I always use a VPN. You should too if you are not already.

Question: Do any of you know of a VPN that work with STG?

PIA does not and my subscription is up so I'd like to switch if there is one that works.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance! No offense, but WTF is a VPN? And how does it relate to the hobby and most importantly of all, why did you create a blog for this inquiry? Inquiring minds would like to know.

SpazI use tunnelbear and I have the same issue. STG gives me a denial of service warning; however in the same notice they say you can email them your IP address at dos@skipthegames.com and they will fix your issue so I would try that unless you are moving your location.

No offense, but WTF is a VPN? And how does it relate to the hobby and most importantly of all, why did you create a blog for this inquiry? Inquiring minds would like to know.I don't know that much about VPNs and I don't use one yet. I would love info on an affordable VPN.

But its VERY related as it is a way to protect your privacy. It blocks your computers IP address and sends out a different one (I think) so no one can identify you while you are on questionable sites (not that there's anything wrong with that). I'm sure some more knowledgeable mongers will chime in soon with much better information.

No offense, but WTF is a VPN? And how does it relate to the hobby and most importantly of all, why did you create a blog for this inquiry? Inquiring minds would like to know.Virtual Private Network. Since you chose to start with WTF and No offense, I will make this very simple.

A vpn hides you IP address by tunneling from your phone or computer to another computer. No your address can't be tracked, hence 'private'. The VPN provider is usually homed in a country with strict privacy laws so your internet traffic is safe.

The why it relates to the hobby? Because I don't want the police raid some office somewhere, finding my IP, and then banging on my door at 2 am.

The blog? Because we may all benefit from this information and it won't get buried in the forum.

My guess is many of us a technically savy and use some form of security in the hobby, apparently you don't, but I wish you would. With the right type of warrant a judge can get your phone and computer history, and the divorce attorney will be very happy to empty your bank account for you soon to be ex.

Spaz.

PS: PIA VPN is 35$ a year. Way cheaper than an attorney!

PS: PIA VPN is 35$ a year. Way cheaper than an attorney! Thanks for the explanation. Now I understand. I'm really not tech savvy but I use a burner phone. It is probably because I am of an older generation. Hell, I'm still trying to figure out my iPhone!

SpazMy VPN denies me access to stg so I am wondering if you get denied then they know your address?

Also I am banned from ticktock for saying stuff about Nince Piglosie like kill her and all kinds of good stuff like that I hide my address and the send me threats.

With my info clearly known to them the call me by my name know what town I live in know my age so they know everything even with the VPN.

Don't spell that knunts name correctly if you know what's good for you.

Don't spell that knunts name correctly if you know what's good for you. There's no such thing, any more of anonymity on the internet or the World Wide Web! Big brother is watching and it's amazing that prophecy came true sooner than I ever thought possible when thirty years ago we all laughed at such a notion becoming reality. I mean we all knew the FBI was watching radical left undesirables (myself included) Mafia kingpins, Mohamed Ali, Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X etc. And just shrugged our shoulders! Now, anything about anyone, is available just by clicking on the right button. Now, that's really scary! But, at my age I say "go f**k yourself " because I really don't give a shit! You bastards didn't get to me in the 60's and you won't get to me now! That's my humble opinion!

My VPN denies me access to stg.STG is denying you access from your VPN, not the other way round. Any website (including this one) will see your IP address when you access it. When you use a VPN, it is the IP address of the VPN server and not yours that the website sees. So websites maintain lists of publicly known VPN IPs, making it very easy to block them. The easiest solution is to use more expensive VPN solutions that have a much bigger variety of IP addresses that they continually change to stay one step ahead of the banned lists.

Stg doesn't know the address just that a vpn is used. Anytime you deal with the government they are going to find you if they want to. You should make sure they didn't put virus on your computer to give them access. Stay safe.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warrant_canary For those who think a vpn is a safeguard. Why not use the TOR browser? It routes through many sites.

Good tip. That is definitely another layer.

Than can help.STG is usually / not always accessible through TOR and I don't believe your IP address can be tracked through TOR.
