I'm going crazy looking for one. I passed by this place on SFR before Sheldon and it looks like a fichera bar. But there was only one older lady. Maybe it was too early. Anyone know of any places with some ficheras? Some look a bit shady but I'm willing to risk it on a reference.

I frequented a great one years ago very near the location you describe. SFR a mile north of Buena Vista. But that place is gone and very missed. Great action on weekend nights and a small brigade of non-pro or semi-pro chicas would show up, change into lingerie, circulate doing $1 lap dances, and were ready to go to a nearby hotel. Cumbia on the juke and strolling mariachis would come in and play. Very friendly crowd but as an older white guy, I was the subject of suspicion and fascination which worked both ways. The place was way out of the way and in nobody's face, but LE eventually broke it down.
Years later I had a source of intel on bars mostly in the shadiest corners of south L. A. Shade when the sun goes down. I will walk into any cholo bar in Tijuana, but these spots in LA were past my boundaries. Not to mention stories of angry home boys ready to blow when they see their "novia" fichera getting attention. Have digested an array of intel about other areas around town where you might find ficheras. Mexicanas and central americans, but I have not explored.
Would greatly appreciate it if you will PM me if you discover anything hot and reasonably safe. I will say LA is a safer place now than it was in the years I was actively looking for ficha bars.
5 day weekend next week in Tijuana so I'll spend a couple of dozen hours in a dozen ficha bars down there trying not to get ficha fucked!

Unless something specially "newsworthy" happens, I'm not sure I have it in me to report on something as epic as a 5 day trip should turn out to be. If you don't know, there's a decent Tijuana thread on this site in the San Diego section. Also probably more detailed treatment in the International Sex Guide site which is also run by the owner of this site.
The basics of "what's hot" are simple enough:
The bar scene is concentrated in basically a 4 block area that begins just west of the landmark Arch on Avenida Revolucion. Calle Coahuila, Callejon (Alley) Coahuila and Constitucion are where its at. Especially for gringos and casual visitors. Articulo 123 right at the Arch has some interesting spots but only for more courageous dudes who are reasonably comfortable communicating in Spanish.
All of these streets, particularly Callejon Coahuila and Constitucion are lined with mostly cute young street girls who specialize in "get 'em in, get 'em off, get 'em out" service in cheap short term rooms. Typical cost is $20-30 for basic service for about 20 mins. You do better to negotiate an extended session for a little more IMO which can induce the chicas to relax and provide more relaxed and better service. Better yet, pay in pesos and it will cost much less since most SGs accept 200-300 pesos which these days is about a 25-35% discount over using dollars depending on each day's exchange rate. This is a 24 hour scene BTW though the pickings get slim after around 2-3am, especially on weekdays. Many bars remain energetic until the sun comes up.
Of the bars, most gringos and casual visitors will find the most good opportunities and level of comfort in 5 of them:
1. Hong Kong. Definitely no. 1 right now. A giant hi-tech multi story 12 ring erotic circus. Strippers dancing everywhere, live lesbian shows and sometimes audience participation sex shows (don't get too drunk or you may find yourself fucking 2 chicas on an elevated stage in front of 1000 people), naked chicas in jacuzzis and showers, lap dance booths, all kinds of VIP rooms, high mileage ficha company (but it ain't cheap) , attached hotel. If you negotiate (which I do not) , most chicas will ask for up to $80-100 for 30 mins plus $15 for the hotel, but almost all will take $50-60. Service is all over the place. Best to have a couple of drinks with a girl to get a read on her and build some simpatico before inviting her to the hotel.
2. Adelita Bar. The classic zona norte hooiker bar. Jam packed with hotties, uglies and everything in between, and horny gringos. Less crazy atmosphere than HK, but crazy enough. Most chicas just want to get you to the room ASAP.
3. Chicago Club. 10 years ago it was one of the top 2 clubs. Now it is sadly dead most of the time. But it is comfortable and friendly and you won't have much competition for a few very hot chicas who they still manage to keep around.
4. Las Chaveles. Same owner as HK. Tons of chicas at night. This is not a strip club / hooker bar per se. Follows classic Mexico dance hall / ficha bar format, but almost all girls go to hotel and IMO you generally find the very best service here of all the bars.
5. Tropical Bar. Similar to LC and also the same owner. Chica quality is wildly variable but when its good it is amazing. Girls here present as girls next door right off the bus from Sinaloa. The hot ones appear stuck up but melt sweetly with gringo attention.
I suspect you speak excellent spanish since you mentioned family in Mexico. If that is the case I would recommend a crazy busy spot on Art. 123 called Rio Verde Bar. Rarely a gringo in here but a friendly huge crowd. Sometimes too friendly. Chicas cover all the bases including some seriously hot young innocents and some hot sluts. Not every chica will go to the room and certainly not right off the bat, but they will hook up with you for cheap outside dates and matrimony once they get comfortable with you!
In general, if you speak spanish there are a dozen other bars you can check out. Some will contain hidden treasure and others will just be nightmarish. And that changes from day to day, hour to hour. If you find the diamond in the rough it will be special! Also, if you enjoy dancing you can easily line up que rico extended dates. Ask a chica to meet you to spend a night dancing your asses off at giant dance club Las Pulgas on Revolucion a half mile south of the red light district. The lines between "the hobby" and real dating gets blurred, but you will be having huge good times.

Any new ficha bars that have popped up in the Valley yet? They most have non / semi-pros that work there or they're of no use! Seems it would be good to get a little semi-pro action now and then without the three hour drive to Tijuana.

But there is the college Inn on Lindley and parthinea, club Reseda on saticoy and Reseda, El gallero Winnetka and lassen, El dos oros on Sepulveda and roscoe. I've never been but you might get lucky.

There are however a lot of girls just hanging around in the bar looking for guys to buy them $6 beers and $11 shots of tequila. Every time I walked into these places everyone looks at me like I'm the Cops. They just stare and watch every move I make. I stopped going because they make me feel like I should not be in the bar. The College Inn in Northridge on Lindley Ave has the better looking girls. All the others I've been to the women are hideous.
I would also like to hear of any success stories.

Every time I walked into these places everyone looks at me like I'm the Cops. They just stare and watch every move I make. I stopped going because they make me feel like I should not be in the bar. The College Inn in Northridge on Lindley Ave has the better looking girls. All the others I've been to the women are hideous.
I would also like to hear of any success stories.So how do you get your fix now? Tijuana is too far. Clasificado girls are good but its hit or miss and sometimes getting ugly girls and passing leads to unwanted disputes. Streetwalking is scary with LE left and right. I'm getting frustrated haha. I went to a fichera / strip club in DT LA. Can't remember the name, but a bit run down. I would talk, get numbers and then meet up for. 4 at their place or motels.

For sure! That is exactly the experience I've had the last couple of times I tried to chill in a ficha bar where nobody knew me. Once a guy was kind enough to buy me a beer, and then explicitly let me in on the fact that many of the chicas and others in the bar thought I was "narco". I guess this dude was smart enough to know better but wanted to feel me out. I stopped going following that revelation but always eager to hear about what's out there.

Many years ago, I went to a LatinX bar near downtown LA with an LA legend who used to run a strip club website, who was tapped into everything happening in the LA underground. He'd heard about this place as a "regular bar," where you could go, get a beer, hang out, and be approached by girls who might or might not make you offers. Neither of us are LatinX, so we didn't know what to expect. We walked in, the place was packed with mostly men, and cute girls in short dresses hanging out with them, going from table to table. The bar was so loud and noisy! We waited for the bartender to pay attention to us. Little by little, the bar started to clear out. After about 10-15 minutes of waiting, we realized everyone else had left except for two guys playing pool. The bartender finally came over to us, took a long, slow look around the bar, and asked, in perfect English and with an odd smile, "Can I get you guys a drink?
We said no thanks, got up, and left.

Is it still there? What are the cross streets?Sorry to have so little good information. As I said, it was years ago. Maybe 15 years. I wasn't driving or paying attention where we went. My friend drove, and all I remember is, the place was in a working class / industrial neighborhood on the outskirts of DTLA.
