Coming from the opposite side to make a left turn instead you can at least scope out the parking situation and just park somewhere else like at wailana. There is a paid public lot to the left of Empire's building (if you are looking at the front from the street), I would say it is about halfway between Empire and 7-11. I parked there and paid $4 for 2 hours. And you can increase the time via cell phone, if necessary.
