Hey I hear ya! I troll pretty often down here in the L.A. area, and it seems that the cops bust all the real fem sw's and leave all the TV's.
A buddy of mine was a cop in an L.A. suburb that had a pretty fair sw trade, and he told me that the reason the cops pick up the fems is to dicourage johns from trolling, but even so, there was still a backup of cars trying for the tv's. Hey Hoehunter, you can generally find some action at AMP at Best Chinese Massage or "special K." I've had FS at both, hj a given. Problem I have is they are pretty demanding about big tip up front. Anyway, in answer to the question of why there's so little talent in SB, I think the issue is driven by economics.
Those that have lots of money can import their ladies from LA. If you're a multi-millionaire with a desire for prime flesh, you bring a high end outcall girl up from LA. If you're a multi-millionaire, you don't want your multi-million dollar home's value brought down by a bunch of sw.

For me personally, the Spearmint Rhino is a waste of money and time. Sure, the girls are hot, but the lap dance hustle is WAY TOO STRONG, and once you do get one they only play the songs for two minutes and not a second longer. Now I don't know about you, but two minutes isn't even a good warm up for me!!
I would suggest going to one of the AMPs in the area, they are a bit more pricey than Oxnard AMPs, but I don't know if you want to drive all the way down to Oxnard to save approx.40 to 50 $. See previous posts by fellow mongers for prices in S.B. area.
Also you might want to pick up a copy of the "Hotsheet" and get a girl to come to your hotel. I've used it in the past and it's been hit and miss.

Big Guy, I agree completely with your assessment of the Spearmint Rhino in Santa Barbara. I'd also add that the DJ plays the music at ear splitting volumes, the strobe flashing on the main stage is disorienting, and the rest of the club is so dark I can hardly see the dancers bodies. One might hope that such a dark environment would allow for groping and other WSG activities, but I have found this rarely the case. The furthest I got was when Luna would let me massage her breasts in the $40 per song nude area. The place in Carpinteria has been closed for months. You didn't mention in your post if latinas were a special interest of yours, but if they are, then A1 might be worth investigating. As it happens, latinas are a special interest of mine, and I have tried A1 twice (both times in either late 2002 or early 2003). Their selection has declined a little. They do have about an even mix of Asians and Latinas. Arrest made at local massage parlor

Police have broke up an alleged house of prostitution in Santa Barbara.
After a month long investigation, detectives served a search warrant at the Magic Care Center on Chapala Street late Wednesday. 40-year old Mei Yan Chen was arrested for soliciting prostitution to an undercover police officer.
"It's appropriate to identify and take appropriate enforcement action when we hear about these operations," says Lt. Paul McCaffrey, of the Santa Barbara Police Department.
Another woman was cited for performing massages without a permit. The owner of the business, Jin Hang Guidry, worked for a similar operation that was shut down by the city four years ago. Investigators say more charges and arrests could follow.

Saturday eve, about 11 (time for closing), I visited WagonWheel. Kim gave me a so-so massage, and nothing else. Pretty icy actually, with no attempts at conversation or anything better. So after a day's work I decided that a visit to an AMP was in order - if there was nothing else on offer then I rather enjoy a good Asian massage anyway (particularly being walked on - the best one of those I have ever had was in Guangzhou from a man - though he had somewhat smelly feet.) so thought I'd visit Natural Healing - on State Street.
For those like me who don't know the geography THAT well, the sensible way there isn't to use State Street out of town - it's a long drag through many many intersections - instead it's very close to the State Street / 101 intersection and better approached from 101 then headed slightly OUT of town... but I digress.
One problem I have had with AMPs in the past is that I look a bit like LE - to talk to (from an American viewpoint) it's pretty clear I am not (the English accent is a dead giveaway) but from an Asian ear that might be harder. Anyway, I met Nancy at the door - she didn't seem to keen to take a 1 hr appointment at first - just $40 for the half hour, but when we got chatting and I told her where I was from she loosened. The massage was pretty good, (not quite as firm as I might have liked) but with the towel being discarded it was likely that more was on offer, and it was. From a GFE viewpoint - this was the best AMP experience I have had - reverse massage, a little DATY but sadly I succumbed a little early to her rather good hand action.
