President elect Trump says that he doesn't want to live in the White House probably because its too small for him and his wife. He prefers to fly every night back to the Trump Plaza and sleep there. Now doesn't that put the others that reside in the Tower at risk for a potential suicide attack? What about his secret service protection? I think he just being unrealistic because he has so much money.

Sure for someone that was paid $3,500 a year and he came to Hawaii in the late 90's with 15 million in cash, gold bars and jewelry but some how left thousands of pairs of his wife shoes in the Philipines. He should be buried in the sewers of his home town of Ilocos Norte. Yes they can bury him with all his wife shoes on top with a couple tons of cement. For the people that still consider him their god, where are you today? Probably the same place you were 30 years ago.

If he doesn't like it, resign.

And his family all have top level clearance. Will it truly help the American people? We will see. He tends to overreact to the slightest provocation or perceived insult, true or not. I guess there's hope that Hawaii may have some influence with the Federal government in 2017 and beyond. I wonder if her Democratic brethren will give her any flack if she turns to the dark side?

http://www.staradvertiser.com/2016/11/21/breaking-news/gabbard-meeting-with-trump-for-job-in-administration-reports-say/I think people are going to find out after the first year of his Presidency that Trump isn't as loyal to the Republican Party as he seems. Its obvious from the media circus he caused this election that he holds grudges and doesn't forget anyone who tried to fuck him over. Gabbard is a hardcore Progressive and was one of the last people to support Clinton after backing Bernie the entire time. If Trump can get Gabbard and Bernie into some strong positions he can easily use his "eccentric" media personality to out politicians who will not support progressive polices. I totally see Trump going on live TV and explaining point blank to the public what he was trying to do to "improve" America and then naming every single politician who stopped the attempt. They'll call him petty for the act and he'll just spin it around and say the American people deserve to know who is and isn't willing to fight for them. I'm not saying Trump is the smartest man in the world but he's definitely setting himself up to play both sides. Typical corporate boardroom bullshit taken to a political scale.

With Melena Trump refusing to move into the White House, President Trump will have his pick of some top shelf escorts.

That's one of the few cities that is recession proof. Both republican and democrat mongers have money to spend.

I like that the politics has been moved out of Beef Lolo. Does this thread have rules as all the other threads in Honolulu forum? Or, is it a free for all like Beef Lolo?

Good point, I would prefer that it stay somewhat collegial but I realize that's asking a lot. Lets say sort of a free for all but focused on what I'm sure will be the three major themes

1. Donald Trump will be just what the country needs.

2. Donald Trump will be a disaster.

3. All of you guys that think any of this matters are idiots.

One note of warning; I am and will continue to be politically apathetically, I personally think that the US is no longer a representative democracy but rather many years ago turned into an oligarchy. I did not support either candidate. Still I want to take special care to say that while I do not think everybody who supported the president elect is a racist. I do not believe that to be the case, but one would have to be blind to not see that some of the people who liked him are. If you are one of the minority of people who supported him that are, keep that shit off the forum, it has no place here.

Since it's impossible to keep you guys from arguing I started this thread in the hopes that the arguments that spring from this issue would stay here and not clutter up the threads about pussy.

So, argumentative yes, threats no, racism no. If I have to I will add no blanket statements. That would be a personal peeve of mine. There is no group where EVERYBODY believe EVERYTHING the same. Statements like "liberals blah blah blah" or "conservatives blah blah blah" irritate me and since I'll have to read some of this I may start deleting them.

No it's not fair but at times neither is life.

http://www.staradvertiser.com/2016/11/21/breaking-news/gabbard-meeting-with-trump-for-job-in-administration-reports-say/Tulsi Gabbard, if appointed to the President's Foreign Policy post will have much more influence than as a Senator that has to deal with other members of both House and Senate chambers. Even she is a Democrat working for a Republican President, who actually has liberal views and his own independence, actually see Middle East policy in the same light as Tulsi Gabbard.

She would actually accomplish much more in that position and get national and world coverage than as a "mere" senator with only one vote amongst the 50 others in the Senate and 100 plus in the House. It is an opportunity for both her and Trump to get things done rather than he appoint another Republican that will make things harder for he to pass policies on the illegal war in Syria and other matters.

Being that the DNC has already shafted her, if she takes this appointment, it will be pay-back time for the back stabbing Democrats that were connected to the corrupt Clinton-Obama policies. If I were her. I would say F*k the DNC and other sleaze bags good for nothing Hirono and Hanabusa who supported Clinton from the beginning until it sank.

Very interesting title to this new thread.

This is the first time in 240 years that a president was elected that was not a political, well except for a military 5-star general.

The United States government is the biggest business company in the world and this will be the first time a businessman will run the company.

Tulsi Gabbard, possibly a good business desission considering if Bernie Sanders would have won over Clinton, Gabbard would have been running with him as Vice President.

I voted for Hillary Clinton but after listening to him he sounds like Middle America or mongers like you and I. A lot of people is unhappy because he does not talk like a politician. The following days after his election I watched the world stock market and it did not react like most presidential elections, the makers worldwide went up and a week later the gas prices went down. When both Bushs was elected the maker fell 15% and the gas prices increased by 25%.

Time will tell if electing a businessman to run the biggest company will work for not only the United States but the rest of the world.

A message from President elect Donald J Trump

https://youtu.be/7xX_KaStFT8From the Trump video: "My agenda will be based on a simple core principle -- putting America first. ... Creating wealth and jobs for American workers".

Yup, that's why during the past fifteen years, Trump's businesses sought and were granted government approval to import and hire more than 1,200 people from foreign countries. Even this year, Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club and Jupiter Golf Club have filed applications to import up to 78 workers from foreign countries. Plus, numerous Trump-brand products have been made in foreign countries: shirts made in China, South Korea, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Honduras; sport coats made in India; suits made in Indonesia and Mexico; eyeglass frames made in China; furniture made in Turkey; furniture components made in Germany; mirrors, ceramic vases, wall decorations, kitchen items and lighting fixtures made in China; and Trump vodka formerly made in Holland. Additionally, Trump hotels buy and use many products made in China, including pens, shampoo, body wash, moisturizers, shower caps, bath towels, laundry bags and other bags.

Donald Trump: a politician you can trust!

Ha, ha, ha, ha. What a hypocrite.

https://youtu.be/7xX_KaStFT8So what would you prefer WW3 with Russian if that ***** Hillary won? Both are unfit for President, but I'll rather have no nuclear war that would have destroyed the world. Congress is currently trying to pass legislation to create a No Fly Zone in Syria that may provoke the Russians to start shooting down aircraft of Turkey, Isarel and American planes, which in turn would start WW3.

Ha, ha, ha, ha. What a hypocrite.I read an article a while back that stated that 93% of the clothes sold in America are made overseas. So Trump isn't the only person selling out. Not by a long shot. Unless you can honestly tell me that every product you buy is made in USA, which I seriously doubt, then your argument is nothing. Why is it ok to buy products made in China but its not ok to make products in China?? Makes no damn sense. Walk into Sears and check out Craftsman tools. Up until 6 or 7 years ago they were made in USA with a little of made in China. But now its almost 100% made in China. Answer this: Where is your phone and / or laptop made? Where are your clothes made? Do you drive an import car? And all this manufacturing overseas has been sped up ever since NAFTA became law. Bush, Obama and both Clinton's have done nothing to bring back manufacturing jobs. I hope Trump does but only time will tell. And I think Trump is the first truly independent President this country will have. There's a reason why both the Democrat AND Republican establishment hate him. I'm glad Trump won. But please don't choose Romney as Secretary of State. Romney is an idiot!! Anyone but Romney. #NeverRomney #NeverHillary

I am not the smartest in politics but Donald Trump will not get impeached. He said a lot of stupid things as his game plane to get elected. Yes he shoots from the hip and he is way more then rough around the edges but with a good speech write, a great cabinet he will learn how to make great decisions and learn that everything he wants to do he just can't say and do. The POTUS has people to answer to! I do truly believe he will MAGA! He may put is to war again with his mouth also and I hope he brings back our troops as Obama said that 5 years ago our troops suppose to have been out of Irac. Give the man a chance!

This isn't meant as beef lolo but politics right now really gets my dander up these days. And it's all trumps fault. I find deep contempt for this turd of a president and I'm embarrassed each and every day I see his pink prune face on the television. I hate him with every cell in my body. 2018 is the sophomore charm so I hope this book blows up in his face and he gets booted out of office on the 25th amendment. Wouldn't mind in the least if he dropped dead tomorrow.

He's a myalgonist and a racist and is the most incompetent asshole we've ever had in the front office. Even more annoying are his followers who are responsible for getting him here in the first place. Those who won't speak of their support for him publicly but reserve that for more anonymous venues. I tell people I straight up hate the man almost daily. He's done nothing but divide this country and can't seem him fulfilling his term.

Those even lamer are those who think hasn't 'done that bad a job'.

Anyone who thinks this draft-dodging slum lord and his cabal of oligarchs, racists, self-righteous christians and Russian intel handlers are good for anything, especially *this country* needs to work on basic critical thinking.

Trump is that idiot of a boss' kid that everyone has to deal with. He's that rich asshole who can pay your invoice, but instead tells you how much he's going to pay you after the work is done, and after you've agreed on a rate (a sore point with me because I'm a freelancer and the exact same thing has happened to me). I am not surprised for all the trump hating. Its Hawaii and this state is owned by the democrats and unions. Just do not understand how you can hate a person you have never met in real life?Nope, I've never met the guy.

But I do know he ran two "presidential" campaigns on the lie that Obama wasn't born in the US. Obama was born here. My birth certificate looks like his. I know people who went to school with him. I also know there's people who don't like a minority majority state, run by people who aren't the same same color as they are. Members of congress and senators said as much when Hawaii made its bid to be admitted into the union. By trump saying Obama wasn't an American citizen, he's saying people from Hawaii aren't Americans and that *I'm* not an American. (And if you're about to say he doesn't believe it anymore, he said it with all the sincerity of a five-year-old being forced to make amends by his parents.)

I know one of his surrogates in the election said he saw nothing wrong with the detention of thousands of Japanese-Americans during WWII. I know trump said nothing. He did not denounce him, he did not cut him off. Nothing. (https://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/18/us/politics/japanese-internment-muslim-registry.html) As someone who looks like someone who would have been interned, and whose relatives who were interned, yeah, I take that personally. I'm sure lots of the "democrats" and people in "unions" had grandfathers and uncles who were interned too.

I know I spent part of my youth in the Army and I know there's no way I would have ever gotten a clearance if I had as many questionable contacts with hostile foreign powers he and his family has. I remember when even the whiff of collaborating with an enemy power would have sunk someone running for dog catcher. Where there's smoke there's fire, and there's enough smoke coming out of the White House to elect a goddamn pope. The fact that he's there, taking a dump on the Constitution and putting the lives of soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen in harm's way on a whim and a Tweet pisses all over the service I gave.

So my question is, how can trump hate someone like me, who he's never met in real life? And if doesn't hate me, he's not doing anything to prove otherwise.

And Trump is doing an ok job so far. I bet admin will be happy when he files his taxes for this website this year and sees all the money he is going to save? And trump is doing a lousy job so far. I've always found it interesting that Hawaii is so pro-democrat and will often bring up the internment of WWII in conversation. It was FDR, a democrat, that did the interning. I think that this past election cycle was a case of "no good choice" at all and I just couldn't see myself voting for either of the two major candidates, but, I got to say it's been a real eye-opener as to how far our media (press) has devolved on both sides of the aisles. I really hope we can survive these losses. Gone are the days of journalists now replaced by nothing but opinion and editorial. Gone are the days of statesmen / women now replaced by pandering politico's selling their votes to the highest bidder. Trump? He's nuts. Congress? Bought and sold. News? Turned into propaganda outlets spewing endless drivel. Dark times my friends, dark times.

1. many AMP korean girls are actually Chinese. Not all but more than we think. Korean Chinese who has a Chinese passport and know korean. If you are a korean, you can distinguish it by their accent.

Chinese sometimes get korean passport. Maybe by brokers. So estonian airpiort give exam paper when koreans try to pass their country. Think foreign airport give "football, star wars, or american tv show, slang question to find "this american" is a real american when you visit foreign country because too many foreigner use us passport and pretend to be an american for easier customer process. (There is a youtube that shows australian custom catch fake koreans.).

2. It is true that owing to notorious korean inter girls, even innocent k women have a lot difficulty when they visit USA. So k women under age 50 are advised to wear like the very conservative ladies and not bring sexy clothes in case tsa open their bags.

(Actually we admire k AMP girls's wonderful service but to korean they are just like disgusting bugs that ruin their coubtry's reputation. Nobody want their country to be noticed as prostitutes importing conutry.

3. In my knowing some of popular hawaiian AMP girls had trouble when theyvrevist USA since trump. And that is why they can't come here kust leaving her clients volume for other girls. (Past prostitution mugshots and welfare issue while they could afford expensive foreign tour combination).

4. as always, airport custome is hugely dependent on your luck. There is a joke about that. Korean guys joke "best tsa officer and policeman is middle aged white men for east asian" "black women don't like us in bed but love us at airport".

I've always found it interesting that Hawaii is so pro-democrat and will often bring up the internment of WWII in conversation. It was FDR, a democrat, that did the interning. If you look at the history of Hawaii, the plantation owners and business owners of Hawaii, when it was a territory, skewed Republican. Since the governor was appointed, it wasn't like anyone could vote on the matter. They also were vehemently anti-union.

So when the population of field workers could vote, they rallied for the party that wasn't like their bosses and organized, especially given the treatment they were given. Hence the reason for the loyalty to the Democratic party and the strong unions. But if you scratch the surface Hawaii is actually fairly conservative in social issues.

That being said, I don't think it would have mattered who was president on Dec. 7. Japanese-Americans were the foreign "other" that was easy to identify and paint as the enemy. There's a long history of America viewing Asians as the "other", like the Chinese Exclusion Act and naming Chinese immigrants as "The Yellow Peril".

And when you consider the contributions of Japanese-Americans who fought and who were highly decorated in WWII, despite having family in internment camps and ultimately answering to the president who put them there, they have the right to bring up those internment camps, don't you think? Why is it that minorities like the Buffalo Soldiers, the Tuskegee Airmen, the Code Talkers and yes, the 100th /442 are among those that fight the hardest?

I think that this past election cycle was a case of "no good choice" at all and I just couldn't see myself voting for either of the two major candidates, but, I got to say it's been a real eye-opener as to how far our media (press) has devolved on both sides of the aisles. I really hope we can survive these losses. Gone are the days of journalists now replaced by nothing but opinion and editorial. For most of American history, including and especially during the revolution, journalism has been partisan. The idea of neutral reporting is a fairly new idea and it was pushed by Pulitzer and Hearst as a way to appeal to the most people so they could sell more ads in their newspapers. Not saying that's right, but you should always be aware of the signal to noise ratio in any kind of information you consume. That is always a responsibility of being a citizen.

And yeah rag sheets of old were very partisan. I didn't know it was Pulitzer and Hearst who pushed for fairness and accuracy (albeit for increased profits). I grew up in the era of Walter Cronkite, David Brinkley, and Chet Huntley. I miss that era of news reporting. Fox & Friends is a joke, CNN's bias reminds me of Pravda, and MSNBC sends tingles up my leg! (haha). About the only reporter / host I actually listen to is Chris Wallace a like father / like son kind of thing I think. There are a others, but they are few and far between.

Dang, started going over my federal taxes with my CPA and it looks like I am going to be saving over $10,000 this year in federal taxes. Thank you Republican controlled Congress and President Trump.

Then we looked over Hawaii taxes and it looks like going to be paying more in state taxes than federal taxes. What can you expect when the Democrats own Hawaii? So much taxes and government regulations in Hawaii. Democrats got to make sure everyone is paying their fair share so the state government can take care of me because the State government knows what is best for me.

More in state taxes? Even people in California and New York (State with much higher state taxes) don't have those lop sided returns. Hell H&R Block would better serve you if this so-called CPA told you that (highly doubt that he / she did).

I have rental properties and invest in stocks and Turbotax Premier (currently on sale at Costco) works fine. It carries everything over (depreciation, losses) to the next tax year too. Includes the Hawaii tax return and also a free federal income tax e-filing for a fast refund.

This post is about politics, although it isn't about Trump.

Recently there have been various posts on the forum concerning the idiotic government crackdown on prostitution in Honolulu, which also could affect visitors from the neighbor islands. Government officials have promised that the crackdown will continue. Of course, the crackdown primarily focuses on compensated sexual services between consenting adults that have nothing whatsoever to do with the bogeyman of "sex trafficking".

Election Day in Hawaii is Tuesday, November 6. Most of Hawaii's voters, like obedient little sheep, will continue to vote for the same Democrats and Republicans who want to exert government control over your private life and restrict your freedom of choice. It's reminiscent of the famous saying: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, yet expecting different results". However, for a few positions, there's an alternative to the same old, same old. The Libertarian Party, whose guiding principle is individual freedom, has Hawaii candidates running in several races. Realistically, it will be impossible for them to beat the "establishment" candidates. Yet, if you're disgusted with the government trying to control your private sex life and violate your freedom of choice (and the freedom of choice of consenting adult providers), and you live in a district where a Libertarian candidate is on the ballot, you might want to consider voting for the Libertarian candidate at least as a protest vote.

Should the title of this thread be changed to "American Politics during the Biden Presidency" now that we have a new President, or would simply "American Politics" be preferable?

After the "honeymoon" period is over for the new administration, surely there will be new controversies and criticisms.

Turbo tax is the way to go. I was paying an account $250 every year until she passed and was turned on to turbo tax, it's not as hard as you might think. They have live support for a reasonable fee as well.
