There are now two AMPs in the greater Burlington area, one's on Williston Road, the other's out in Essex near the Five Corners. Anyone been to either?

Boy are you guys hurting over there in Burlington! So I figure I would contribute my experiences while I was at UVM. First of all, I am really surprised by the lack of working women over in Burlington as I recall most of the street walkers in New York City were brought over from Burlington Vermont. Strange! Anyhoo while I was at UVM, everytime I wanted a quick cheap punt, I would jump on I89 and head towards the canadian border. Right after you pass customs, you enter a town called Ibreville. The entire drive should be about 30 minutes. Anyways I am not sure of the name of the establishment, but it is masked as a strip club. There is no name on the outside of the establishment, only a silhouette a womans body. You can not miss it. Park around the back and walk up the stairs. Ring the door bell and the madame buzzes you in. You sit down and order a drink, and all these women walk around asking you if you want a private dance.

Once you have made your selection, the WG escorts you in to a small private booth. Thats where all the fun begins. For $45 Canadian Dollars which almost equals to $30 USD, she will provide CBJ and FS in any position you like. Well worth it, and to be quite honest with you well worth the drive.

Remember when you go through customs, tell them that you are going to the Casino de Montreal! =P

Happy Punting Boys!!

Everything GV says is true. I recently wrote about this place on the Montreal board. Haven't been there in a couple of years, but it is worth a stop. Most of the girls there are pretty horrible, but found a hot "college girl" from Montreal there one time.

Jeez, guys!

There's gotta be some street action to be had, I would think? I know there's now 3 AMPs and at last scan of the phone book, there were a few escort services. I sampled one a few years back, but it didn't thrill me. I'd just as soon not have to truck up across the border if I didn't have to.

Keep your eyes open, it'll be spring soon.

OK, maybe I can get this VT board started a bit. I was in Burlington a little over a month ago and went to Ginza. It's a well-lit place on Williston that's near all sorts of other businesses, though it's a separate building. Unfortunately, parking is in the front, and I only ever saw one car in the lot besides my own, so you feel a bit naked going in at 10PM on a weekday.

The mamasan said it's usually .80 upfront for the house, but she'd give me a .70 special (both times I went). The place is quite clean and well-maintained, and the sauna before the shower private and new. I got a pretty old masseuse (maybe late 40's?) who was Korean. The table shower was good and fairly extensive.

The rooms themselves are quite nice, and mellow music plays quietly in the background. When we got to the end of the massage the first time, she said "OK, finished!" much to my dismay. I looked melancholic and said "finished???" She held her finger to her lips to get me to shut up and proceeded to give a very nice HR with oil. I didn't have to play the game the second time (I got her then, too-I doubt they have too many people working there), and I got a little farther in my own efforts. After all was done and cleaned up, she literally dressed me down to putting on my socks. All told, it was an excellent massage and very good ending. I seriously doubt you can get FS there, however.

I did see another place on Williston a few miles before Ginza coming from Burlington. It looked small, dark, and scary, however, so I skipped it. Most likely FS by the looks of it.
Finally, I did make an excursion to the place in Iberville, Canada, at least an hour from Burlington. It was filled with attractive ladies of all varieties, and I chose FS with one in a booth. She snookered me into a dance before asking if I wanted FS, which cost an additional $140 Canadian. I'm sure I could have bargained, but did not, and was out $160 Canadian in the end for one dance and three songs of FS. She was truly lovely 9/9 and very nice, but in the end, I think the AMP is the best value.

I'll be back in Burlington in the Fall, and any recommendations on AMPs would be most welcome.

Thanks!

Jim

Essex Junction, Vt -- July 1, 2004

Thursday afternoon teams of local and federal law enforcement officers conducted coordinated raids at three alleged houses of prostitution in Chittenden County.

Shortly after noon, the law enforcement teams simultaneously conducted searches at the Tokyo Health Spa on Park Street in Essex Junction and the White Orchid Asian Spa on Williston Road in South Burlington. Four hours later the teams searched the Ginza Spa on Rte. 2 in Williston near Tafts Corners.

Eight Asian women employees were taken into custody on federal immigration charges. They are being held pending possible deportaion as illegal immigrants, acording to authorities. Police say they are still looking for an unidentified man described as the owner of the three massage parlors.

The raids come a year after police started receiving complaints from neigbors and residents that the massage parlors were merely poorly disguised brothels.

The women may also face state charges of prostitution, according to police, pending review by the Chittenden County Prosecutor.

That's horrible news. Ginza was a pretty upright place-clean and a real massage to boot. It didn't really have any neighbors, either, and I can't see how it would impact the area negatively.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Seems like these crackdowns are happening all over. The following is an interesting article from the Phillyburbs.com Feb 2004.

Local communities look for new ways to battle sex trade

The Intelligencer

To paraphrase humorist Woody Allen, sex without love is an empty gesture, but as empty gestures go, it's one of the best.
Judging from recent headlines, that empty gesture in one of its forms is more prevalent around these parts than one might have guessed, and it isn't very humorous.

A story in Sunday's edition related the efforts of some Montgomery County communities to crack down on former and current massage parlors that police say fronted for houses of prostitution. Police raids have resulted in a number of arrests and turned up large amounts of cash.

Interestingly, a recent story in The New York Times Magazine presented a glimpse into the brutal world of the international trafficking of sex slaves. It told how thousands of young women and girls, some of them mere children, are smuggled into the United States illegally to labor as prostitutes in cities from coast to coast. They come from Russia, Eastern Europe, Asia and Mexico, lured by promises of jobs as nannies or models. Instead they find themselves trapped in a nightmarish existence from which there's no escape.
The women who were most recently arrested on prostitution-related charges at massage parlors in Hatfield and Hatboro were mainly Koreans who were living here legally. Ranging in age from 31 to 50, they were far from being children.

While it wasn't determined that they were slaves, a police detective said: "These girls come over from overseas, and maybe they are promised jobs. What they get is like involuntary servitude where they have nothing to do but work at these places."

Local law enforcement confirmed that women who work at massage parlors tend to move around a lot. Some who have been arrested locally have come from as far away as Colorado.

Over the years there have been investigations into Korean-run prostitution rings and massage parlors in Colorado, Ohio, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland and California.

A 1989 report by the State of New Jersey Commission of Investigation indicated that most information on Korean organized crime at that time involved prostitution. "... there is evidence of an organized Korean female prostitution network operating out of massage parlors and bars in the Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, Camden and New York areas," the 1989 report said.

A reason that the business seems to be dominated by Koreans might be due, at least in part, to the large presence of U.S. servicemen in South Korea.

There has been evidence in New Jersey and elsewhere that Korean prostitutes have obtained entry visas to the United States by marrying American GIs. The marriages are a sham, with the servicemen being paid as much as $10,000 to be temporary husbands. Once here, the women obtain a divorce and are placed in jobs at various Korean massage parlors and bars throughout the country.

Some of the massage parlors around here have been open under various names for 10 or more years. Obviously they're here because they're profitable. It's a matter of supply and demand, and apparently there exists a sufficient demand here for what often is called the world's oldest profession. There's something troubling about that.
You might consider prostitution a victimless crime, but you don't have to be prudish to recognize that its presence in a community isn't something likely to be touted by the local chamber of commerce.
It's more than a little sleazy, and you can't blame these suburban towns for wanting to get rid of it. Often, though, it's a task that is easier said than done.

Hi,

This is just a suggestion, so please don't take it the wrong way.

I appreciate the details in your report, but I know from experience that a lot of people find it easier to read a report if the paragraphs are separated by a single blank line.

I know how this happens: You're banging away at the keyboard, putting your thoughts into the report as fast as you can write them. However, if you could hit the return key TWICE at the end of each paragraph, your report would be much easier to read, which would certainly be appreciated by your fellow Forum Members.

Thanks,

Jackson

The well-traveled Fluffy One has come to the VT board with the usual display of wisdom. Hey Fluffy!

I do wonder often what the deal is with the girls at these places. I can see it falling either way, where they're just trying to make a buck with the freedom to choose to make that buck in an AMP or where they're stuck in this situation by debt and basically become indentured. If I had to guess, I would bet that if the latter is true, it's a lot more true in the FS places than the simple HR places. Anyone can chime in here and agree or disagree with me.

Saying that, I've only been to Gza, so I wonder if the other two are FS (Gza is/was just HR). And maybe they've changed policies since the bust. I just hope that nothing written here had anything to do with it.

Be safe,

Jim

Wow, you guys got managed to get some national attention up there. This is from today's Associated Press articles:

Experts: Vt. Sex Slavery Fits U.S. Pattern

By WILSON RING, Associated Press Writer

ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. - The regulars at the Park Place Tavern weren't surprised when police raided what is being described as an Asian brothel in a small house across their shared driveway. But they were surprised when news reports linked the now-closed Tokyo Spa and two other health clubs in the area to what police say is an international prostitution ring that smuggled Asian women into the United States and made them sex slaves.

"We joked about it here all the time," said Sandy Maloney, who lives in an apartment complex out back.

Maloney said she watched as older men driving expensive out-of-state sport utility vehicles visited the Tokyo Spa at all hours.

Experts in sexual slavery say the Vermont case fits the pattern of a problem that is reaching into the smallest corners of the country.

"Modern-day slavery is the fastest growing criminal industry in the world," said Derek Ellerman, co-executive director of the Washington-based Polaris Project, a grass-roots anti-trafficking organization.

"They have done a very good job of spreading into suburban and even rural areas," Ellerman said. "It's a market-driven criminal industry. Wherever there is demand for commercial sex the traffickers will spread to those areas."

There's an eviction notice on the door of the light gray two-story clapboard house that operated as the Tokyo Spa for about a year. The city of Burlington is moving to evict the tenants from another of the spas. At the third, the building owner insists all the activity inside was legal.

Police, though, contend the clubs were offering sexual services along with massages. During the raids earlier this month, authorities arrested eight women — five Korean and three Chinese — on federal immigration charges. All except two have been released, said Essex police Lt. Gary L. Taylor. No state criminal charges have been filed.

Taylor refused to discuss the ongoing investigation but knew of no other organized prostitution in Vermont's history.

"It's the first time I am aware of," Taylor said.

In court documents, police say the women who worked at the spas never left. Even groceries were brought to the house.

One Korean woman told investigators she had been smuggled into the United States and had only recently arrived at the Tokyo Spa.

Court documents filed by police to get search warrants for the three businesses outline what authorities say could be a link to international organized crime and sexual slavery. Similar operations, according to the papers, are being investigated by federal authorities in New York City, New Jersey and Maine.

"The way these massage parlors or spas or health clubs work, they are really fronts for prostitution," said Linda M. Hughes of the University of Rhode Island.

Hughes, who has studied international sex trafficking for 15 years, said many of the women have been smuggled into the United States and are being held "by some sort of forced fraud or coercion."

Typically, sex rings offer to bring women into the United States for a fee. Once in the United States, the women are forced to repay the cost of their passage by working as prostitutes.

The women will give most of the money they make to the brothel owner. They are charged for rent and expenses. They can be fined for rule infractions, Hughes said.

"There are all sorts of things they do to prevent these women from getting out," Hughes said. "That may mean these women have been enslaved for 20 years."

The women are then rotated between the brothels as part of a network that has, in some cases, operated nationwide.

Asian women aren't the only ones enslaved. The Vermont case appears to be a Korean network, Ellerman said. And traffickers bring women to the United States from around the world.

Law enforcement has a new tool for fighting the international trafficking. The federal Victims of Trafficking and Violence Prevention Act of 2000 defines women who were forced into prostitution as victims rather than criminals, Hughes said. The statute also offers a range of social benefits and services, including a visa to stay in the United States, for victims who agree to cooperate with the authorities.

Ellerman said the effort to get the public to recognize sexual slavery as a problem is still in its infancy.

"It's much like domestic violence was 30 years ago. It took years to mainstream," Ellerman said. "We're at that beginning stage right now.

New Developments

Saw on last nights TeeVee news that a Korean Accupressure place in Lisbon Falls, Maine was busted in connection with a "sex slave ring recently broken up in the Burlington VT area". The owner was busted on federal prostitution charges and five employees were not arrested but "detained on immigration charges". they also said they had ongoing investigations in NY and NJ. Somebody ought to pass the "heads-up" to the guys in those areas.

Here the Lisbon Falls news article from a Portland paper.

LISBON FALLS - A Korean woman faces charges of interstate prostitution following a raid on her Lisbon Falls massage parlor, and investigators say she has information about a prostitution and smuggling ring in New Jersey involving illegal immigrants.

Doo Ri Kim, 39, is being held in the Cumberland County Jail without bail after being indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury on charges of interstate travel to facilitate prostitution and to distribute the proceeds of prostitution.

The case comes just weeks after a similar operation was broken up in Essex Junction, Vt. Authorities there said illegal immigrants from Asia were working as prostitutes and were not permitted to leave the business.

Court papers in that case made reference to ongoing and related investigations in Maine, New York and New Jersey, but the case against Kim did not refer to the Vermont operation.

Kim has not been accused of forcing the women in Lisbon Falls to work as prostitutes, although the agents did question one of the women about the freedom of the workers there.

"When asked if she could come and go as she pleased, Witness 1 became very nervous and said that the girls' movements were somewhat restricted," the complaint says, though the woman would not elaborate. The woman did say they were prohibited from using the telephone.

But the manager of a Subway restaurant next to the now-shuttered business said Wednesday that the women who worked at the parlor had at least some freedom. She said they occasionally stopped in for sandwiches or walked down the road to a nearby McDonald's.

Nissa Spaulding said she had suspicions about the Asia Acupressure Therapy Center, and was fairly sure the women lived there. She said the women spoke poor English and tended to order by pointing.

Lisbon police and agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raided the parlor on June 8 and found two naked women with two clients. The two women are being processed for deportation. A third woman, who worked as a cleaning person, was found sleeping in a small massage room used as a bedroom. She also faces deportation.

The women told the agents that they were already in the country illegally when they learned about the Lisbon jobs from friends or in newspaper ads.

One of them, a 34-year old woman, said that she paid a man $1,500 in Korea to be brought to this country illegally in 2000, and that she was smuggled into the country from Canada through the border with Washington.

The women said they paid $40 to $50 a day in rent, and the only money they earned was in tips from the clients they served. They said they worked five to six days a week, and saw four to five clients a day.

Kim, they said, was paid $60 by each client. The U.S. Attorney's Office says that between January and her arrest in June, Kim traveled to New York to deliver the business' proceeds to the owner. The indictment and complaint do not name the business owner, and that person has not been charged, Assistant U.S. Attorney Donald Clark said.

Kim said she had been in the country since 1998 and had overstayed her visa, according to court papers. She was arrested in 2002 on prostitution charges in a New Jersey brothel, a business now under investigation in connection with smuggling and prostitution involving illegal immigrants.

Clark said that once the case against her in Maine is completed, Kim will be able to provide whatever information she has to assist the New Jersey investigation.

Prostitution in Maine typically results in a state charge and does not rise to the level of a federal indictment. Immigration violations are usually handled by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Clark would not explain why the U.S. Attorney's Office sought an indictment against Kim.

"We prosecute those cases where we think there is a compelling federal interest," he said. "Sometimes that's not always obvious on the face of any given case. As I said, the investigation is ongoing."

Lisbon Detective Bill Tapley, who investigated the case with Detective Bryan Doyle, said illegal immigrants involved in prostitution can become indebted to those who brought them to the country or employ them, making it hard for them to leave their situation.

"They're held against their will, not physically, but financially," he said.

Tapley said they were alerted to the business by South Portland authorities. Last September, South Portland police shut down the Asian Therapy Center because it violated local ordinances requiring massage therapists to be licensed.

Federal officials took four women into custody on immigration violations at that time.

During that operation, police found information that suggested the business was linked to one in Lisbon, Tapley said.
The massage parlor shared a tidy wooden building with the Subway store, Huston Bros. Building Contractors and the Fast Flight Indoor Archery Range and Pro Shop.

At the Subway and the archery range, people said there had been odd goings-on at Asia Acupressure.

The posted hours were 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Spaulding said, but the women who worked there tended to be there early in the morning.

"We had suspicions," she said, "but nothing we could prove.
She said the place had two showers and a laundry room. "I'm like, 'Wow! That's a lot of stuff for an acupressure place.' "
She said the place was frequented by "a lot of older gentlemen in business suits."

At the archery center, Rob Russell noted that Asia Acupressure "had unusual hours. A lot of traffic up there . . . I always thought it was kind of weird," he said.

The building that housed Asia Acupressure is on Lisbon Falls' main road, near Lisbon High School.

Harmony is a decent place, or at least not any worse than a million like it on the US Eastern seabord. The manager (who gave me my massage) told me the place was busted because of citizenship issues with the previous owner, and not for the reasons that the other two were busted. While this is pretty suspect, it's definately not a FS place, so local LE might treat it differently.

You can go there and get a very good legit massage. Any other kind of release (that's standard at regular non-FS places) is probably negotiable based on the masseuse. I don't see it being a problem for anyone whose not an idiot. But go to Montreal or southern New England if you want more than that.

And if nobody goes there, the place won't stay open!

I have just started going to the Burlington area on business and decided to visit Harmony. I agree with previous comments on this page. You get a decent massage, including a very nice table shower, and without much difficulty, HR. I would not go out of my way to go there but if you are in the Burlington area it is worth a visit.
