Taxi, actually having Kari live with you is not such a bad idea and I would encourage you to take her in for all the good reasons you mention. Since her recent troubles I was in brief contact with her Dad in Maine and although he is aware of his daughter's situation I don't think he's interested in taking care of her unless she decided to initiate it, and you know that isn't likely to happen.
