After RTFF and seeing a favorable review on Ellese, I decided to sample the menu. The standard two call system got me to her location, and she sent me to a different room number to see if i was LE. Of course, until you establish a solid track record of good intel and recons, you're not likely to get many specific bits of info. Bear in mind, INFORMATION is the currency on these boards, and that's only gained via the expenditure of TIME and MONEY. With a little stick-to-it-iveness, you'll do just fine.
Unfortunately, almost all of us on this forum have experienced the good, bad, and downright fugly in our times out & about. It's just the nature of the hobby and part of the learning experience. So, if/when you do have a bad/ugly experience, post it so other mongers will gain from your findings. That's one of the purposes of this forum and one thing that'll help put you in good stead on these boards.
So, without any further ado, I'll say that you're on the right track for starting out: Try a few listings in the CityPaper and on Eros, maybe even Craigslist. However, if the photo (or description) appears too good to be true, it probably is. Photos of uber-hotties, extra low prices, explicit descriptions of services, etc., are all warning signs. I got a PM asking for detailed information on one of our favorite Chinese restaurants. I didn't recognize the name so I checked his posting history. One post in February of 2006 and five in 2005, only two of which contained any useful information.
As far as I'm concerned he's an unproven newbie, and I'm highly unlikely to share any specifics.
In case some of you newbies have missed the discussions in the past, the only coin we deal with on this board is information. And that information has significant value to us. We have spent considerable time, and money, to acquire that information. We share it to help one another. We also safeguard it to ensure that it isn't used against providers by LEO, or politicians, or the media, who seem to pop up here from time to time and immediately start asking for specifics, or post one or two uninformative postings, and then ask for specifics with the intent of using the information to harm us, the providers, and our ability to conduct our hobby quietly.
There is a lot of information on this board. Many newbies have managed to find their way around this hobby over the years by reading the board and using their brains. This isn't rocket science. If you RTFF, (If you don't understand what it means go to the top of the page and click on Abbreviations,) and pay attention, you can figure most of it out without too much trouble. Then go and get some experience and report on it. If your reports ring true, and believe me, there's enough of us who have been there, done that, then you'll win some trust and respect, and you'll find that we'll happily share information with you. If you try to blow a lot of smoke we'll know that too. And if your reports don't come anywhere close to our collective experience, we'll all know that the bacon is in the frying pan. And then you'll NEVER get squat.
So it's really up to you. Do your homework. RTFF, Report on your experience, and you'll become a member of the club. Come in here with no record and say "Tell me everything," and we'll be quick to tell you where to go. Your choice.

Had an occasion to try a visit with Heidi (from CL) recently. For any of you who think she looks familiar, she used to live in Arlington but has moved to a location near Rt. 236. She started pouring the coffee, and it made a mess all over the place. All over her front and all over her backside. We tried cleaning up the mess, but we wound up with nothing but the hot dark coffee all over ourselves. She was soaked, and I was firmly determined to get my cup of coffee. I tried sopping up the mess with a teabag I brought, which seemed to delight her briefly as she made some slurping noises, but then I had to get the mop running back and forth on her chest where most of the coffee had found its way. She begged me not spill the cream. Trust me, I had the non-dairy creamer well under control, and I sopped up all the spillage.

No you aren't out of line. You wanted to schedule an appointment but she didn't care. Most providers, especially on CL, don't care. They just tell everyone who calls to go ahead and come to their location. They take whoever gets there first and leave the others hanging. It happens to all of us every now and then. It is generally accepted that it occasionally happens. It still needs to be posted because we need to know. Some girls make it more of a habit than others and knowing that could help us avoid wasting time.
Here is a story of the one time a provider double booked and it worked out good for me...
I called a provider and she tells me to come to her hotel. I get there and she gives me the room. I walk in and see another dude coming in at the same time. He is a few feet in front of me and walks straight to her room. After he goes in she calls me asking where I am and if I can wait 1/2 hour. I told her maybe. Of course I was going to leave anyway. I look up and call other providers while I sit in the parking lot. I am having trouble finding a provider available soon. After about 20 mins she calls back asking if I am still around and if I can come in. I told her what she did was messed up and I was in the process of calling other providers. Earlier we had agreed upon 1.2 for a half. She offered me a full hour unlimited pops for the previously agreed half hour price. I decided to go ahead since the value was good. She turned out to be a great provider and got me to pop 3 times.
I checked her out keeping in mind that the pictures that she posted on CL were probably bogus. To my surprise when she opened the door the pictures were accurate. We did the standard checks and moved on to business which she is very good at. She required that I wash my hands before we got down to business, not because I am dirty, just for sanitary reasons.
