My Christmas horror story occurred when I was in Chicago for a training conference circa 2002. I left a gathering of co-workers out in Des Plaines and drove to a few know strolls. Sunday morning I took a drive around some of my old haunts in town and it sure brought back some memories. The Alturistic on 14th and Center was my favorite. Norm Johnson ran it along with Gerald's on 32nd and Lisbon. Wes's on 3rd and Lloyd and Boobie's on 5th and Garfield were regular stops of mine. (And my ex had triple D's! - ah the memories. . . .) Struck up a conversation and got my phone needs taken care of and eventually was able to ask her if she could take care of the rest of my needs. No driver would do that because they don't know the reason for why they are picking someone up. Their goal with Uber is to get the person in as fast as possible and out of the car as fast as possible since Uber keeps a little over 25% of the fair and the price is dirt cheap to begin with.
You have the ability to text the driver before they arrive to pick up your lady that you are requesting the Uber for someone else. They won't be confused when a gal gets in and not you. And think less of it other than 'man this guy knows how to use Uber. ' Drivers have told me they appreciate communication from passengers, especially if they may be a few minutes getting out of the house and less likely to drive off and cancel.
1 of man big differences with Uber and Lyft is: on Lyft you can add a profile picture or link it to Facebook so the driver would know more about you but that's it.
