Police Chief Harley Neftzer said area motels and hotels are engaged in a cooperative program with police to watch out for suspicious activities.
Those activities include criminal prostitution and drug deals, Neftzer said.
Motel officials helped police pick up the woman and her paying john on prostitution-related charges July 21.
“Someone noticed there were a lot of people going in and out of that room every hour,” said Motel 6 general manager Jason Deffendall.
“That’s a huge red flag.”
Both later were convicted of their crime in Massillon Municipal Court.
The Repository generally does not name misdemeanor suspects.
Neftzer said this program with hotels and motels has been around for six years and has worked out well.
“Our goal is to development relationships with our business community ... and have them share in keeping our community safe by reporting activities they believe are suspicious,” he said Friday.
Neftzer described this program as a “preventable” way to identify and stop criminal activities in progress.
For example, he said hotel and motel employees have helped stop methamphetamine (meth) labs in the past.
They all cooperate to some extent; some are better than others,” Neftzer said.
Deffendall said the Motel 6 chain has a “zero tolerance” policy for criminal activity and welcomes a police presence.
“We just want to be a family-oriented place. I don’t want people to be afraid to bring their children here,” he said

Well if I was a motel manager, worker or owner I'd call the cops too. I wouldn't want that kind of garbage going on in my place of business either - especially not in an establishment in North Canton where families stay with kids.
Now the question here is, how on earth did either the man or the woman get convicted of anything here? Unless the cops witnessed some sort of transaction taking place they have no evidence beyond the circumstantial comings and goings of men at a hotel room. The only thing I can think of is that one or both of them admitted to something.
For those of you who do this sort of thing on a regular basis, remember to keep your mouth shut if you're being questioned by law enforcement. You don't have to do anything but provide your identification. You don't need to justify your presence, explain your activities, etc. Just be polite and decline to answer any of their questions. If the "lady" rolls over and starts talking then you wait until you get a lawyer and deny the shit out of everything. There's no crime in meeting a girl in a hotel. There's no crime in meeting a girl in a hotel for anonymous sex. There's only a crime if money is involved. And if that can't be proven by the prosecution they can make life inconvenient for you, but they can't convict you.

If anyone has ever stayed at a Motel 6 you would know the manager is crazy. He says he wants to keep the motel safe for families. I've used them for playtime and most of the guests are mexican construction workers, hookers that are trying to get off of the streets for a few days, dealers, a few traveling sales reps. and people meeting for affairs. You will see the occasional traveler, mostly older couples that probably are on a limited income. If they kicked out all of the dealers and hookers their occupancy rate would drop 30%. A manager would have trouble explaining that to corporate. They know what they have. It was a show.

I texted Shi on Sunday with no reply. I called her tonight no answer. Not sure when the best time is to contact. Nice picks on bp.

Have been seeing Nikki weekly for a couple of weeks. Saw her briefly today. She was in the process of moving out of the basement into some apartments because there were some family issues. She may still possibly work from the basement location, but that had not been discussed yet. She would like to have more business, but doesn't want to mess things up at the new place. She said she may get a room once or twice a week. She has also been working a normal temp job here and there. I will try to get some more info and a number to best reach her once she gets settled in, in the next week or so. The old house number will still work but only reach her family and not her.
She really is a nice, sweet person if you get to know her. Maybe a little screwed up, but who ain't? I have found that, especially with her, if you treat her nicely, she will more than reciprocate.
