LE was out in full force along 99 last night between 8:00 and 9:00 pm. I cruised up and down 99 from Denny way to the Kidd Valley and saw several SW's but also saw quite a bit of LE.

One was interesting enough to warrant a stop, but by the time I turned around she was on the other side of 99! She was probably 18-19 brown hair, 5'6" tall and thin. I saw her up at 99 and 130th. Though she may have been tweaking or something because it looked like she was talking with herself.

I was on a bike, which is a pretty good way to become invisible (as far as pimps, drug dealers, hookers and LE are cocerned) if you are smart about things. Damn if I didn't see two sisters working on Airport Road Thursday afternoon at 3:30. They were near the Fed Ex station in Georgetown and ran like chickens with their heads chopped off when LE drove by. While they weren't that great looking (4ish) it was interesting to see them out there. This is the first time I have seen anything remotely looking like a working SW there in the last year.

On another note. I've been in the 99/Greenlake area and can confirm that there's definitely some action there.

Wellhung---I've seen a cop car hidden on the east side of Aurora almost every night I've gone out, usually between 85th and 105th, though I'm pretty sure he's just there to catch speeders. That stretch of Aurora from the zoo up to a few blocks north of the Greenlake 7-Eleven seems to be a regular speed trap, so be careful.

went out last night from 10:30 to 1:15. Good Night. The Hcaine-Bell, Denny park dead at 10:30. Went north on 99 and saw 5 younger, cute girls working a block or two up from the Winona 7-11. Perv45...well, you came to the city where the AMPs are slim pickings (or lousy) and the escorts are everywhere. Guys...I took one for you....unless you are into real heavy chicks, avoid "The Pleasure Goddess" or Thalia....she was pretty friendly I guess, but pretty misleading....said she had a hourglass figure (she did say she was full figured...but my god!) Well, just got back from my Seattle trip. Unfortunately, quite disappointed. I was on foot most of the time and did inspect the Denny area and Hurricane area. Yes, I think I got lucky last night. Watched both sides of Aurora around Denny and saw her heading towards the Hurricane? Just a note to report a sighting on Pacific Hwy in Kent. I was with someone, so could not check her out too much. It was about 6:30, Friday, at around 260th, just south of the Fred Meyer. The area I saw hookers on Pacific Hwy S in Kent on two nights last week was from around 252nd to 240th. I saw at least one Tuesday night, and 2 or 3 Wednesday night. These sightings were well after midnight, and the quality wasn't as good as the one you described. The Kent stretch has seemed to be the favored stroll of Pacific Hwy S in recent years, although I did see one poor-quality hooker in the Tukwila part last week, and cops have been stinging others there in recent months.

Usually, whenever I get time, my stroll is the typical Tacoma Ave and around Lakewood in Tacoma and the B&I in Tacoma but, I have noticed an increase activity in SWs lately around Federal Way (and of course..increased LE activity as well - not sure if the increased LE is due to the new "Click it or Ticket" gihad or increased in stings due to SWs)

Anyway, I was in Fed Way and picked up a SW around 19-20years ish and her name was Serafina. She was the best looking SW I've picked up to date. She said her nationality was Spanish. She had natural breasts (Estimate around 34Cs or so.), a very thin figure and very smooth skin all around.

I've been occasionally asking for years if anyone in the Puget Sound area can recommend hourly-rate motels, and only received one tip: The Daffodil Motel at 7909 Pacific Hwy E in Milton (between Federal Way and Fife). He said they charge $20 an hour. I've never tried it, but it appears to be in unincorporated Pierce County rather than the city of Milton, which might explain why it's still (or was when the guy mentioned it) offering hourly rates.

From what I understand, most cities with regular street prostitution activity have put pressure on motels to not rent by the hour, and to exclude guests who live within a certain radius (as you have noted). In contrast, unincorporated parts of counties have tended to be more lax about various forms of adult entertainment. The effort to eliminate hourly-rate motels doesn't make any sense to me because it just drives more prostitution activity into parked vehicles--which is one of the big reasons there is so much hostility to the street trade. But I guess it all fits in with the moronic, hypocritical, "zero-tolerance" philosophy that we see in so much of American life these days.

Again, if anyone knows of other suitable places from Lakewood to Everett, let us know.

I've used 2 hotels for an hourly fee, both in the Lakewood/S. Tacoma Way area. I'm not going to post the names on the board for fear of letting a good thing go away, but you can email me and if I recognize you I'll respond with the names and locations.

By the way, they are both $25.00 / hour, one asks for ID (I live more than 50 miles away, so can't comment on that issue) and the other doesn't ask for ID. I used the latter just last night and all was good.

Thanks for the tips. I've long considered putting up a separate page on my guide to list hobby-friendly motels and hotels (not strictly hourly-rate ones, either) if I became aware of a number of them, but you are obviously of the opinion that this information should not be broadcast to the masses in open forums like this or my site. The camera that I saw was something like a TV camera on a tripod. There were several people surrounding it and it appeared that they were filming traffic going into the city.

However, I did drive up there yesterday afternoon and noticed a camera just north of the pedestrian overpass (this is the one near Oak Tree Plaza on Aurora Ave North). This camera was pointing south, towards Seattle. It's probably one of the cameras like those in Lynwood that are used to control the traffic lights. Possible Sting!

I was cruising the Denny Park area tonight around 9:30PM and noticed 2 police cars pulled over with their lights on. The wsdot cams can turn to look different directions and that one appears to be fixed in place. of course, they could have changed their design. Also, this isn't at the intersection but mid block and the pedestrian bridge has got to block some of the intersection view.

It is in a wierd place for crime prevention, though. closer to greenlake would be a more logical one. like 80th-90th which appears to my eyes to be the roughest stretch of north 99. I've never seen an SW there (Larry's, OakTree Cinema) but lots further south.

It's not the type of Traffic Camera that they use to view traffic. It's connected to a system and is used to detect traffic flow. Essentially what it does is to sense when traffic is blocked up on 99 and let the light stay green a little longer.

They installed these in Lynwood last year and I've heard they help.

I agree that it seems like an odd spot. Personally I won't be picking ANYONE along that stretch of Aurora.

Things have been pretty dead in Seattle lately. Most likely due to increased LE along Aurora Ave between Greenlake and 175th. I realize that a lot of the activity on Aurora near 80th - 85th might be to curb drug dealing, but it's drying up the SW's. I would like to share a price negotiation tip that has worked very well for me in terms of getting more service for your money.

My sightings have been in well documented areas, some on Aurora (from Denny up towards Sugars in various spots), most have been in downtown Seattle/Belltown. The few places I've encountered SW away is when they were in transit to a publicized area (see Peaches below).

I drive through downtown every day as a part of my daily routine. There's been days that are deserted and others where the SW are swarming. I've noticed LE has a lot to do with it at least downtown. For example, Tuesday was a gorgeous night, but I could only find 2 or 3 SW in a very thorough search compared to over 12 LE sightings. Last night around 5pm I counted 12 girls all confirmed working, limited LE presence. Pretty amazing. Downtown/Belltown is alive and well, has been all year.

I heartily agree with CBGB, and I've tried to convey that view as clearly as I can in the legal section of my guide. If you just look at the stroll listings, though, the difference between the two cities may not appear that great, but there is an enormous difference in quantity of action available on a typical night, quality of hookers, and LE's level of concern about what's going on. I strongly urge every Seattle-area john to check out Vancouver at least once. There have been some indications in the last year that BC is moving toward some type of vehicle forfeiture policy, but as far as I know it has yet to be implemented. If this does occur, it could change which side of the border is best for street johns for awhile--at least until the bluenoses in Olympia adopt something comparable.

Perhaps the main concern in visiting Vancouver is being hassled or turned around at the border, and there are a plethora of reasons why that can happen--the biggest being that if you have a criminal record (including DUIs or petty drug possession). Still, it is possible to slip through for a long time (and I'm talking years) without being scrutinized in so-called secondary inspection. See my 6-25-02 "Beat the Border" post on the Vancouver board for more about this. The thing to keep in mind about the border is that the odds are always on your side of getting through if you know what to expect and have all your answers prepared. The two countries have to let the vast majority of the millions of people who cross the Blaine borders every year through with little or no hassle because it would severely impact the economies of BC and WA not to.

Had a strange incident in the Denny Park area couple nights ago. I got followed by some guy and a gal in a dark colored Ford Ranger pickup truck. As I drove out of the area south toward downtown, I noticed they were still behind me. I made a few turns to see if they would still follow. I then got on I-5 headed northbound and still they were following. I also even tried veering off the exit from a couple lanes over and they deliberately made the lane change to follow. They didn't break off until I was well into Redmond.

I have no idea who they were or why they were following me. They obviously were able to get my plates. Any clue? Maybe a resident of the area? This has never happened to me in the many years I have been cruising. I don't think they were LE.

spent a little time cruising wed night (jul 3). happy to confirm that there's lots of activity one street over from aurora, on the west side (behind the closed denny's). from about 10-11, there were 3 black girls (one really thin with a near-perfect ass). two of them appeared to be working independently -- one had a cell phone glued to her head but was definitely working.
one of the girls was teamed up with a petite white girl -- dyed blonde hair. the blonde kept getting picked up right away. each time i circled back she was gone.
was also one brunette -- didn't get a great look at her but she seemed OK.
departed the area for awhile to check denny park (dead) and the area around the hurricane (thought i spied one good-looking redhead but i think she was actually heading to the hurricane)
traveled up aurora to greenlake area. LE was a idling in the driveway at the co-op, just north of 7-11. still -- there was one SW working the corner 25 feet away. (saw her get picked up, and later hanging out in the 7-11 parking lot -- so i know she was for real.) other than that -- dead.
by the time i got back to aurora (near denny's) all the action had died down.
btw -- regarding increased action/stings on certain days, i remember one of the first times i scored on aurora, the girl hopped in and said, "so it's pay day, right?" not living paycheck to paycheck, the comment didn't register right away.
but i do think there's some correlation to traditional paydays and increased SW action. (lord knows action is not always tied to weather like you'd expect it to be.)

Traveler, I don't know what to make of your experience. It couldn't have been LE because they followed you out of Seattle, and why anyone else would be following you if there was no road rage incident is beyond me.

I had a freaky thing happen to me in Tacoma a few years ago. I was pulling up to Pacific Ave from Puyallup Ave in the dead of night, and there was a car with several black males in it idling on the other side of Puyallup. I glanced at them too long I guess, and it spurred the driver to whip around along my passenger side (I was in the left lane) --almost like he was challenging me in some way. I remember stopping briefly in surprise, then smoothly accelerating forward to get away from them. For some reason they decided not to pursue or threaten me further (maybe because they realized I was a lone white dude). I can't remember if I ran the signal at Pacific & Puyallup, but I would have if they were still alongside me. Anyway, that incident--along with the regular reports of road rage insanity in the papers--spurred me to have a cell phone within reach in my car at all times. Let's face it: Many of these neighborhoods where SWs roam have pretty bad reputations (Seattle's Rainier Valley and Central District, Tacoma's Hilltop, Lakewood's Ponders and Tillicum strips, parts of Pacific Hwy S in Federal Way, etc.), and I recommend that johns who cruise them should at least have a phone. I've also considered getting a gun, and wonder how many other normal johns are carrying one.

Yeah, I have a lot of philosophical problems with going the gun route, and probably will never do it. I've never owned one, and I'd like to see the U.S. adopt the same level of gun control and registration that Canada has because that's one of the big reasons why that border can't be more open like those in Europe are now. The other concern is that I have a history of doing stupid things when I lose my temper, and having a gun handy in the past when this occurred came close to resulting in someone getting hurt and me going to prison. I'm not knocking johns who do carry them, though. I think the threat of gun violence is one of the main reasons no police agency I'm aware of will allow decoys to get in johns' vehicles.

WHITE CENTER (16th Ave SW from approximately SW Roxbury to SW 100th streets, just beyond the Seattle city limits) -- Am I the only john here who has seen this stroll? I don't recall anyone else mentioning it. I stumbled on to it last year after reading a Susan Paynter P-I column with a vague mention of prostitution activity on Delridge Way to the north. I still haven't seen anything convincing on Delridge, but thought the sleazy little White Center strip had potential the first night I laid eyes on it last summer. Porn shops, dive bars, and the occasional dirtbag and ho loitering about--I thought "This is our kind of town!", and I made 2 or 3 sightings that night. I've checked it a couple of times since and it didn't look as lively, but I guess the nice weather has improved things because as soon as I parked on 16th last night around 10 PM there was a Native-looking female at my door asking if I could give her "a ride". I estimate she was late teens or early 20s, and about a "4". I went into a porn shop, and when I came out I noticed she was strolling around with a Caucasian female who couldn't have been more than 20, wearing something that exposed her legs from her buttocks to her ankles. A bit on the thin side and her face wasn't that cute, but I gave her a "7+" for overall sexiness. I decided to hang out here for at least an hour, and saw 2 or 3 others who were definitely working, plus another couple of "maybes". I noticed that LE made regular passes through the strip, and at one point a bunch of squad cars parked, and officers got out and were questioning some people outside a bar. It was my impression that this is King County Sheriff territory, but some of the cars were SeaTac's. I don't think SeaTac has annexed this area, but I've heard that KC cops have driven SeaTac cars in the past, and there is a close relationship between the two departments. I think the cops put some heat on the Native, Caucasian, and another one because they moved over to a bus stop on 15th near Roxbury after awhile. I also saw another SW or two working 15th a little further south, but nothing on 17th.

PACIFIC HIGHWAY S / INTERNATIONAL BLVD -- I hit the strip around midnight, and saw a suspected SW walking the northern SeaTac part toward the Denny's. She looked pretty good, but no eye contact. Not much else until I got down to the end in Federal Way--where I saw a possible one walking on 16th Ave S near where it turns into Pacific Hwy, then she continued north. There was also another who might have been working a bus stop with a male just north of there. Also nearby, the cops were questioning some hot Asian chicks outside an Asian dance club or bar for quite awhile, but they looked too middle-class and were dressed too nicely to be SWs. After 3 AM, I saw a couple in the Kent strip from about 248th to Kent-Des Moines Rd. One was in shorts, a bit stocky, and I estmated her to be upper "fair" quality. There was another older, "poor" quality SW in the Tukwila stretch, and a couple of possibles there walking through a casino parking lot who gave me some eye contact. There were a few others throughout the strip from Tukwila to Federal Way who I had suspicions about, but they weren't giving much eye contact to motorists, and were possibly trying to be discreet.

I decided to check the above areas last night because no one had said anything about them in over a month. Thanks to everyone who contributes in these WA forums, and keep the reports coming!

Went out tonight just after dark just to check out the scene, not to pick anyone up. There was a very strong LE presence, I saw the marked cars, the bike cops, and three different pairs of those community patrol (whatever they are called with the blue hats).
There was SW out, one black girl was an 8 walking towards Denny. By the hurricane there was a skinnier white girl tweaking, and two obviously drunk SW waving down cars.

Okay..I was able to pick up one of the three girls that I mentioned the most previous post I made.

Regarding the theaters:
This sort of stuff used to happen all the time at the downtown theaters in the 80's. The last time I've been propositioned - by a female that is - in any porn shop in Seattle was probably 92 or so. I think that Green River Gary and the crack down on SW's put an end to this.

I meant to post this earlier, but these forums were apparently down again all day Saturday at least.

Friday night from midnight to 1 AM: Lot of action around 6th from Denny to Thomas. 5-10 SWs (probably closer to 10), and more johns circling than I've ever seen there before. Also lots of DV8-related traffic and pedestrians, so it's not always immediately apparent which chicks are club-goers and which are dating. The traffic control on these blocks leaves a lot to be desired, and I'm wondering if any of you guys have noticed this problem: The traffic on 6th technically has the right of way, and the side streets are governed by "Yield" signs. This night was the most congested I've ever seen this area, and there seemed to be a lot of confusion among other motorists as to who had the right of way. There were people on 6th coming to a full stop, then waiting for those coming off of John or whatever to proceed. On the other hand, while travelling down 6th, I was never sure if the vehicles approaching from the side streets were going to come to a complete stop. It was rather harrowing and looked like an accident waiting to happen--which is why I didn't hang around too long.

I also saw two working around 9th & John. The better was Asian (a big fancy with me), and I estimated her to be upper "fair" quality at least. There was some major LE action going on a block or two up Westlake at the time. I didn't get close enough to tell for sure, but it didn't seem prostitution-related.

Aurora: A few from Winona to 85th when I came south at 9:30 PM, and at least one when I went north around 1 AM. There were also 2 or 3 working from 85th to the city limits.

As for trying to score at strip clubs, my perception is that it's usually a waste of time, and you're almost always going to pay more than what you would to a comparable SW. A chick at that Fantasy / Deja Vu place on 1st told me this year that I could do her if I "had a lot of money". That told me that if I had to ask the exact price, I couldn't afford her, so I didn't pursue it further.

I know this question re-surfaces every once in a while but how many of you guys keep track of the ads in Stranger and Seattle Weekly? I personally use those services once every two years or so and every time it turns out as bad as I expected. But I still keep hoping and check out the ads every time I get a chance. I noticed that (some) prices have dropped. A few months ago there were a couple of ads for $100. It turned out to be the same gal with several phone numbers. You may have done the safe thing. Thanks sweetwilly for the info. In regards to your question about .bmp files...if you're using any version of windows, just open your paint program, open your pic, and then go to file menu. Click the save as option and use the arrows on the bottom of that box where it says "save as type." Click .jpg or .gif, there you go!

It's been a while since I've posted. I really don't have anything new to post other than to say that the activity is still pretty much hit or miss.

There is one thin, taller, brunette that I have seen off and on in the area to the North of Denny Park. I've seen her several times in the 9th and Thomas street area in the early evening. One time I was on my bicycle, so didn't approach her. She passes the 'smile' test at least when I'm driving, but I'm concerned about her being LE. She really does look too good to be in that area.

I've only been to the Fantasy Video on Sandy & 28th in Portland. That's where I've found 'in booth' service. The women are there in the late evening on the weekends, though I have seen a few during weekend days.

The doors are full length, and lock. The booths are large by Seattle standards, and it appears that 2 people in a booth is ok in Portland. You could easily get full service, albiet standing, in one of these without throwing out your back.

I've you've never been there, picture Vancouver's Kingsway as Aurora Ave, but with mostly good-quality SWs on its whole length. I saw about 15 (and that's probably a conservative number) on one pass last Friday night--and it was after 2 AM! The Kingsway girls tend to be some of the most expensive in the city, so if you live on more of a working-class budget (like me) you'll probably prefer the cheaper action on the Downtown Eastside low and mid-tracks. The numbers I saw there Friday seemed below normal, but again, the quantity estimates in my guide err on the conservative side, and it was after 2 AM. In regards to those booths at the Lusty Lady: They are for ONE person only- last time I was there (a few years ago) this was strictly enforced. Anyway, I've been cruising a little in the last couple of weeks and haven't really seen much at all from about 175th on 99 to D'wn town and around Denny Park & the Hurricane area. Was in town last Sunday night and cruised around downtown around 1 AM. I drove around for about an hour and saw only one or two maybe's near the Hurricane, but nothing else. There was one girl that looked like she was working, but she was with a big, angry looking guy and I didn't feel like stopping with him there. I then cruised up Aurora all the way to 200 and all I saw (other than lots of LE) was one incredibly ugly skank around 89th. Previous posts have recommended 130th to 145th - am I in the right area? This seems to be Petsmart's and Office Depot and large retail stores. Anyway, I came back into downtown on Aurora and noticed a girl on the other side, so I turned around at Denny and heading back. She was a fairly young black girl with a face of 6 but a body of 9. She gave me a covered bj for 40. Some of the nicest tits I've ever seen...All in all, I've never had much luck in Seattle.

Activity Around Hurricane:

I decided to walk home last night and took a detour north to check for any SWs around the hurricane area. I saw at least 3 or 4. I spoke with one, she said she'd give me a bbbj for $40. I didn't have money so I went to an ATM. When I came back 5 minutes later she was gone. There was a police car parked a couple blocks away so I can't blame her.

Headed toward home going north on 9th Ave, headed toward Westlake. Just a little north of Denny Park I stumpled across two apparrent SWs. I asked if they were working, after we determined none of us were LE we got down to business. Both looked to be in their late teens, one was tall-ish (about 5'9") the other was more stout. Both looked like typical SWs (kind of skanky, but not that bad). The shorter one gave me a decent bbbj/spit for $20 in a secluded corner of a parking lot, while the other kept lookout. A pretty good experience and a great value for $20. She was fairly nice and didn't rush me too much (I took too long, she was actually pretty patient).

Notes: I saw at least two marked LE cars (not sure how many were repeat sightings) during my explorations, and I think at least one of them knew I was up to something because he kept circling around me. After I moved a few blocks north of the Hurricane, he seemed to leave me alone. A few seconds after I finished my SW experiece an LE car drove by me headed in the opposite direction, so I might have gotten lucky. This was my first time cruising for SWs on foot and it wasn't bad. The disadvantage of course is you can't cover as much ground, but the advantage seems to be it's somewhat easier to avoid LE. With all the cop cars around, I probably wouldn't have stopped if I'd been in a vehicle.

I made one leisurely cruise through the "john highway" (State Ave-Broadway-Evergreen Way-Hwy 99-Aurora Ave N) from Marysville to Seattle yesterday from about 9:30 PM on, and didn't see anything until I passed the Seattle city limits about 11 PM. There were a couple of Caucasians (fair quality) in the northern Aurora stretch (145th to 125th), then nothing else until the downtown area. Over the next hour or two, I noted about 6 SWs in the blocks around the Hurricane Cafe, Denny Park, and 6th Ave N--basically the area between 5th Ave, 9th Ave, Thomas St, Blanchard St. The best of the lot I rated "good", and included a black and white strolling together around Denny and Aurora, and a couple of other blacks (one OK, one fat) around 6th. I later saw the fat one on Bell near the Hurricane talking to a john, then much later walking south on 2nd Ave. There was also a younger-looking female just sitting in front of the Hurricane at one point. She was bundled up in a sweatshirt, so I couldn't really gage her quality, and couldn't determine whether she was looking for a trick or just bumming change. Like Horndog, I also saw a fair amount of LE lurking around the whole area, but no prostitution-related stops. I saw another SW on the northern Aurora stretch as I was heading north around 3 AM: Black and kind of young-looking. Unfortunately my funds are very low this month, so I couldn't partake. But I definitely saw more yesterday than I did a week earlier--when I was primarily cruising Pacific Hwy S.

A few thoughts about the lolita issue: I think that any john who has been in this hobby for a long time will probably have picked up someone under 18 who he thought was older. Unless you either stick to women who are clearly over 30, or demand ID from every SW you pick up (impossible, because most don't carry any), there is always this risk of "crossing the line". I think this is an inherent risk of participating in this hobby, and it's not just limited to the street game: Under-18 females occasionally appear in the indoor sex trade as well. The problem of sorting out the minors is compounded by the fact that the under-18s usually try to make themselves look older, and the over-20s try to make themselves look younger. The only thing I can suggest for this problem is to know the laws and know your rights. I'm not passing judgment on johns who specifically seek the younger females, but understand the greater legal risks, and act accordingly. At a minimum, you shouldn't be doing lolitas in your car--where you have the least amount of Constitutional protection from LE. Probably the safest place from a legal standpoint would be your residence, followed by a motel room you have rented. And if the cops do show up, don't let them in, and don't talk to them. Again, I'm not endorsing this behavior, but I think WA's laws in this area are out of proportion with the crime: I have a real problem with the state sending someone to prison for 5 years (Susan Lemery of Marysville) for consensual sex with a postpubescent male, or jailing a Tacoma man for 2 days, then making him perform 28 days of some shitty "community service" work because he had consensual sex with a 17-year-old female. Neither of these people would have done a day in Canada--where the age of consent is still a sensible 14.

Regarding Capitol Hill, I'm not aware of any significant activity there--but I must point out that I check it only a couple of times a year. There was an article in The Seattle Press in 2000 that mentioned increasing prostitution activity on Capitol Hill, but they didn't give a precise location. I got the impression they were referring to the Broadway area. I did see some hookers this year further east around Madison & 23rd--in what is technically The Central District--but they were poor-quality blacks. I've seen the same type on 23rd between Madison & Yesler (or on Yesler between 23rd & Pioneer Square) in previous years, and possibly a few west of that area on or around Madison. Someone who lives in the Capitol Hill area told me a few years ago that there was nothing there. Many years ago (in the '80s?) I'm not sure what the deal is with all the police either, especially since the city of Seattle (government) is in such a budget crunch right now. You'd think with their resources slighly diminished (LE hasn't been cut as much as some other depts), they'd focus on felonious crimes rather than the relatively benign "crime" we johns engage in. Maybe LE is looking to make a little extra $, for the department, although since few johns are ever actually caught, this doesn't really make sense.

I'm not sure why Seattle is so tough on SW activity, but I think it might have something to do with the strong feminist element here: You know the whole B.S. arguement about objectification, blah, blah, blah. For such a supposedly "liberal" city, Seattle has really strict constraints on sexual behavior.

Lastly, I recently had luck finding SW while on foot in the vicintiy of the Hurricane (see my previous posting). If you crusie around, spanning a few blocks in all directions (N,S,E,W). Glad to see your site got some postivie press in the Seattle Weekly. If you don't mind, which issue was it in? I read the Weekly pretty regularly and don't remember seeing it.

Also, you're right about how PC Seattle is, and PC isn't the same as liberal: PC is being very careful to speak and behave in such a way that no one is offended. In many ways, this is the opposite of what it means to be truly liberal. I try to maintain a liberal approach, which to me isn't so much about specific sociopolitical ideas, but about trying to keep an open mind to all ideas. Related to this, I think the laws should only aim to prevent/punish behaviors that involve the unconsensual harm of others (murder, rape, larceny, etc.). It's ridiculous that so many consensual behaviors (particularly: prostitution, sodomy, and personal drug use) are criminalized in a "free" society. I'm not arguing these behaviors are venerable, but there are plenty of legal behaviors (like mass industrial pollution) that are far more harmful to far more people. Thanks for letting me rant.

As for the hard line LE (especially in this country and area) takes toward prostitution, it strikes me as very absurd and hypocritical. I'm not saying selling sex is the greatest profession, and yes--it can sometimes be demeaning and degrading--but there are a thousand other demeaning and degrading professions that the politicians and cops don't give a rat's ass about. I mean, if they're going to claim that prostitutes are victims and need to be "saved" by the government, then why don't they do the same thing for the guy who cleans toilets or the woman who cleans the butts of invalids? The only reason they care about prostitution is because the sex organs are involved. They're really following the same age-old pattern of trying to control people's sex organs
that has been a staple of religion. Sex is one of the most powerful things in human culture, and controlling it makes those in power seem more powerful.

As for DogDays' comment about the government trying to lock us all up, I think the trend is away from that because of the dire financial situation the various city and county budgets are in--and probably will be in for years to come. I think in the future they'll seize your car and sell it at the Woodinville Public Auto Auction, make you perform weeks of some shitty "community service" work like picking up trash or pulling weeds in order to pay back your "debt" to society, and wear an ankle bracelet monitor to make sure you're home by your designated curfew time.

i drive past them, get two miles down the road, and come back. she isn't on pacific, but i see the same cop parked at the far end of the i-hop parking lot. so she must be inside. i turn into the lot, and as i'm buying a seattle newspaper sure enough she comes out of the i-hop with a coffee in hand. she sees me, comes over and says "are you following me?" in a nice, unthreatened way. i smile, and stammer out "no, but there is a cop who's watching you! on your left, don't look just yet." she says right away, "are you a cop?" i say no, just letting you know there's one watching you. she kinda shrugs, i say bye, and she goes on her way, seemingly unconcerned.

the only other indentifying mark she has is a tongue-ring.

Arrived in Seattle Saturday night and was pleased to find the situation had changed (for the better) since being out here the same time last year.

Denny Way from gas station (by Aurora Ave North) down to the park. Saw three very attractive "young" girls on the stroll as I was heading downtown to my hotel. They were dressed for the part had cars stopping and traffic was getting tied up. By the time I got back all were gone. White and latino I beleive


Aurora North (corner of Thomas street). You will find some SW's there of different races (black, white, and one very light skin). Again most of these girls look somewhere in their late teens.

Sometimes they walk up to the gas station as well. I picked up a nice young "sister" there. This was on Monday night. I had to park and walk up to them. They all seem to think I'm a pimp.

She wanted $100.00 for F/S but we settled on $70 and I'll tell you why I was willing to pay this much.

None of these girls are like the Scags you see up by the Hurricane, as a matter of fact they're not on dope at all. Yes what we have here is real live street workers, hustling to make a buck for something else besides Crack.

They don't smell god awful, are clean and well kept.

Sadly they are not out all the time so it's hit or miss. Sunday night was dead save for one SW on Aurora N by Thomas, but by the time I got back she was gone.

LE is very prevelant in these areas (marked cars). They are not rousting anyone, that I saw. But they make sure you know that they are around.

Your best hours it seems is somewhere between 9:00 PM and 2:00 AM. After that things seem to die off.

Good report, InnocenceKills. You characterized what the scene around the Denny-Aurora junction looks like (on a good night) very well.

Indecisive, I can't say for certain she wasn't a decoy, but it doesn't sound like it. It depends how much ground she was covering (decoys tend to stay in a fairly small area so as not to lose visual contact with the backup goons), and how long she talked to the guy in the Acura: A decoy wouldn't have got in, but would have tried to engage him in conversation for as long as possible in the hope that he would solicit her anyway. If you have any suspicions that a woman is a decoy, the best policy is just to offer a ride. If she doesn't get in--and especially if she starts talking about a prostitution deal or cops, drive away immediately. Another tactic is to just park and watch her for awhile. Once you get a sense of the direction she's moving, pull up to the next side street or parking lot and park a good distance off the main stroll. Then when she walks by, flash your headlights and wave her over. A real SW would probably walk over, but a decoy wouldn't because she would be out of visual contact with her backup. As for the cop you saw--yes--sometimes cops will just watch suspected SWs. Then, if the cop sees her get in a vehicle (and he has nothing better to do), he'll pull the vehicle over, separate the hooker and john, and try to get some sort of confession of a prostitution deal. There also might be vice goons in unmarked cars doing this--or even following the suspected hooker and john to a car date location. Then the cops sneak up and make arrests for public indecency--if not prostitution as well.

The cities along that whole Pacific Hwy S / International Blvd strip seem to take a pretty hard line toward prostitution compared to Tacoma in particular, and SeaTac seems to be one of (if not THE) worst. If I had to pick a part of that "Pac Hwy" strip that I'd feel most comfortable picking up in, it would be the Kent-Des Moines stretch from Kent-Des Moines Rd to around S 276th St in Federal Way. This also seems to be the stretch with the most activity in recent years.

It's been quite awhile since I posted so I thought I would drop a quick report on the Denny area. Last evening after lifting a pint at a local establishment (D&H) I decided to scout out the Denny area as it's a couple of minutes away. Turned onto to Thomas and immediatelly spotted a gal who gave the all too familiar look. Pulled into an alley and was surprised by the appearance of this lady when she approached the passenger window, She looked like one of these Gen-x types, tall, brown hair pulled back and the nerdy glasses that signify the type. She got into the car and introduced herself as Kristen, she was very attractive and had what appeared to be a great body. We drove toward REI after agreeing on oral. Just got back in town after being gone for 2 months and had to check out the areas. LE was definitely out looking for pickups and SW's. I have had the unfournate experience of getting caught in with the decoy thing, back home in NYC.

Your right they (decoys) do tend to stay in one place and you must "commit" yourself by making "certain statements" so that when the backup teams hear that over the wire she is wearing all hell breaks lose.

I don't think any of the SW's I posted about were decoys though.

As a side note, I cruised by the area early this morning on my way in from Tacoma. LE had two SW's with hands up on marked crusier hood at Denny Way and 99 North. There were three LE's in one car, so that leads me to believe it was some kind of team. Didn't hang around to see the outcome.

LE was also patroling alley way behind the Hurricane and along 7th ave.

Hey just thought that I'd add my little bit. I run on the waterfront in the early afternoons from Coleman Terminal north thru Myrtle Edwards Park. I've noticed a few very probable SWs both along Alaskan Way and at the entrance to the Park by Pier 70. I've only seen this in the summer months though.

Now you can cruise Aurora without leaving your computer! These are the first live webcams I've found of an area prostitution strip, and they should allay the fears of those who thought they were installed for anything more sinister than traffic monitoring purposes. They apparently don't "zoom" like the real cop cams in Everett and Tukwila do, and are permanently centered on the road, not the sidewalks. Saturday night I did the Denny Park, Hurricane, King Cat, DV8, Belltown and International district cruise and found absolutely nothing. It was between 2 and 4 AM.

Last night I saw a "Cops" episode where a minor in possession of alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, and heroin basically said to the cops: "I'm cruising this bad neighborhood because I'm looking for drugs, and here's the drugs." Don't do this! Don't do the cops' job for them! You have to keep reminding yourself that these cops are not your friends, and the only reason they are talking to you is because they're hoping to add you to their bust statistics. I recommend several books on avoiding arrests on my Books & Tips page, but if you don't buy the books, at least read the link under them about dealing with the cops:
