After a visit to my doc he checked my Testosterone levels and it was at 240, for my age it should be around 400+. He put me on shots every 2 weeks of 1 ML that I give myself. It has increased my energy and starting to notice more response down below. The only problem I am noticing is I have been being constipated and thinking it is from my prostate getting bigger. Will the regular over the counter prostate suppliments counteract this? Any one else had this problem?

If you are over 40, and over 50, and actively pursuing women like the rest of us, then you should have your testosterone level checked by your doctor. It's a simple blood test. If it is low, get testosterone shots to boost your level.

There many benefits to increased "T", just google it a read for yourself. The best benefit is increased sexual stamina, increased sex drive, and frequent and harder erections.

The downside is going to the doc once a month for the shot. It's a pretty big shot of thick liquid, using a heavy needle (nail) that they give you in the side of your butt. It is painful and can be sore for a day or so.

But I think it's worth it.

Get it checked and get the shots. You'll like the results.

I'm glad you brought this up. I'm only 33, but I'm beginning to think I could be a candidate for T-replacement. Did you just go to you family doctor or did you have to see a specialist? If you don't mind me asking, does your insurance cover this? What is your total out of pocket expense?

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info.I'm 69 and Viagra works, but only if I wait about four days to a week before trying to use my equipment. My regular doctor prescribed injectible Testosterone Cypionate with weekly injections at her office of 1 Ml each time. It is a painful shot, but not too bad. It's in the butt and the testosterone is like a thick syrup that you need to massage for a minute to get it to spread after it's injected. I had to pay out of pocket $100 for the vial of 10 ml, sent to my home address and then I take the bottle to the doctor's office for the shots. I've had only two shots of the 10 available in the vial and I think it works. I've been with three girls in the past two weeks and everything seemed to work better, or should I say longer and harder. FYI my testosterone level was at 553, which is in the normal range for my age. But I wanted higher and the range is 250. 1100 ng / dl. So, for $10 a week, I think it's worth it. And there are supposed to be additional benefits. You lose weight, build muscle, feel better, etc. My third shot is this Wednesday and I feel pretty good.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info.Yes, the T-shot is covered by insurance. Regular doctor can do it. They draw blood, send it off to measure total testosterone and free testosterone. Based on the those readings, your doc will determine if you need the shots. You can search online to find what the desirable T-levels should be, but they vary widely according to your age. T-levels drop as you age, but why shouldn't a 60 year old be able to attain the T-level he had when he was 25? That's really the whole point isn't it?

There are many benefits of increasing your T-level, and only 2 side effects that I have noticed: 1) the shot hurts like hell and you'll be sore for a day 2) You might feel more irritable and aggressive after the first couple of shots. But it's worth it.

My doc says there are other methods of getting testosterone (creams, gels, patches) but does not recommend those and says the shot is the most effective. You have to get it monthly.

I don't know the cost. My insurance paid for a regular office visit to the doc, lab test to measure t-level, and shots needed to raise my T-level.

Good luck. Have fun.

I am 53. I look forward to each month's (every 4 weeks) shot. I notice a little drop off in energy the last few days before my next shot. I also pick up just a little bit of acne on my shoulders, chest area about the 3rd week.

I've lost 22+ pounds since Christmas with that extra energy. I ride my bicycle and workout regularly. Rode 31 miles last Saturday morning and 22. 5 miles yesterday. I am leaner overall and my waist has decreased. Still working to lose another 10-15 pounds.

I also take Levitra. Have had some really good erections lately.

The doctor has not re-checked my T yet. I expect that soon. They did draw blood to check PSA on Thursday when I got my shot.

The T shot and Levitra combined really boost my confidence. No longer in a hurry to take advantage of my erection. I can seemingly last as long as I want to. Highly recommend the T shot to older guys.

Highly recommend the T shot to older guys.I got my PSA results back. Was 3. 1 Nurse said that was "normal high". Nurse indicated doctor wanted to hold off on next injection scheduled for 2 weeks out. I had gotten no warning that I would have my PSA checked that day. I did some research. Ejaculation and bike riding can elevate your PSA level. I had ridden my bike that very morning 10 miles. 31 miles just a couple of days earlier. I had ejaculated the night before the test.

So I called and convinced them I needed a re-take as soon as a few days could pass with no bike riding and no ejaculation. Reading came back at 2. 3.

So now back on schedule for regular monthly injection. Make sure you do you own research to understand these shots and the PSA. The regular non-urologist doctors / nurses don't necessarily know all the ins and outs of this. I could have been sent off for more tests and maybe a biopsy for nothing.

At first. 200mg per 4 weeks. Then brief period 200 mg per 3 weeks. New doctor has changed me to 50mg every 3. 5 days for a total of 400 mg every 4 weeks. Only been on this new dose for a couple of weeks. However, I have lost 22 pounds since last December 2011. More confident, more energy, feel better overall.

Planning on losing another 10 to 15 pounds.

Played tennis yesterday and I felt like I was 10 years younger. Maybe even younger.

Does anyone know if Viagra or other performance enhancing drugs have any ill effects on Testosterone levels?

In addition, if you have lowered T levels and opt for T-shots, will they need to be a regular medication or will your body start to produce more after medication?

Thank you
