DO you exchange currency at the border? Or do you do it before hand at your bank? I read the exchange rate is better down there? Or near the border? Do girls prefer pesos over dollars? Or does it not matter to them?Exchange are relatively the same, for first timers do it close to the border and look around. Do a google search and see the live rate to get an idea. Right now it's like 1 dollar is like 18.50 or 1 peso is. 53 something like that.

I have a Schwab card, they do not have a bank so you can use any ATM (National banks preferred: Bannamex, Banorte, HSBC, etc) there and they reimburse you at the end of the month for any fees. That and no foreign fees plus they are right on the exchange rate.

It's best to have both, some girls charge $60 but for pesos they would say 1300/1200/1100 pesos which at 1100 you are getting a bit of a deal but at 1200 they get a little more. It depends, trial and error. My first chica cheated me some hundred pesos, she was good looking but once the clothes came off, not as good since her surgery marks weren't that well healed. If you cross the border in cars, Mexican Immigration does not ask for passport, visa app or stamping passports. They stopped and inspected my car but only asked for car registration to check against the VIN # on the dashboard because many Mexicans drive stolen cars or cars with expired US registration so they don't pay Mexico's tax. A few times Policias have checked my driver license and car registration, but they have never asked to see passport.

Your expired passport is still proof of citizenship and CBP has to let you come back to US, but they may hassle you a little. You should renew your passport ASAP.

I have been going to Tijuana for 18 years, rolling in beds with lots of girls, never had anything stolen from me, but you should always be careful. I have a passport card in my wallet, good enough for driving into Mexico since they don't stamp passport if you cross in cars. The big paper passport is for travel to countries that will stamp passports.

You should also get a Global Entry card. It makes crossing border and reentry through airports quick and painless. It costs $100 for 5 years, will save a lot of time at border and airports. Apply to have 2 or 3 cars registered with your Global Entry card for free. It makes life so good crossing border into Tijuana fast to spend time with pretty chicas hehe.

Also should get the passport card to keep it in your wallet. Cost s $10 extra.

Last Saturday the Baja 1000 race started in Ensenada going all the way down to La Paz.

You can use PedWest to enter Mexico, but it's closed after 10 PM. PedEast is open 24/7 for crossing into Mexico.

For crossing back to the US both PedEast and PedWest are open 24/7, and are fast late at night, usually only a few people taking 5 to 10 minutes max.

A couple guys car pool, usually Wed or Friday, leaving OC about 6 PM, stay until midnight and arriving back about 1:30 AM. That gives you about 4.5 hours on site to mingle, party with and screw 3 or 4 bar girls or street girls. From PedWest you have to walk through an empty shopping plaza, up the stairs, over the long foot bridge across the Tijuana river towards El Arco.

That's Freedom Path, used to be fun, interesting, colorful, crowded and lively, full of unique Mexican scents and flavors with tacos shops, gift stores, bars, farmacias, trinket carts, and lots of visitors wandering on foot. But after 2008 it's mostly deserted and dark after sundown. Most stores have closed down. I have seen quite a few scruffy, bearded, filthy migrants sleeping in the stair wells and the narrow alleys of the Mercado de Artesnnia. They are hungry, desperate and drugs addicted. Potentially they can do anything to get their fixes.

The official taxi and UBER rates from the border to HK on Coahuila is only 50 pesos, or about $2. 70. It saves you lots of time, walking, sweating and big potential exposures to crimes. Take taxis to and from the border and Coahuila, save some huffing, puffing, help the local economy, secure yourself from crimes to live and monger another day!

On Saturday morning, I drove 2 hours door to door from OC to Border station parking.

I changed $$ in pesos. Walked through the border in 15 min and reached Tijuana around 12 pm.

I speak some Spanish, I asked a few taxis the price to Calle Coahulla, but no less than 100 pesos and not very friendly. I decided to take the pedestrian bridge and walk. I takes 5 min, easy, I felt safe but I will not do it at night.

I had a walk through Calle Coahulla, it was quiet, significant police patrol make me feel safe. A few girls are staying in front of Adelitas but most of the activity is to clean the streets from last night.

I must say that apart from HK club bloc, most streets are dirty, smelly and lots of old guys lying there asking money or selling anything.

At a corner, an old man is laying on the road with blood on the head; a police officer next to him seems to be waiting for an ambulance. I am not sure if it was a fight or an accident and many people around have a normal behavior.
