Never went cruising for SW in Des Moines (or Cedar Rapids), since it is a little too close to home for me, although once had a very expensive poor experience at the old Water House. Whih I understand has been closed.

Met Wada lurking near one of the strip clubs in town (think it was Big Earls) had gone to see some frinds who were on a strip club crawl in tonw. I wound up not going witht since I thought I had a date for the night- she stood me up- so went into town looking for them. A friend from college (now living on west coast) called me last week and said he had a seminar in Des Moines this week said he was flying in early (sat morn) and said we could hang out and catch up. I've had some pretty terrific luck finding amatuers in two spots; first (great luck almost any time) is cruising 69 north of 235. (the side streets to the west are where they do lots of meth busts, you wont find any SW there) just keep your eyes open; you'll see girls that are either are killing time trying to get out of their home, or are looking for action and to avoid attention they feel the need to 'look busy', so stop in the dollar store there and the larger quicktrips/mini gas marts. if you see a girl hanging around the parking lot, a payphone, or look to be otherwise killing time, just offer em a ride and once in the car (LE wont get in) ask em if they would like to do some photo modeling for you and you'll pay. on a good day I ask less than five girls on a bad day, ten girls before I find someone in these two spots who accepts. second area (really only fruitful for hunting between 11am-6pm) is a little west of there (just north of university ave) around where the WIC/food stamp buildings are (drawing a blank on the street name).

DSM is historically really nutty about stringent enforcement of vice crime, so (visitors) expect to always see a lot of LE in the area. Drive a mile or so after they get in before talking business, and keep an eye on your rear view mirror. Most of ya are paranoid about getting pulled over, but theres no law against offering someone a ride, asking for directions ("hey there, im terribly lost, would you help me find what im looking for?" *wink*), or asking them if they want to party. so if you do get pulled over, be cool. I've been pulled over a few times, they do the "stand outside and let me ask you dumb questions while I search the car routine." I now keep a bible in my glove compartment and a minister's id card in my wallet, next time I get pulled over i'm going to have some fun and tell them I'm there to 'doing gods work by offering young ladies a ride in order to bring the sinful heathens to christ" or some such thing. I'll read them obscure bible passages while they search the car. Come to think of it I'll try to leave the digital videocam on during the episode...

While I fully expect to be flamed for this post here goes. Why do you, Mister Quick, continue to post photos and reports in places you really don't spend any time. I know your from the Rockford or surrounding area, but I see your posts in both Des Moines and the Quads. To me, IMHO, if it was of gals you had experience with that is one thing, but you continue to post readily available CL listings. I think anyone on this site is quite capable of finding the same. I just wonder if it is only an attempt to build your posting numbers (only God knows why).

Since I see no advantage in having a higher post count I do not see that as a reason to post more. I am from a place about equal distance from Rockford and the Quads. I have a fair number of first hand reports in both those areas. Work sends me near both of these places and others where there is nothing (Galesburg, Pontiac, Sterling). I have noticed that the pics on CL tend to disappear after a week or so at least in the Chicago section. For future reference I had been uploading the pictures here to save space on hard drive. Been writing down the phone numbers of those I find interesting. It appears as if soemone likes what I am doing judging from the number of views the photos have been getting. I had been posting some news reports of a trial in Rockford that were appearing ereryday and was thinking of stoping but did not until I got severla PMs thanking me for doing so. Thus proving not everyone has the ability to find stuff on the net.

you are right Jim, there are very few reports on this board. I have posted my findings here in the past but it seems like after a while there is nothing new to post. I still travel the same areas and see pretty much the same ladies working. When I do find something new I always post it.

there was a post a couple of weeks ago about action on highway 69 (SE 14th St) near the interstate. I have spent some time in that area a few times since that post and have seen absolutely nothing.

As you said, the pictures and info from CL is available elsewhere but some of us don't spend time on multiple sites. I think the information being posted from other sources is great. I don't mean to run anyone down as we all have our own opinions. That is the purpose for a forum such as this - to share information and voice your opinion. I guess this string proves that the spirit of the board is working. I just wish that we could share information on the reason that we are all here instead of running down our fellow board readers.

I will be the first to admit out of all the cities I have lived in of this size or larger it is dead. That is part of the reason why we need as much info as we can get.

The options in the city are very limited and SW are almost impossible to find. I am just a part-timer but anytime I find something new I pass it on. Once I post on a girl and then revisit I seldom repost unless quality has went down.

I have had some occasional luck on Private Lines, but after getting nuked by a few people online here I stopped reporting those contacts. One word of advice if you try Private Lines, there are a lot of dash and runs so be aware.

My whole point was that anyone that is on this board is (or should be) quite capable in researching Craigslist site themselves. I don't think it should take someone from another city who doesn't frequent Des Moines to point out what is available. There isn't much action in Des Moines (having lived myself for a number of years), but it can be found.

Myself, half (or even more) the fun and challenge of mongering is the hunt. There is action in many places you don't even think to look. I really never spent time in the Ames area so I don't have any knowledge about it. Good luck and be safe.

I found myself in Des Moines Tuesday morning and decided to check out the 6th Ave. stroll. It was around 7:00 and I didn't figure I would find much action but I had some time to kill. I made the loop a couple of times and did not see anyone out. About 7:30 as I was about to head on my way, I saw Shelly walking down the middle of 8th Ave around Clark St.

I made a couple of circles around the block and at one point she was leaned in a car window talking to someone. I wasn't sure if she was working, a decoy or what so I proceeded with caution. I guess you could say I had a load that I wanted to drop off somewhere before I left town and this seemed like about the only available dumping station.

I ended up offering Shelly a ride and we had a nice conversation. She is 24, brown hair, about 120#, probably about 34C. We ended up finding a nice secluded area that I could unload in. There were birds in the area - swallows. Unfortunately, there was no contact information available for Shelly since I would like to pay her a visit again the next time I have a load to dump in the area. I know this might be hard to beleive. Not everything that is on the internet is true. I replied via email to an interesting sounding ad I saw on craigslist yesterday. Today I got the following email with a link. Just from browsing the ads I have noticed a fair number do not seme legit- many seem to be ads for porn sites or cam girls. I have only posted photoes from ones that I suspect may be real girls one can meet up with. Since I have been looking at both the Des Moines and the Chicago listings, I live sort of midway between the Quad Cities and Rockford and there have been listings for these areas on there. I have seen some ads that have the same picture and say the girl is in both cities. There is a photo on the page the link goes to that I have seen on CL.

2 arrested in DM prostitution sting

Two men were arrested Friday afternoon on charges of prostitution following an ongoing Des Moines Police Department undercover investigation, according to police reports.

A report said Andrew XXXXXXXXXX, 40, of Des Moines, was charged around 4:15 p.m. after arranging to have sex for $30 with a female prostitute decoy. The woman posing as a prostitute was actually an undercover Des Moines police officer.

Another man, David XXXXXXXXXX, 63, also of Des Moines, was charged after police said he agreed to pay $20 for oral sex

Police would not disclose the location where the men were charged, saying the investigation continues.

WHO Channel 13 news did a big story on the prostitution that is happening on Craig's List in Des Moines. They put up a fake ad on Monday and in two days had about 70 guys offer to meet the "girl" in the ad and pay her $100 donation.

They said that they have notified the Des Moines Police and that they would be monitoring the Craig's List website. They stated that they may run a sting on Craig's List.

Mars Davis says he had already driven several miles from the Des Moines home of Patrick McRae on a dark October 1999 night before he noticed that Andrea Morris, his friend with benefits, was covered in blood.

I looked at her in the lights of passing emergency vehicles, and she had blood all over, Davis told a Polk County jury on Thursday. She finally said shed done it because they told her to . . . these voices that she heard in her head.

Testimony began Thursday in Morris first-degree murder trial for the alleged murder of McRae, a 43-year-old Iowa Public Television employee who was found stabbed to death on his own front porch following a private dance with Morris in the early morning hours of Oct. 16, 1999.

Morris, an exotic dancer who met McRae during a brief stint at the Outer Limits bar north of Des Moines, is accused of slicing McRaes carotid artery with a 4- or 5-inch blade, then stabbing him another five times in the back of the neck and top of the shoulders.

Polk County authorities have said police immediately discovered a womans DNA in McRaes Lincoln Avenue home. But investigators had no one to compare it to until Davis came forward in 2004 following his Lincoln, Neb., arrest on a methamphetamine charge.

Davis, whose criminal history has included robbery and drug dealing, acknowledged Thursday that he functioned as Morris pimp.

Davis, who said his head has been shaved since Jerry Garcia died in 1994, insisted that he had feelings for Morris and said he betrayed his former roommate and lover only because he was having nightmares about the crime.

Public Defender Robert Powers focused on another theory that Davis had pointed the finger at the only witness to a murder that Davis had committed.

Powers, referring to Davis previously stated attitudes against prostitution, insisted that Davis had reacted poorly when he went to pick Morris up at the Outer Limits and was told that she had scheduled a private dance.

Powers dismissed Davis claim that he dropped Morris off, then killed roughly 45 minutes before he returned to McRaes home.

You got jealous, Powers said. You burst in. You have your knife, and you stab the man to death, isnt that right?

I never entered his home, Davis insisted.

Powers suggested that Morris had been punched in the nose during a struggle in the home and asked whether it was Davis or McRae who had done the punching.

It wasnt me who hit her, and I dont know who did, Davis said. I wasnt in the house, and I didnt see what happened there.

Davis denied that he was looking for any benefit when he told authorities about Morris in 2004. But he acknowledged writing a letter to Des Moines police after Morris arrest inquiring about a reward.

Thirty pieces of silver has never been what this is about, read part of Davis letter, but Im in need of some cheddar to get on with my life.

Davis said he and Morris fled south to Arkansas and then to New Orleans following McRaes murder, but not before they briefly had to retrace their steps to Des Moines. Morris made a second entry to McRaes house, Davis said, out of fear that she had left her wallet behind.

The two ultimately spent a few months together before Davis returned to Lincoln.

I made a couple of runs through the stroll last week and there were at least a couple of BSW's out. I did offer to give one a ride and we decided to make a stop on a side street. Unfortunately, a car pulled up behind us as things were getting interesting. We pulled away and found another spot. A Des Moines man suffered minor injuries when he jumped from a moving car to escape a Des Moines woman and her boyfriend who now face kidnapping and robbery charges after a bizarre "date" last night.

The 29 year old male victim told police he tumbled from the car Monday night in the 7000 block of Northeast 14th Street, near a bank where the kidnappers took him so he could withdraw money from an automated teller machine.

Officers later charged Terrace Tyrone Ross, 24, and Pamela Chanel Conner, 24, both of 3511 Sixth Ave., with second-degree kidnapping and second-degree robbery. Conner also was charged with child endangerment after police determined she appears to have left her two children ages 2 and 6 at home alone as the events unfolded.

Police said the victim met Conner through a telephone dating service. They arranged to meet at her Sixth Avenue home. Conner told police that the victim had agreed to pay her $100 to have sex with her, a claim he denies. But he told officers that shortly after he arrived for his date with Conner that Ross arrived. Ross acted upset and accused the victim of trying to solicit his woman. Ross informed the victim he had a gun and indicated there was a weapon in the waistband of his pants. Detective Denise Schafnitz said the whole "date" was an act, and that Conner and Ross planned to rob the unlucky guy all along.

Ross apparently demanded more money and said he would let the victim go for $300. The victim told police he agreed to withdraw the money from the John Deere Credit Union. Ross allegedly took the victim's car keys, shoes and cell phone as collateral, then drove him to the credit union. Conner followed in Ross' car.

Ross and the victim passed a Polk County Sheriff's patrol car, and the victim yelled for help, police said. Then he jumped out and ran to the deputy's car, Ross also left the car and pursued the victim. Conner showed a bit more smarts and left the scene. After a quick investigation the deputy arrested Ross. Conner was arrested later at her home after investigators determined she was involed in the incident.

The victim was taken to Mercy Medical Center with multiple scrapes but no serious injuries, sustained from his jumping out of the moving car.

Ross was in the Polk County Jail Tuesday on $45,000 bond. Conner's bond was set at $51,500. Since her arrest her bond has been raised to over $200,000. Both suspects remain in jail.

Des Moines Police Sergeant Todd Dykstra says the woman and her boyfriend took the man's money and tried to get more."I don't think this type of behavior occurs very often, fortunately, but in this particular case his (the victm's) intentions actually got him into a little bit of trouble."

Des Moines police arrested seven people at a motel on the city's north side on the evening of February 20. All are facing charges related to prostitution.

This all started last year when police started receiving calls from people using the online shopping and services website, Craigslist. The callers were complaining there were several personal ads listed under "Erotic services" that looked like prostitution.

Detectives called the numbers and confirmed it was prostitution. They set up a sting Wednesday night at the Motel 6 along Interstate 35/80 and Northeast 14th Street. Detectives set up a false ad under erotic services and it blended in easily with other postings on the site.

Dozens of ads under erotic services were still*on display today, typically women offering companionship in exchange for a donation of money, or 150 roses for a half hour. Police knew those terms are usually thinly veiled prostitution.

When men responded to the fake police ad, they were told to meet at the Motel 6 Wednesday night. Not only did the undercover female officer posing as a prostitute attract a half dozen men, police also arrested a woman who had her own ad on Craigslist and was doing business a few doors down. The men ranged in age from 30 to 54 and came from as far away as Minnesota. Two brothers were among those arrested. The woman was a 35 year old from des Moines.

"She had her own ad on the internet too, she had her ad that she was going to be there at that hotel, so we just followed up and said, 'Okay, we'll be there,'" said Des Moines police sergeant Vince Valdez.

Prostitution stings are nothing new for Des Moines police. In 2002 stings were done on the streets where this type of illegal activity has traditionally taken place. Now criminals have moved to the internet, which is why Des Moines detectives now work with those running these websites.

"When the officers saw these ads on Craigslist, they made contact with them, and that's where the relationship between Craigslist and the police department started," Valdez said. "When Craigslist saw something, they'd flag it and let us know."

This isn't only a criminal story, there's also a human side. Women in prostitution are typically involved with some type of addiction. The director of the New Direction Women's Shelter in Des Moines says she often sees women with children resorting to prostitution in order to buy food or pay rent.

Des Moines police hope a nationwide crackdown on online prostitution advertisements will further reduce the number of local cases, which have dropped by nearly 80 percent over the past six years.

Fifty-six people were arrested last year in Des Moines - 42 women and 14 men - on prostitution charges. The number is down two from 2007. Vice officers, meanwhile, made 256 prostitution arrests in 2002.

Police say the drop in arrests does not necessarily mean there is less pay-for-sex activity in the state's capital. The statistics, rather, reflect a shift in enforcement as officers fill dual roles in vice and narcotics, which were formerly separate efforts.

"We're now all one unit, and we haven't been as focused on prostitution as we once were," Sgt. Cindy Donahue said. "We can't devote as much time to vice."

The manpower change happened as solicitation migrated from the street corner to online classified sites such as Craigslist, which announced in November under pressure from federal prosecutors that it would target ads for escorts and other sex-related services.

"Craigslist is trying to put the hammer down on those kinds of ads," Donahue said.

Prostitution arrests in Des Moines from online cases totaled 10 last year, double the number from 2007.

As part of Craigslist's agreement with attorneys general around the country, anyone who posts an "erotic services" ad will be required to provide a working telephone number and pay a fee with a valid credit card. The Web site will provide that information to law enforcement officers if subpoenaed.

Charges were filed in February against six men and a woman in a Des Moines prostitution sting that used online advertisements.

"We called ads on the Internet and set up appointments" and also placed an ad to draw customers, Donahue said.

The police ad read: "I'm back because I loved Des Moines the last time I was here. I'll be here for one day only - this Wednesday. Call soon. No blocked calls."

Investigators have also planted newspaper ads to draw customers. So be careful in answering any of them.

Jeanne Johnson, president of the River Bend Neighborhood Association north of downtown, said her group remains vigilant when it comes to prostitution despite the promising statistics.

"We still consider it a problem," she said. "We tend to see some of the same folks returning after they've been arrested or in jail, but I think the situation has certainly improved."

River Bend residents have been some of the most vocal about prostitution enforcement, and Johnson said they are "very pleased with the way Chief (Judy) Bradshaw is handling it."

It's the "about anything" that Des Moines police were interested in.

Investigators say an Albany, N.Y., woman who placed an advertisement on Craigslist for "erotic services" offered to have sex with an undercover Des Moines officer for $150. Shameeka age 31, was arrested Monday at the Des Moines Econo Lodge Inn and Suites and charged Shameeka, who allegedly used the pseudonym Alexus, with prostitution.

"It's a part of our vice operations," Sgt. Vince Valdez said. "We look at those ads and call them. We set up appointments. And sometimes people get arrested."

Prostitution arrests in Des Moines from online cases totaled 10 last year, double the number from 2007.

Investigators last week said they hoped a nationwide crackdown on Craigslist and other sites would further reduce the number of overall prostitution cases, which have dropped by nearly 80 percent in the city over the past six years.

Fifty-six people were arrested last year in Des Moines - 42 women and 14 men - on prostitution charges. Vice officers, meanwhile, made 256 prostitution arrests in 2002.

Police say the drop in arrests does not necessarily mean there is less pay-for-sex activity in the state's capital. The statistics, rather, reflect a shift in enforcement as officers fill dual roles in vice and narcotics, which were formerly separate efforts.

"We're now all one unit, and we haven't been as focused on prostitution as we once were," Sgt. Cindy Donahue said. "We can't devote as much time to vice."

The manpower change happened as solicitation migrated from the street corner to online classified sites such as Craigslist, which announced in November under pressure from federal prosecutors that it would target ads for escorts and other sex-related services.

"Craigslist is trying to put the hammer down on those kinds of ads," Donahue said.

Alexus' ad said: "Let me relax you and give you attention you deserve, you may never want to leave." It included a photograph of a woman, allegedly Shameeka, in lacy lingerie and included a telephone number with a 310 area code. Shameeka was released on a $2,000 bond.

A scan of the "erotic" section of Craigslist for Des Moines shows a variety of advertisements, some of which include nudity. Some ads offer phone sex only, while some offer massages with the disclaimer: "This is not a sexual offering."

Charges were filed last February against six men and a woman in a prostitution sting by Des Moines police who used a dummy online ad.

Prostitution sting in West Des Moines nets lawyer, pastor

A lawyer, a pastor and the former head of a state agency are among the 13 men charged in a West Des Moines prostitution sting that drew online customers with a suggestive Web site.

Police arrested the men between Feb. 16 and 24 at an undisclosed apartment complex, Lt. Jeff Miller said.

Police were tipped off about an unusual number of men arriving at and leaving the Westown Parkway Residences apartment complex, 3530 Westown Parkway, near Valley West Mall, Miller said.

"We identified a woman there and realized that she was using a room as a prostitute," he said. "After confronting her, she agreed to work with us to set up the sting."

The men used escortscom to connect with the woman, and they brought between $200 and $300 cash, court records show. Police declined to identify the woman, who was not charged, Miller said, because she helped set up the arrests. The men were arrested at a different complex. They ranged in age from 43 to 70:

- Armando Villareal, 61, of Des Moines, director of the Iowa Division of Latino Affairs from Dec. 2005 to Sept. 2008. Villareal called the charges "totally false" Wednesday.

"It's just going to devastate all of the good work that I ever did in the state, and it's all based on allegations right now," he said.

- David Vestal, 51, of Clive, a lawyer for the Iowa State Association of Counties. Vestal could not be reached for comment, but Bill Peterson, executive director of the association, said Vestal has been on a leave of absence since his arrest.

"Frankly, we're not ready to make any comment on this situation," Peterson said. "It's a personnel and human resources matter."

- Kenneth Krueger, 64, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls. Krueger declined to comment on the arrest.

Ten other men are charged with prostitution, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison:

Miller said his department receives few reports of prostitution each year, but the result of the sting will prompt officers to occasionally peruse similar Web sites.

"This never hits the radar screen in West Des Moines," he said. "We want to make sure that people realize that we're not going to tolerate this type of behavior.

"It's a dangerous lifestyle."

Two twin brothers keeping company with a teenage girlwho identified herself as a prostitute were confronted Sunday at a motel on Des Moines' northwest side by three intruders - one of whom brandished a sawed-off shotgun.

Police arrested four people - including the teen prostitute and one other juvenile - after the 10:30 a.m. incident at the Econo Lodge, 4755 Merle Hay Road. Facing charges of first-degree robbery were 17 year old Dejaaron, 18 year old Corey and 24 year old all of Waterloo; and 16 year old Natasha of Cedar Rapids, who identified herself to the brothers as a prostitute.

Police said Natasha was "hanging out" in the room with the 29-year-old brothers, Shane and Wayne of Minneapolis, when the three males entered the room and tried to rob them. Police believe Natasha lured the brothers to the room as a setup for a robbery.

All the people involved were in Des Moines for the Drake Relays, police said. Dejaaron was carrying the shotgun, according to a police report.

In Iowa, first-degree robbery is a felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.

Shane was able to break away during the incident and call police. The suspects fled in a brown 1990s Ford Explorer.

Iowa State Patrol troopers and Des Moines police later located the vehicle on Second Avenue near Interstate Highway 235 and arrested the four.

Court records show all four of the suspects have criminal records:

Dejaaron was deemed a delinquent in 2005 for failure to disperse and an assault on police officers. That same year, he was convicted of third-degree burglary.

Eric was convicted of theft in 2002 and 2003, drug possession in 2004 and a probation violation, a controlled substance violation and failure to affix a tax stamp in 2005.

Natasha was convicted of assault causing bodily injury in 2005 and criminal mischief in 2006.

Dreier was charged April 19 with fifth-degree theft and possession of a controlled substance in Black Hawk County.

Des Moines police kept themselves busy making three arrests Wednesday afternoon in a prostitution investigation.

Officers arrested 27 year old Dana and 18 year old Brianna both of Wisconsin and 33 year old Jennifer of Arizona.

The police report says, "All three suspects were at Motel 6,4940 N.E. 14th St., in Des Moines. Barger set up the deal between Dana and Brianna with an undercover officer. The deal was $100 each for sex."

Dana and Brianna were arrested on prostitution charges. Jennifer was arrested on a pimping and pandering charge.

All three women were taken to the Polk County Jail for booking and later were released.

Spending time and money going after these women of course means that they have less time to go after real criminals. Case in point happened last week. When they were not around in the 800 block of Lyon Street. A Clive man needed their help after he was sprayed with a chemical deterrent, kicked, and hit with a baseball bat by a man and a woman, whom he claims was a prostitute.

A reserve police officer from Waterloo will not be charged in connection with a weekend scuffle at a Des Moines hotel that involved a woman he planned to pay for sex, according to a police report.

41 year old told officers he was at the Quality Inn and Suites on Thord St to meet a woman he contacted through Craigslist, an online classifieds Web site that has become popular with prostitutes and their customers, authorities said.

A hotel manager called police after Steven and the woman allegedly fought in a fourth-floor hallway at about 1:45 p.m. Saturday. Steven said he tried to wrestle away the woman's cell phone when he thought she was going to call her pimp, the police report said.

The woman's name was blacked out in the report.

When police asked Steven for his identification, he allegedly laid his driver's license on the table, put his Waterloo police identification next to it and said: "And this is the one that will hurt."

A Waterloo police official told Des Moines officers that Steven had been on duty until 1 a.m. Saturday.

The woman told police that she met Steven at the Lumberyard, a strip club on the north side of Des Moines, where she works. She asked Steven "to come to the hotel to hang out," the report said.

The woman denied that she solicited via Craigslist. She told police that Steven was upset with her because she "just wanted to hang out."

"The female denied being a prostitute, so there was no way to prove it in a court of law," Des Moines Police Sgt. Lori Lavorato said.

Steven suffered an abrasion and a torn shirt in the scuffle. No charges were filed. Both were photographed and released.

Waterloo police Capt. John Beckman said that he was not aware of the alleged incident and that department officials would be "looking into it."

The incident has forced Steven to quit the volunteer program Tuesday after police officials questioned him about the incident, Waterloo Police Capt. John Beckman said.

Steven was one of about a dozen Waterloo reserve officers who ride with sworn officers on patrols and work special events.

"When they are working for us, they have the same abilities as a sworn officer," Beckman said. "When they're not, they are just regular citizens."

Steven was in the program for nearly 14 years. He had finished a late-night shift about 13 hours before the hotel incident.

After receiving a complaint of prostitution on E. Walnut St. in Des Moines police went to the Internet, scanning ads on backpage.com instead of going to the location in question.

After discovering the adult section at the website, officers called a phone number they found online and spoke with a woman, later identified as 36 year old Candace. Candace allegedly set up a meeting at an east side convenience store. After arriving at said location an undercover officer was directed to the E. Walnut St location.

A police report says an undercover officer was waved inside by Valerie, who was in the living room. "(she) took me upstairs and wanted to exchange $200 for sex," the officer wrote in the report.

Valerie was taken into custody on a charge of prostitution.

The undercover officer said: "I knew Candace had a warrant for her arrest and was going to be arrested for pimping. " although it is unclear how he knew who Candace was since he had not yet met her. "I talked with her several times on the phone and tried to get her to come back home." Officers finally located her and took her into custody.

Candace was charged with pimping and non-support of a child. She is being held in the Polk County Jail on $20,000 bond. Valerie remains in custody on $2,000 bond.

A homeless woman allegedly tried to escape on Monday when she learned the man sitting next to her was an undercover officer.

33 year old Katherine was arrested following a scuffle. She was charged with prostitution and interference with official acts.

Des Moines police said Katherine climbed into a vehicle occupied by a police officer on Atkins Street shortly before 2 p.m. She allegedly told the officer she needed "crack or money."

A Des Moines pair were arrested by police early Friday morning and charged with prostitution after an officer found the man with the woman in Prospect Park with his pants undone.

33 year old Steven of Des Moines, and 28 year old Hayley also of Des Moines, were both charged with prostitution.

Des Moines police officer Brandon Singleton said in a report that he saw a white Dodge caravan parked in at Prospect Park, 1225 Prospect Road, shortly after 1 a.m.

Singleton said he drove into the lot because it was after park hours and because of the reputation of the park as a place to use drugs and commit other crimes.

Singleton said he observed Steven in the drivers seat and Haley in the passenger seat. He said he turned his lights on, at which time Steven exited the vehicle and popped the hood to the van.

When asked what he was doing, Singleton said Steven told him he had picked up Haley from a friends on 9th Street and that his van had overheated.

Singleton said Stevens pants were undone. He said Steven immediately became nervous after some short questioning.

Singleton said Steven later foolishly admitted that Haley approached him on 9th Street and asked What are you looking for. Steven told Singleton, according to the report, that he drove Haley to an ATM at a local QuickTrip convenience store, drove to Prospect Park and paid her $20 for a sex act.

Both Steven and Haley were then taken to the Polk County Jail. Haley is being held on a $2,000 bond. Steven bonded out later Friday morning.
