stated that they saw a person matching Odom’s description in the area at the time McFedries Kennedy’s body was found, court documents state.
Odom is being held in the Scott County Jail on charges of first-degree theft. Police say he admitted stealing $70,000 over two years from a 79-year-old person he had befriended.
Police also searched a 1996 Cadillac owned by William Wade Taylor and borrowed by Steven Hernandez and Mirranda Kirkpatrick, a friend of McFedries Kennedy. Officers removed nothing from the car.

Had my first little bit of fun for 2008 today. Met Amy down by the liquor store today. Took her to an indoor spot to spread out a bit and get some serious throat drilling accomplished. Just wanted to say hello first of all, I've been lurking for a while now and decided to give a head's up to anyone interested. As*one unsolved Davenport murder turned one year old over the weekend, investigators met to see if there are any links to another recent homicide.
The burned body of Angela Hennes was found January 13th, 2007 by a farmer in his field in rural Scott County.
Last month, another Davenport woman, 51-year old Agnes McFedries Kennedy,*turned up dead in an alley.
On Monday, investigators from Scott County and the city of Davenport met for the first time to talk about the two cases, to compare notes. One obvious common denominator in the two killings, both women worked as prostitutes in Davenport. But authorities say not to read too much into the joint meeting, that it is a standard move.
''I'm not implying there is (a link),'' said Capt. Leroy Kunde of the Scott County Sheriff's Department. ''But obviously we exchange notes and information to see if there is.''
On Sunday, the Hennes murder turned one year old and for now, investigators say the case is cold. ''We just need that one little break, that one individual that may know something'', Capt.*Kunde said Monday.
It's not for lack of trying. Investigators have tracked dozens and dozens of leads, travelled out of state, conducted ''hundreds'' of interview to try and find her killer.
''One of the problems is we believe that she was not murdered there, so the major crime scene is somewhere else, but...there were clues there'', Capt. Kunde said.
A 5-thousand dollar reward remains on the table for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer. The investigation has been scaled back the past year however, from an initial three investigators to one.
Capt. Kunde says the case is still a priority for the Sheriff's Department. ''Everybody has her picture hanging by thier desk, a reminder every morning. This was* a person, who deserved better. We haven't given up''.

A man whose home was frequented by a woman found murdered in a nearby alley is now charged in federal court with crack cocaine delivery, officials say.
Jesse James Stewart of Davenport, admitted to authorities that he provided crack cocaine to several prostitutes who frequented his house “to help them beat their addiction,” court documents state.
“Stewart said these females would give him the crack cocaine to hold for them. In return, Stewart would ration out the crack cocaine and give it to the females in small doses to help them ‘wean’ off the crack cocaine,” documents state.
Cash found in the living room couch and in his wallet, $1,765, Stewart said, “belonged to the girls and he was holding on to it for the girls.”
Agnes McFedries Kennedy, 51, was found dead Dec. 22 in an alley in the 1800 block between West 7th and 8th streets in Davenport. Police believe, according to the search warrant documents, that her death happened elsewhere.
Police have searched several properties in connection with her death, including the Suspect's alleged crack house on 6th St.
Stewart was arrested after a search warrant was served at the home a week after McFedries Kennedy’s death. When police entered the house, Stewart and two women were found inside, documents state.
They found crack in Stewart’s shirt pocket, a freezer and an air vent.
A Ford Taurus registered to the Temple of Truth and Wisdom at that address, 1831 W. 6th St., also was searched. Police seized jumper cables, a seat belt cover, roll-on deodorant, an empty cigarette box and several cigarette butts from the car, court records show.
Stewart told investigators he sold crack cocaine to a person in Bettendorf. His supplier is a relative in Chicago and a person in Davenport, he said, but he would not reveal their names.

It's spam, she was advertising in cedar rapids, but using a different yahoo userID. For the most part, if they want you to IM them, it's a scam to have you join a webcam site or like. I IMd her, she replied with another pic, then said the only way she'd hook up is if I joined an age verification site (for her security). Site was nothing more than webcam. They must get kickbacks to get people to sign up, because she'll ask you for your username or order number. Lots of this going on in CL lately.
