BBBJ is less risky than other things, but you can still get several diseases, including the clap, herpes, etc. It's also possible, according to the CDC and other places, to get HIV this way, but as far as I'm aware there are only a couple of cases where this is fairly certain as the transmission method, so the odds are pretty low.

The odds of getting HIv is pretty much nill. There has been only one report of contraction from felatio. The person who contracted it was some gay guy in San Francisco who had multiple sexual partners. This tells me that he almost certainly got it from anal sex....

Actually, Hargow20, that's not true. There are a number of studies which have documented such transmission. The CDC's Options Project, which is considered the most definitive, reported eight cases from their studied group in San Francisco where oral sex was the probable infection method, with half of that infected number never engaging in anal sex -- and anyone who engaged in condomless anal sex or reported the possibility of breakage was thrown out of the study. Your multiple partner comment seems rather irrelevant, given we're talking on a board full of people who have multiple partners. And yes, those in this study were gay, but the CDC's fact sheet also reports documented male-female examples.
HOWEVER -- to the best of my knowledge, there's no clear case of someone contracting HIV by receiving a blowjob, as opposed to giving, though transmission can definitely happen with herpes and gonorrhea, and possibly also with hepatitis B, chlamydia, HPV and syphilis. In all cases, though, the risk is considered to be significantly lower than vaginal or anal sex.

The issue in the CDC study wasn't how many partners someone had or their sexual orientation but the possibilitiy of HIV/AIDS transmission via oral sex, and since the study specifically screened for other transmission possibilities, I don't exactly see your point with this citation. Are you asserting the info from the cited Dutch study automatically means the CDC engaged in bad science? Or that you have the expertise to determine how good or bad such a study might be without reading it simply because you [i]know[/] all infected gays are getting screwed in the ass by lots more other gays than the CDC could possibly know?
The question is whether or not HIV transmission can take place via oral -- as I said at the beginning, according to a variety of studies, it can happen, but the odds are very low -- and there are very clearly more documented cases than the single one you mentioned and dismissed. Last thing I read said that about a third of new HIV cases in the US are women, which means there's reason to pay attention, since those are my partners of choice. (It's even higher world-wide, and the vast majority of those with AIDS in Africa are heterosexual.) Yup, it's a lower percentage in the US and disproportionate compared to gays, but we were discussing whether or not there's risk.
You may see it differently, but personally I'd hardly trust the perspective or science authority of the site you mention -- which is a politically-oriented one that as far as I could see doesn't have a single even neutral thing to say about homosexuals -- over the CDC when it comes to dispensing expertise on disease. There are plenty of things over which I take issue with the CDC, but I'm not going to take the word of a conservative Christian political group -- one that refers to Aztec architectural design as "pagan" as if that's some sort of call-to-arms abomination -- over them without some serious evidence.
I could care less whether or not gays have one or a thousand partners -- what's important to me is my own and my partners' infection risks, and whether or not HIV can actually be transmitted via oral sex. The CDC says, yes, it can happen, and this is supported by other studies, so I'm cautious in terms of it being at least possible. The CDC study isn't the only one that says this -- other referenced studies report oral to genital transmission, including female to male via oral, both via blowjob and pussy eating, but these are less authoritative in terms of being scientific studies versus reported cases. The infction risks are clearly far, far lower this way than, say, unprotected anal sex, but we still all must make decisions about our behaviours based on our tolerance to such risks. I know it's possible, just as I know it's possible to get the clap or chlamydia via bbbj, but that doesn't necessarily mean I won't get one, just that I'd rather make an informed choice so I'm aware of the risk I might be taking.

A recent letter mentioned the AIDS explosion in Africa.
Conditions are much different there. The VD rate is sky-high. A woman with syphilis or gonnorhea is likely to have vaginal lesions, which are easy entryways for the AIDS virus. Condoms are largely unavailable in Africa, so a horny guy is shooting craps with destiny whenever he gets laid.

Well, I've read that about half of all adults in Western countries have been exposed to Herpes Simplex 1, which is the version that causes cold sores, and which can in turn become Simplex 2 if there's oral-genital contact, so obviously the first line of defense is a visual inspection. There's a fair amount of info saying that anywhere from one in six to one in four adults has genital herpes, with the percentage of those infected rising with age (which makes sense, I guess, since it's incurable.) One 1995 study said that at least 60% of sex workers world-wide show exposure to HSV 2, and this is repeatedly referred to by others, but I've been unable to track down the text of that, so I'm not sure whether that percentage represents those exposed or infected -- I'm presuming the former, but don't know. I've never been able to find a really good source for herpes infection rates by country, let alone with sex workers broken out, and I've spent a fair amount of time looking.
The problem is that some estimates say that 80% of the time herpes is passed on when there is no visible sore, so it's kind of a crap shoot. As far as not passing it on once you've got it, there are drugs that suppress the symptoms and decrease infectiousness. I've not seen anything that estimates the overall chances of passing it on, in terms of "if I have sex while I'm in the midst of an outbreak, what are the odds of my partner getting it" or "what are the odds of getting infected/passing infection when there's no active outbreak" though I've looked for that.

Havanaman, I've heard that you can increase the volume of your load per ejaculation by doing just what you are talking about- swallowing raw egg white. You can buy egg whites in the dairy or freezer section of many grocery stores. Might be worth a try.

Oral sex can lead to oral tumours. That is the conclusion of researchers who have proved what has long been suspected, that the human papilloma virus can cause oral cancers.
The risk, thankfully, is tiny. Only around 1 in 10,000 people develop oral tumours each year, and most cases are probably caused by two other popular recreational pursuits: smoking and drinking. The researchers are not recommending any changes in behaviour.
The human papilloma virus (HPV), an extremely common sexually transmitted infection, has long been known to cause cervical cancers. Several small studies have suggested it also plays a role in other cancers, including oral and anal cancers.
"There has been tremendous interest for years on whether it has a role in other cancers. Many people were sceptical," says Raphael Viscidi, a virologist at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, a member of the team that did the latest work.
The researchers, working for the International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France, compared 1670 patients who had oral cancer with 1732 healthy volunteers. The participants lived in Europe, Canada, Australia, Cuba and Sudan. HPV16, the strain seen most commonly in cervical cancer, was found in most of the oral cancers too.
Antibodies against HPV
The people with oral cancers containing the HPV16 strain were three times as likely to report having had oral sex as those whose tumour did not contain HPV16. There was no difference between men and women in terms of how likely the virus was to be present in the cancers. The researchers think both cunnilingus and fellatio can infect people's mouths.
Patients with mouth cancer were also three times as likely to have antibodies against HPV as the healthy controls. For cancers of the back of the mouth, the link was even stronger.
The results prove the connection between HPV and oral cancer beyond any reasonable doubt, Viscidi says. "This is a major study in terms of its size," he says. "I think this will convince people."
Cancer specialist Newell Johnson of King's College London agrees. "We have known for some time that there is a small but significant group of people with oral cancer whose disease cannot be blamed on decades of smoking and drinking, because they're too young," he says.
"In this group there must be another factor, and HPV and oral sex seems to be one likely explanation. This study provides the strongest evidence yet that this is the case."
Genital HPV infections are common. At any one time, around a third of 25-year-old women in the US are infected. It is thought that only 10 per cent of infections involve cancer-causing strains, and that 95 per cent of women will get rid of the infection within a year. But even this does not explain why so few develop cancer.
The latest findings could improve treatments of oral cancers. Many scientists think that HPV infection must persist for tumours to grow, so giving antiviral drugs to people with oral cancers caused by the virus could improve their chances of recovery.
Prevention could soon be a possibility as well. Several research groups are developing vaccines against HPV, intended to reduce the 250,000 deaths worldwide each year due to cervical cancer. It is thought the vaccines would prevent oral infections as well as genital infections.

Yes, you are correct about the risks of BBBJ's. Unlike most STD's, herpes is viral and cannot be cured. Bottom line on the BBBJ/STD issue is this: First, consider the amount of risk you are willing to take. Second, use your best judgement with each new partner. Get tested regularly, even if you don't show symptoms. Most STD's are curable, especially if caught before they do major damage to your system. There is great promise in newer antiviral and antiretroviral drugs in terms of making it so that incurable viral infections, such as herpes and HIV, can eventually be made incommunicable to others. Famvir (for herpes) is showing great promise in this area.

Shaving must be done carefully especially nuts and shaft. I used a electric hair clipper with a lowest plastic spacer attachment to shorten all the hair first. Just that alone makes the area more presentable. You may find your dick looks just a little bit longer too. I think we may share the same problem. I am not into using creams, but also do not like the idea of sharp blades next to my Mr. Happy. So, what I do now is use a simple hair clipper, set at 5mm. These are readily available and you can change the head attachment for specific hair lengths.
Although just right for the pubic hair and balls, the clipper does nothing for the small number of hairs left on the shaft, especially the base. I have had to bite the bullet here and use a razor for these few hair. I do that every couple of days then apply a moisturiser. A GF said I might like to pluck these few hairs with a tweezer (!) they will not grow back apparently. I recently made a trip to Houston and visited two spas. At the first one, I saw a girl who had been reviewed very favorably on other boards and had a great time with her. Lots of DFK, BBBJ and DATY. I got a double regimen of antibiotics, which seem to have cleared it up.
I suspect that I got the bug from the second place. I got a note from someone in Houston who said that he suspects he got a case from the same spa, but a different girl! Hard to know exactly where I got it, but I am pretty sure it was in Houston at one of those two places.
I notified both spa owners and got a response from one. I have not gotten my results back from the doc to know what it was that I had, but bottom line is I picked up something from oral activity of some kind.

MSSimilar experience in 2002 - not at an amp, with an indie. Week's worth of miracle drugs cleared it right up. There's only one way you get zero risk - abstain. The rest of us rack it up to tuition and move on.

I thought that I would share an old trick with you guys and see if anyone else has ever experienced it or heard of it.
Anybody remember the candy Pop Rocks which you can still find from time to time?
Just a little of this on the tongue during oral and the provider can send you to the stratosphere.
