I have tried supplements that have this in it-works well but it makes my heart race like it is going to explode. I have since avoided. You may want to do some research online about possible side effects etc. If you have high blodd pressure (I do) and you may want to avoid. I have had success with a suppl. Called alpha male. Works like the real thing, no side effect.

I ordered Yohimbe 451 from GNC. I actually use it as an "energy pill" as much if not more than for sexual enhancement. As Ruggerz mentioned, it makes your heart race within the first hour or two of taking it. It warms me up a bit and I sweat a little more too. A little bit like taking a NoDoz, if you've ever tried that. I don't really enjoy strong stimulants in general, but I usually find the Yohimbe tolerable. It's not like you take it and have an instant hard-on either, but I have consistently noticed harder, better lasting erections later on when I do take it.

I have heard that Yohimbe can potentially be dangerous. I'm a healthy, fit guy in my late twenties and it's never made me feel sick nor have I noticed any unpleasant side effects other than my heart beating a little too fast. I know some guys who take it as a pre-exercise pill also. I wouldn't recommend it to seniors or anyone with any kind of heart condition / high blood pressure. And don't take it if you're hoping to go to bed within the next few hours because you probably won't be able to!

For about 3 years and read many books on relevant subjects while there. Yohimbe works very well for energy and erectile issues, but can cause high blood pressure and for some people-anxiety. I take it with viagra (half dose of each) because viagra lowers blood pressure, and I also take valerian root to eliminate anxiety or grumpiness. The best yohimbe is twinlab brand, either male fuel or yohimbe fuel. I use the male fuel because a full dose is 3, and I have the option of taking 1, 2, or 3, depending on situation and viagra dose I take with it.

If you already have a yohimbe brand that works for you, maybe you should keep taking it, but monitor your blood pressure!

Yohimbe is a great option for older males who might not be able to use (or afford) testosterone skin creams or patches due to prostate enlargement or cancer concerns.

I have taken it twice now and I feel like I have the flu. I get the chills, sweat, aching. Any other suggestions to assist with an erection?

Any other suggestions to assist with an erection?Yohimbe is like that. There's research showing that it does work, but it has been known to come with some nasty side effects, including liver damage.

If you are looking for research studies, then Panax Ginseng should be on your list. (http://examine.com/supplements/Panax+Ginseng/).

The problem is, you will go broke taking 3 grams a day of this stuff if you are buying it in a supplement like at GNC. You need the Panax (Korean Red) Ginseng, there is some stuff out there that is related to ginseng but is not actually ginseng. And it looks like you need between 1800mg to 2700mg a day for a period of between 8 weeks to 6 months before you can even determine it doesn't work (assuming you don't get good results before that time). If you are going to try it, you need to order the bulk herb online.

Has anyone tried Yohimbe root, results? When I first took it in my early 30s, good god almighty, I could unload three times within an hour and hit the ceiling with a couple of shots. Incredible stuff when you're young.

Any other suggestions to assist with an erection?Any other alternatives to yohimbe? Viagra. Also try healthy diet avoiding sugar and processed carbs getting to ideal weight and working out in gym at least three days a week. Much of this problem is borderline diabetes.

Yohimbe gives me side effects, but I figured out the least amount of yohimbe that I could get away with by combining it with viagra. (for me that was two male fuel by twinlab. Three was full dose).

I'm an in-shape 60-year old who hasn't been able to get as hard as the good ol' days. So, I decided to try Zyrexin, an OTC supplement containing Yohimbe as the primary ingredient. I figured I would try a supplement before taking the plunge for some prescription meds. I bought the Zyrexin in spite of concern about the side effects of Yohimbe. I wanted to try an "on demand" supplement, because I didn't want to take something for days or weeks before an intimate encounter. As an added benefit, Zyrexin is relatively cheap and readily available.

I bought a ten pill bottle at my local Rite Aid pharmacy as I was headed out the door for a therapeutic session at one of DC's last remaining AMPs. I took one pill (the recommended dose is TWO pills) about 30 minutes before I rang the door bell.

To make a long story short, the cure was worse than the disease. I had what I would call moderate side effects. My nose was runny and I went from cold chills to flu-like symptoms. During the session, my erection wasn't any bigger or harder than what has become normal for me, but, I will say I was more sensitive than usual. I had lots of pre-cum before the flip and blew my load after only a couple of minutes. I'm not sure if this was due to the lady or the Zyrexin.

It took 5-6 hours before the side effects finally went away. I flushed the remaining pills down the toilet.

On to Plan be...

I know this thread is old but thought I'd add my tuppence-worth.

I ordered some of this stuff online and only read the label on the product, not the reviews like this online. The packaging said to take two pills, Puritan Yohimbe 2000. Half an hour later my heart was racing, I was shivering, had a runny nose, and my nutsack was shrivelled up tighter than a gnat's arse. But, on the other hand, the erections were stronger. Not a solution, but a help.

The effects are more exaggerated when taken on an empty stomach. On a full stomach I did not get much of any of the symptoms, good or bad.

Half a bottle later and obviously taking somewhat less than 2 pills at a time, I'm dumping the rest. Just too many side effects. Gave me insomnia too, if taken late afternoon or evening.

Posted most of this in the geographical area where I have spent most of my time here. Then while clicking around noticed this section so re-posting here. I have given up on the P4 P women after becoming fairly attached to one years ago only for her to decide she did not want to see me anymore after hooking up with a guy who buys her heroin.

Although not gotten "lucky" so to speak in almost 4 years. I have gone out on what would call "normal" dates with several different women. During more than one of these dates over the past few months, I wound up getting erections while I was out with the women. Did not think anything out of it at the time since I had not gotten any in almost 4 years and figured that was the reason why.

Last weekend however a friend was over and asked if I had been getting lucky lately. Told him no and asked why he was thinking that. He said he had seen some of my bottles of nutritional supplements and vitamins and one of them was: Yohimbine HCL.

I had started taking this last spring a pre-workout supplement as it is supposed to promote energy being taken from fat cells instead of lean muscle mass. Not entirely certain how well it does this. But since the government made the stuff I had been using illegal about 10 years ago and the huge stash I bought up at the time ran out about a year ago I had been trying new things.

My friend was unaware of it being used for what I wanted it for but did inform me that it is what they used for ED before they came up with Viagra and the likes. Guessing Yohimbine HCL does not do as good a job and have never had things like erections lasting for hours since I started taking it which is a bad thing I have heard could happen in adverts on TV for other things. I have not had any of the other performance pills but guessing they are not real cheap. Plus from what I understand you need a doctor's prescription to get them. Yohimbine HCL is available OTC in places like the vitamin shop and you can order it on amazon for a bit less between 10 c and 15 c a pill including shipping depending on the number of pills ordered and the manufacturer.

Did find this on the internet about yohimbine HCL aka: yohimbe (I did not experience any of the undesirable side effects sounds like some of you guys have):

Disclaimer: The author of this article is not a medical doctor and this article is not intended to be used as medical advice.

This alkaloid is found in the bark of a tree that grows in tropical and sub-tropical climates, typically in Africa. This has also become a rather popular ingredient these days in diet pills and energy drinks. You will also see this compound listed in either its yohimbe extract or yohimbine HCL formulations. The HCL version is the more purified, synthetic form of this compound. As an alpha antagonist, this supplement also blocks alpha receptors which are found in particularly fatty areas throughout the body. Practically speaking, this compound is similar to ephedrine to the extent that ephedrine is actually the most potent alkaloid from the ephedra plant and found in several forms (extract, sulfate, and HCL).

Alpha receptors are important primarily because they help to protect deposits of fat in specific areas of our bodies. This serves to regulate the amount of fat that we can effectively burn for energy. If you are trying to lose weight, it can be especially helpful to effectively turn 'off' these receptors, allowing fat build-ups in problem areas to be attacked and burned. As yohimbine blocks these receptors it also increases levels of a chemical known as norepinephrine in the bloodstream. This is an important hormone that allows fat to be released from its adipose tissues and then converted in a form that be used as energy.

What this means for erections is that it inhibits a neural feedback mechanism that controls the amount of nitric oxide released in response to sexual stimulation. More nitric oxide means more cGMP and, theoretically, a harder erection.

Yohimbe bark has a long folk history in Africa as an aphrodisiac and yohimbine HCL was one of the only oral drugs available for erectile dysfunction before the introduction of sildenafil.

Despite its long folk reputation as a potency enhancer, in clinical use, yohimbine had a success rate for treating ED of less than 50%. Perhaps the biggest problem with using yohimbine as a sexual enhancer is its side-effect profile, which can include:

• Anxiety.

• Nausea.

• Insomnia.

• Heart palpitations.

• An inability to urinate.

Some people are highly sensitive to yohimbine and will feel some or all of these effects at almost any dose. If you want to try it, and have never used it before, a dose of 5 mg of yohimbine HCL is probably a good place to start.

Be aware that many products contain Yohimbe Bark extract that may or may not be standardized for yohimbine alkaloid content. Even when using a standardized extract, there are other alkaloids in Yohimbe bark that may be physiologically active.

Using a product that only contains only yohimbine HCL reduces (but doesn't eliminate) the possibility of unwanted side effects.
