Went shopping around dusk yesterday at the local sully mart. There were so many sales associates in the aisles that it was unbelievable. Lot of activity tonight, between the firetrucks, police crusers, and the ladies.

I stopped and got a room at the Inn Towne Motel on Broad and decided to do a recon of the area.
But first a word about the Inn Towne. What a dump. The carpet was almost soggy! I'd like to say that I've spent time in worse dumps but if I have, it's been so long ago that I don't remember. Yes the sleaze factor was definitely in full force. But you know what they say in the real estate biz. 'location, location, location'. So I plopped down my $50 bucks for the room, $3 deposit for the key and $5 deposit for the remote (are kidding me, a deposit for a remote?) and sucked it up for a night.
Beings that it was early afternoon, I didn't expect to see much SW action and I didn't. Only one, pretty hot, little thing gave me 'the' smile on Sullivant. But it was a bit early for me and I wanted to wait and see what my choices would be later.
I went into town, to killed some time. Explored the Arena District a bit, saw a movie, and grabbed a beer afterwards then, about 6:00 I set out trolling.

The rationale is that you are not standing out. Your are not out there alone. Try to position yourself next to a larger vehicle, at least on one side. The police can ABSOLUTELY use a SW as a confidential informant. A number of years ago, I had a buddy who was just a regular citizen (not a cop or anything) who worked for the police buying drugs from street level pushers before giving the sign and the cops busting the guy. They can do ANYTHING within the law to catch someone breaking the rules, including using a known SW to get into cars and make deals. At the very least, getting pulled over in a known SW area with a known SW in your car will get you a loitering charge. Worst case is your SO will find out and leave you, take everything (except your car which the police already took) and you lose your job. I do not believe the cops can use informants to bust someone. My guess is that they would use a wire if were to do so. The cop check would raise obvious issues. The other issue is that SW's are quite flakey so this would raise crediblity questions if they did show up to court.Was hoping to find someone with some insider knowledge of the system and get some facts for a basis rather than opinions or beliefs. I have seen cases where a John got jammed up, and was recruited to procure services at AMPs in order to prove illegal activity. Then swear out an affidavit. So perhaps the affidavit serves as "probably cause" for a search warrant and that allows investigators leeway to search and find the hard evidence they need for a conviction? Then again, perhaps my memory of the 'facts' is indeed flawed? But projecting that to the streets would be an interesting exercise and present a new risk to shoppers.
That said, one makes good points about with regard to the SWs credibility in court and the credibility of the tactics. However, if anecdotal evidence from a buddy who is a PD is any indication. 95% of dudes caught with their pants down (so to speak) wave their 5th Amendment Rights, unknowingly, and confess their crimes. If anyone has ever watched an episode or two of Cops, one knows the guys sit there and run their mouth like they were talking to a buddy at the bar. Who needs "good evidence" when the perp confesses? But that is no accident. LE are specifically trained to get suspects talking and get them to confess. Using human nature and one's upbringing against them.
Second, I'd agree with the poster below. Who is going to spend the money to fight in court? Very few. Most just want it to "go away" as quickly and as quietly as possible and as such might plea out to something else.
My point is that one needs to consider potential LE tactics on the basis of what they might do, not what is 100% legal. So some LE Captain gets a hard-on for the hobby and decides he's gunna go rouge and clean up the streets? Perhaps he is getting pressure from the power structure? So what if he nabs 100 mongers using less than 100% iron clad tactics? 95% of the dudes confess in the squad car, another 3% plea out, but are guilty of "something" and 2 walk because of "bad evidence." Great success rate. Problem solved!
We can speculate all day. And that of course is all I have done here. Perhaps amongst the posters is one with particular knowledge?

The police can ABSOLUTELY use a SW as a confidential informant. A number of years ago, I had a buddy who was just a regular citizen (not a cop or anything) who worked for the police buying drugs from street level pushers before giving the sign and the cops busting the guy. They can do ANYTHING within the law to catch someone breaking the rules, including using a known SW to get into cars and make deals. At the very least, getting pulled over in a known SW area with a known SW in your car will get you a loitering charge. Worst case is your SO will find out and leave you, take everything (except your car which the police already took) and you lose your job. A few years back I got a call from Nikki (who has since disappeared from the Streets) to come and pick her up near the Dairy Queen on Sullivant. I drive up there, and she's standing there with a friend. Now, I'd gotten together with Nikki plenty of times, so I didn't mind giving the friend a quick ride, and dropping her off at one of the side streets. We pull up to the street, and both Nikki and her friend jump out, to do a quick buy at a house nearby. I explain that I'm going to go and circle the block, and I'll be back in 5-10 minutes, as I don't like waiting outside a potential crime scene. I pull back up, and both get back in. We drive away from the house, and light immediately come on behind me. I'm doing the "oh fuck" thing in my head, and the girls are as well. Nikki swallows the drugs she bought (As did the other girl) , as I'm pulling over. Cops come up, and ask us what we're doing. I give the standard bs answer that Nikki was a girl I met in a bar a previous night, and she'd called and asked me to give her and her friend a ride before we went out for the night.
I'm a standard middle class white guy, so I get grilled with the usual "do you know what part of town this is?" and I pull a very jittery "no, I don't" And start glancing around all nervous. The cops, I'm sure, knew what I was doing down in that part of town but they couldn't prove anything. They ask to search my car. As I knew the girls swallowed the drugs, and I wanted to prove I had nothing to hide, I gave them the go ahead. They pretty much went through my car with a fine tooth comb. After they didn't find anything, they let me and Nikki go (Nikki had priors for prostitution, but nothing current). The other girl, though, had an outstanding warrant, so she got to stay with the cops, on a nice trip to jail. Nikki and I got the hell out of dodge, and drove to a much further motel before anything else.
Just goes to show, though, that even if you get pulled over. You aren't necessarily getting arrested. (Though I will agree, the odds aren't on your side). I've also been pulled over by a cop that thought I was driving suspicious in that area, got out of that one without a ticket too. Ultimately though, if you get pulled over, and have to give some BS excuse, then after the cop lets you go, your fun is over for the night (at least in that part of town) , cause if the same cop sees you again on the same night after an excuse like "I was just getting gas and got turned around looking for 315".

I will loop back around using side streets and will not even go back if I notice LEO parked and watching the drag. I do not discuss $$$ and I typically don't do the LE checks until I am at least two or three blocks away. I also do not talk through the windows. Typically the girls will try to get in as soon as they approach your car. I always only unlock the front passenger door and all other doors are locked. I usually try to get the girl's real name as a precaution if we do get pulled over. Better if you know each other's name just so you can have a more believable story if you try to say you have recently become friends or just met that day. Anyway. Now as to CPD using SW as informants. Well maybe not, or not yet. But as Shadow1 and Rick2000 recounts it does and has happened elsewhere. I too had a buddy that got nicked in a similar scenario. A girl he had dated a number of times called him up to pick her up. They met, she got in and no sooner than he started to pull away from the curb, SWAT surrounded him. Yeah, he was charged with solicitation, yeah it was trumped up, but clearly he was set up as she walked away as he was being cuffed. So it happens. Maybe CPD are too nice? Or haven't figured this one out yet? But to put down other's experiences and think it won't happen here..... well..... Seems to negate the Boy Scout Motto.
Just because a charge is trumped up, doesn't mean LE can't or won't do it. This isn't the Land of Oz. The point to remember...... Most guys who get caught and pulled over by LE are not like those who posted here. Most of them "give it up", run their mouth and admit to a crime, even when not directly observed by LE. I still maintain that the odds are in LE's favor of getting a confession and that is why they bother to pull over guys with known SWs in the car. Some high percentage of the time (90%), one or the other party gives it up and provides the convicting evidence!
Sure, the confident ones can jump up and down on the board and say that isn't legal, correct or right (it isn't) or the cops can't arrest you for a crime you didn't commit. But if they do, one has to hire attorney and fight in court. Not only does it cost a bunch of money to get these over-steps by LE corrected, in the mean time one's reputation is stained. Especially with so much data online these days. So it is better to do as Buckeyefanatic and Milwaukee1 demonstrated - you got to have your wits about you and you got to know how to talk to LE.
So it is not a fear of driving the street. No not at all. But if one is not prepared for an encounter with LE on each outing.

The search LE is doing has nothing to do with whatever excuse they used to pull you over and everything to do with trying to find a felony to pin on you. Another key item to remember is that there is a legal concept know as "constructive possession." Loosely stated...... IF an occupant of an auto drops some illegal substance that is found in a search of your car...... unless the owner (person who dropped the stuff) cops to possession..... EVERYONE in the car can be arrested for possession of the substance.
So take a look at the video. It is a great resource for hobbyists. And gives tools so there is no need to be afraid to drive the streets nor be a nice guy and consent to a search.

I have looked up the tickets of about 70 or so SW's. I do have names and birthdates for those I have looked up. I chose not to look up those that were in my opinion not "attractive" judging by height and weight. That being said. I have run across two SW's thus far that were charged with "Contagion" which in my mind must be fairly serious. This is two out of about 70 but still. I know we cannot divulge personal info but PM me and I will tell you.

I've been out west just about the whole day today and it seems like bussisness as usuall. High counts of SW along the 500. Had a visit with one of columbus's local stars last night. I hit Cleveland Avenue very early this morning before the sun came up. There were a few BSW out and at least one or two WSW on Cleveland. I did the usual tour. I did spot a TGTBT BSW with a nice fat ass and who actually looked damn good. I tried to get her attention but I am not sure if I got her attention or if she was scared off by LEO that came up right behind me. I had my lights off and they did not stop and nor did they seem to pay me any attention as they dipped down a side street right behind me. I am very thankful now that the BSW did not come over. We would have been stone cold in the crosshairs for sure. At any rate, I sat there for a minute longer and then dipped around the block and hit it back up North on another street. I saw the same TGTBT BSW by the gas station at Weber and Cleveland about 15-20 minutes later. I almost picked up a BSW but couldn't get a good look to make sure it wasnt a hebeshebe. That BSW had on a leopard print outfit. I ended up trying to go back and see if the WSW I saw was still out but she was nowhere to be seen. So, the sun was starting to rise and I decided to call it a morning and head back to get ready for work. I may be out again soon to see if I can find the BSW with the nice ass. I definitely wanted to gt at that ass.

I don't know where they came from, three LEO cars surrounded me. The first question I was asked "Did you know this is a one way street?" I said I did not know (honest answer). Then they asked me "Where are you from?" By this time they figured I am not originally from here. I felt offended and shot back (instinctively)"What do you mean?" He then said,"where do you live?" I told him and he asked me "what are you doing here?" I was not prepared for this. Although I thought of saying "I am supposed to meet my friends here" but in stead I said I am looking for a friend. He looked at me and said "Quit looking for your girl friend and go home." I could not believe they let me go. I attributed my freedom to a divine intervention.LOL. Have not been shopping for a little while but the need to restock was great so headed out to the sully world mart after much controversy over management taking away many of the sku's. However, it seems that the media circus and management have done their job and the shelving appears to have some restocking occurring.
